Hey guys… need some help. Got my husbands parents a new kitten 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately 4 days ago his mom had a heart attack and open heart surgery and can’t tend to the most perfect kitten ever properly. They are 80. His mom had to be put in a nursing home for 3 weeks and his dad fell because of the kitten and can barely walk now. It’s been a lot! We’d take the kitten ourselves but we got one of our own and he’s an outdoor cat who gets into a lot and is pretty expensive already. right now he’s about 8-10 weeks old. Does anyone know anyone who a good trusting family to take this kitty? He’s soooooo playful and fun. Any help would be lovely.

Found at the corner of Culver and Canterbury on Thursday, October 15th. Currently with the person who found them. Will be brought to the shelter to be checked for a microchip tomorrow. Please DM if you believe to know this dog. Must show some proof of ownership.

Traditional treadmills, lifting weights, sit ups just don't bring joy and I just end up giving up quickly, so I want something fun!
Im talking like pole dancing, regular dancing, yoga, or hopefully something more fun than that!
I would consider my fitness level to be beginner again like I can run about a quarter mile before I'm winded and need a few minutes to get back to normal breathing, but I can do squats like a champion 💁♀️

I posted in UoR sub but wanted to ask here too!
I’m 18 & a girl which I know probably makes it less safe. I know about saferide but they’re not operating during breaks which I will probably ending working during.
If anyone knows the safest route or alternates I would greatly appreciate it (:

Howdy. I was living in Rochester up until March, when I moved to Massachusetts but things have fallen through.
I'm not so certain I'll be able to move back into the house I was living in previously as the owner is listing the rooms for rent at the end of this month and could be rented by the time I plan on coming back, which is January.
I'm a clean, quiet, nonsmoking person with three cats (non-negotiable*) looking for a one bedroom, studio, or room in shared household for around $800 or less a month. I've been posting on facebook groups and searching on my own as well on various apartment-hunting websites, so if you are coming here to tell me that, I'd appreciate if you didn't. I can provide landlord references if needed and am hoping I can get my job back at the Hyatt.
Ideal case is that utilities are included and there's laundry on site or very close by. I will need to be within walking distance to a bus stop as I don't have a car.
About me: I'm pretty chill and keep to myself though might have a friend or two over once in a while. I clean up after my cats daily, so no smell or worry about them, and they are very friendly to other cats and humans! I'm an artist of varying mediums, from fabric (quilting) to oils, acrylics, and digital. I'm pretty boring otherwise and can get along with most people.
*One cat is older and I am worried about him, so it might sadly be two cats by the time I can move.
Thanks for your help!
Edited to add: the price plus utilities is the IDEAL situation, I know it might not be doable. That's why I'm putting myself out here in case someone might have something they themselves are able to do or know someone who is. Even being pointed in a direction of "I know it's a bit outside your ideal but did you try [x]?" would be appreciated.

Obviously please vote for him. This is not a both sides suck post. Just a Joe Morelle is the worst post.

Do you have a favorite street where people go “all out” for Halloween? I mean decorating with the same enthusiasm and frivolity as one might do for the Christmas season. 🎃👻💀☠️🎃

Posting on behalf of a youth community member who is looking for a very affordable/accessible option for a homecoming dress/shoes!
I am currently trying to find resources myself, but figured I’d post here to see if anyone has suggestions!!!
Obviously thrift stores are an option I’m considering, however clothing closets/programs that donate formal wear for events such as youth dances would be ideal considering the youth’s resources!

Hello Neighbors!
If you have kids in RCSD, or live in the City of Rochester, this is something you will want to attend!
I am working along with FIGHT to help produce this Community Event.
In 2024-25 only 19% of RCSD students in grades 3-8 were proficient in ELA, compared to 53% statewide.Graduation rates are another concern. RCSD’s preliminary 2025 data projected just 54.1% of students graduating in four years, down from 58.5% the year before. That’s a lot of young people who need more support and better outcomes. We deserve answers about what is being done to change this.
RCSD spends around $35,682 per student (2023-24), yet student literacy and graduation outcomes remain a serious concern. Our community deserves transparent, measurable goals showing how that investment is improving academic achievement.
So my question is, how are we making sure all this money is actually improving learning? What accountability goals does the Superintendent have in place, and what is being done to get schools and families working together to help our kids succeed? What is the action plan in place to raise literacy and Graduation rates? How do we intervene as a community to help our kids stay focused on academics? How as a community do we improve the safety of our students?
We need to use our collective voices to ensure our kids are getting the education and support they deserve. Come tell the Superintendent you concerns, requests, and ideas for improvement.
Hope you’ll join us for this important conversation! Our kids deserve better, we can do better, and we all have a part to play.
Nick

Can I leave a car at the LeRoy park and ride for the entire weekend? Online says: "There is no maximum duration a vehicle can remain in one of the following Park & Ride lots, but should the vehicle appear to be abandoned or in the way of operations(paving, snow removal, etc.) law enforcement officials may be contacted."
Seems like it should be okay, but wondering if anyone has any experience leaving a car for a few days and if they had any problems

I have a consultation scheduled at Quatela. Has anyone gotten theirs done there and can share their experience? Is there anyone or anywhere you’d recommend or avoid? I’d be willing to travel a few hours for a good surgeon. I’m also curious what it ended up costing for what you got done. Thanks!

I haven’t had Dinosaur BBQ’s poblano pepper soup in years, but I still remember it and would love to have it again. I’ve searched online for recipes, but none of them seem to be the same as the soup I remember from Dinosaur BBQ.
Does anyone happen to have the original recipe, perhaps from an old cookbook or from working at the restaurant? I’d especially love to find the actual recipe rather than another copycat version, but I’d be open to anything that comes really close.
This is a bit of a long shot, but I figured someone here might have it tucked away somewhere!
Thanks in advance!

After a thorough, scientific observation of nearly a dozen Pyrrharctia isabella larvae (wooly bear caterpillars), the forecast for the upcoming winter is in! This winter will:
1) Start later than average
2) Be more severe than average
3) End late.
The caterpillars never lie.

From Rochester to Rosendale, Buffalo to Brooklyn, utility bills are too damn high!
Energy is a basic human right, yet our society treats it as a commodity to profit off of. The results of that system in Rochester are dramatic and violent. RG&E cut power to nearly 25,000 ratepayers in our community since the start of 2026 while their parent company, Avangrid, made over $1 Billion in profits. People regularly get bills from the company costings thousands of dollars. Families have to choose between food on the table or heat in the winter.
This system is inhumane, and it needs to change.
Join NYS Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha and NYC Councilmember Chi Ossé for a conversation on how we can build a statewide movement to take back our power from shareholders who own our energy sector!
Co-hosted by Rochester DSA and Metro Justice's RED Committee.

Every single time I go in there, I try to buy something for the price it says on the shelf (I check to make sure it’s the correct item etc) and it rings up higher, and the workers refuse to change it to the shelf price making excuses that it’s probably wrong or it’s only certain kinds etc, I’ve even had to get out of line to take a damn photo and they still don’t believe it, yes I am trying to scam you out of 50 cents 🙄🙄
Why do these workers act like the difference is coming out of their pockets? It’s legit happened to me 3 times. Do I have to take a pic of every single item and price tag on the shelf? It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’ve never in my life been so mad over this bs. With inflation and everything getting more expensive, just give me what you advertise. I never want to step foot in that store again.

Good evening fellow ghouls and ghosts! Just wanted to say a good friend of mine, recently laid off at yet another company who doesn’t value talent and creativity and art, has started a shop selling custom, non AI generated shirts and hoodie designs. He a great guy and an amazing artist.
Anyone interested to cool shirts, check him out!
