The woman is at the heart of the home. Let us pray that we women realize the reason for our existence: to love and be loved and through this love become instruments of peace in the world. - Mother Teresa

Today, we RPWives gather to recognize the power we have over ourselves, our lives, and our families. We have an ability to bring beauty and joy to our homes like no other, and there is no better time to honor what we bring to the table. We acknowledge that the worst moments of a relationship often take two to tango and that the best moments deserve to be celebrated. We are determined to undercover what we can do differently to improve our communication until fights are fizzling out before they occur and our empathy and understanding for each other blossoms.

ADVICE Do husbands prefer a girly wife?

We are both 33, married, I’ve completely changed, I wonder how it affects him? I’ve been sick for 3 years. I try to view myself as his helper. So what energy I do have I make sure he and then the kids get the majority. It’s very limiting socially and I have no hobbies what’s so ever besides church and this children’s ministry we go to All together. It’s hard we have been together 14 beautiful years and married (virgins) 11. but it’s been so full filling. We would do it every day sometimes twice if due to littles it only Happens twice a week and in a good week 5 times. But boy is it love when we have to make it count :p
So My life has been completely changed lately. My mental health has been completely transformed by Jesus Christ. Like the real deal. Anyway, do husbands enjoy having a girly wife? I’ve recently been disabled by a crappy bone disease and really rely on him for a lot! He’s really proven himself a great guy the last couple years. I’ve really softened and have embraced my fem side BIG TIME. I’m still 100% comfortable with him. Bro tells me everything! So trust me he’s comfortable with me too haha. I guess I’ve just let go of that tough exterior because I had to adapt due to illness. Anyway I wonder how much he likes the change. I’ve really softened. I’m so go with the flow and trust his judgement. Even tho my body is broken, bedroom life has been FANTASTIC. I mean it’s always been great, we married virgins. So I think that has a lot to do with it. But lately….wow! So I think that leans towards yes? Thanks!

ADVICE Advice on how to talk to husband as a new dad?

I (24F) and my husband (27M) of 3 years (been together for almost 7) have a one month old and I’m kind of struggling.
To paint a picture, my husband is on parental leave, he goes back next week, and I’m no longer working (that was agreed upon years ago and it’s what we both want and believe in). I have no complaints about the kind of man my husband is, our marriage is great, and not trying to demean him or talk trash, I just genuinely need advice from other wives as a brand new mom, dealing with a brand new dad.

My husband currently works a corporate job, typical 9-5, and is working on building a business from home. He’s a dog groomer and we’ve spent the last year converting our garage into a salon together, construction, paperwork, the whole thing. Even at the end of my pregnancy I was climbing on ladders and installing light fixtures lol.

Anyway, so currently we’re in the advertising phase and trying to build up his clientele. When he goes back to his corporate job next week, he’ll be working from home on his days off until he has enough home clients that he can quit the corp job.

All of this was to explain my dilemma, that I’m struggling with trying to communicate to him that sometimes I need help with our new baby. I’ve become a bit angry with him, yet conflicted with myself at the same time because nearly the entire time he’s been on leave, I’ve been taking care of the baby while he goes and works on his business stuff, which is totally okay but; when he comes back upstairs after working outside or in the garage for a couple hours, he basically disappears into his phone or plays video games. He does love our child, he makes remarks all the time about how cute she is, takes pics of her, when we take her out he says “this is so cool!” But it’s her care and spending passive time with her that’s lacking. I feel like he only holds her for 5 minutes before he gets bored and takes out his phone.

Let’s say I’m stuck on the couch feeding, burping, trying to soothe crying baby for 2 hours straight, he’ll come and say something like “I want to help you out more!” But then he doesn’t. Chore wise around the house, he puts dishes in the dishwasher and puts them away, and occasionally throws clothes into the washer. I do everything else (but I haven’t been able to really, baby is currently hardly napping at all, I’ve managed to vaccuum and sweep a couple times and help husband in the garage)

I know a lot of women say this is just a man thing, but I HATE having to ask for help. It drives me crazy. The other day we were chatting and I said “sometimes when you’re not doing anything, I’d appreciate some help with the house or baby” I said it super neutral, no sass at all And he got defensive and said “when I go back to work I’m going to be working literally every single day to get clients here” and I said “I know! I just mean when you’re really not busy, because im usually glued to a certain area breastfeeding and can’t get anything done around the house”
That was that.

Am I crazy or in the wrong for wanting him to occasionally help with the baby even when he will be working every day? I know I 1000% signed up for this and I absolutely love taking care of our baby, but it is truly so hard to manage the house and newborn at the same time. Our house looks like a wreck right now. When I’m stuck in a cycle of crying, feeding, diapers, and he just comes upstairs after playing video games for 2 hours and says “she’s so cute” it makes me really mad. While he’s been on leave, there will be days where he genuinely is working hard on the business stuff, and he’s completely occupied all day and I have 0 issue with that, it’s the days where he’s putzing around or has a lot of down time.

Is this just how it is because men aren’t interested in newborn care? I feel resentful that he doesn’t seem to notice or care, yet I really don’t want to have to ask him to help every time, it gets old and I don’t like feeling like I’m his boss.
If I’m not wrong for wanting him to help out more, how can I talk about it without making him defensive, or to make him more empathetic to what I’m dealing with?

ADVICE Want a better sex life with husband what we are doing now isn't working NSFW

32F, married 10 years to my husband (37M), with two kids (6 and 7). I have zero desire for sex with him. Though I’m still willing to have sex and do weekly—and would actually like to want it more—I’m not interested.

Before you say he should leave, hear me out. Early in our relationship, we had sex multiple times a week for years. I still find him attractive, but he does a lot of unattractive things that have worn on me over the years.

First, he refuses to address basic hygiene issues that turn me off, like his breath. He has terrible breath; it's so bad I can smell it from 2–3 feet away in public, and I feel embarrassed for him. I can smell it when I cuddle him, when we're talking together, etc. This makes intimacy difficult, because it appears he has a problem that can be corrected but won't. I ask him without nagging, saying things like, "Hey, can you schedule a dentist? If you get this resolved, I think it will remove a barrier to our intimacy." But he always uses an excuse that he saw a dentist 5 years ago who found no cavities, so his teeth are fine.

His general hygiene is just as bad. When he worked in a shared office environment, he’d come home and try to touch me intimately without washing his hands first after working with equipment, etc. I’ve also had to repeatedly explain basic hygiene, like not touching me intimately after touching my rear, and I still have to remind him.

I often have to ask him to wash up before sex because he will poop and I can legitimately smell shit when I go down on him. I have to explicitly ask him to wash up and brush his teeth every single time before we are intimate.

On top of that, he’s addicted to video games. He is completely checked out with our kids, he’s usually playing video games or scrolling YouTube as soon as they get home from school, and he spends his weekends gaming. The output of gaming and phone usage weekly is 30+ hours a week. 1 hour YouTube scroll after work. 3 hours video games on weekdays after kids go to bed before he goes to bed. Weekends are free reign with these activities.

While he works out hard during the day and looks good physically, he gets super defensive anytime I bring up issues or express that I want our sex to improve if he can support with basic hygiene that alone will 10x the sex output. I work well to maintain my physical attractiveness as well. I have a normal BMI am tone though cardio, pilates, weight lifting, and eating healthy (no processed foods, limited sugar, high protein and veggies). I thought I should add because I don't want anyone here to think I'm a lazy sloth expecting output while I give none.

Honestly, I feel bad for him, and I'm afraid I’m losing respect for him since these issues have persisted throughout our 10 years, but I am hear to fight to respect him.

It sucks because he wants more sex, and to be clear, we aren't a dead bedroom. We are averaging at about 1x a week. I love him, and I put these issues aside to keep our sex life going. When we have sex, I am enthusiastic and genuine, it’s not an act, but sometimes it’s difficult to fight the discontentment in areas that I wouldn't want someone like my son or brother to be ok with.

Before you also ask, he is adamant that he is not depressed or struggling with mental health. Whenever I ask him how he's feeling so I can care for him best he is always good, happy.

I am by no means a nag. My husband tells me very frequently I'm an amazing wife and mother and well this is why I'm here. I want to be better and approach this issue with caution because I do respect him enough to not flippantly continue down a path that hasn't worked.

What do I do? I want to have a better sex life with my husband, but what we're doing right now clearly isn't working.

ADVICE Advice on Attraction and Respect

My husband and I (both 35) have been married for 6 years, together for 8. We have a newborn baby together.

The issues I’m going to describe have been going on since 2021ish, my main contribution to these issues is being a doormat and also mirroring him when he’s upset (eg if he raises his voice, I’ll raise my voice too instead of remaining calm).

I think I’ve lost respect, attraction, and admiration for my husband.

He’s a highly anxious person by nature, it has slowly become a turn off more and more over time.

He hasn’t wanted to spice things up sexually, ever, even when I’ve made some mild suggestions (he was a virgin when we met). Ideas I’ve presented to him have been extremely vanilla (no threesomes, other participants, etc). I feel like I can’t open up around him and have fun.

I feel rejected because I’ve described physical touches that I like and prefer and he doesn’t do them.

Things I never cared about before I all of a sudden care about now: his posture sucks, the tone of his voice sounds wimpy, he seeks out too much approval from me (like asking if I like his haircut).

I can’t figure out what’s wrong with me, I feel like an awful wife and I’m going crazy.

I’m sure some of this is due to postpartum hormones, but if I’m being completely honest I was having these feelings pre pregnancy and just pushing them down in order to not be critical.

What is a good course of action here? I have accepted that I can’t change him. I don’t want to threaten to leave him, but it feels like that’s the only thing I can do in order to have a chance at living the life I want.
