Please don’t question my workflow, but for reasons too long to explain I really want to be able to use a keybind for each of this actions:
Q: items: split at edit cursor (select left)
E: items: split at edit cursor (select right)
But let’s say I have clips A B and C. When dividing C it becomes C1 and C2
If I use my action shortcut, let’s say Q, and divide C. At this moment only C1 is selected, like I want it to. But sometimes I want to shift click A so that I add A and B to my selection: (A, B, C1, NOT C2)
However for some reason when I shift click A, C2 is also added.
I tried changing it to this action: items: split item at cursor (select left)
And it seemed to work at first, but now I’m getting similar unwanted behavior when shift clicking at seemingly random times (to me at least)
I work doing audio editing so while I could just add an extra click to my workflow, this makes the entire point of my action key binds useless, and when editing a 1+ hour audio file with hundreds or thousands of cuts it starts adding up
Edit: after many attempts, i just used a combination of reaper custom actions and GHUB for my logitech mouse, since i wasnt able to fix it:
Reaper actions:
S: split items at edit cursor
Q: move edit cursor left 1ms; select items under edit cursor
E: move edit cursor right 1ms; select items under edit cursor
GHUB:
Use standard delays*
Button 1 macros:
Macro 1: S
Macro 2: click
Macro 3: Q
Button 2 macros:
Macro 1: S
Macro 2: click
Macro 3: E
Edit 2:
I made it work with this:
"split item under edit or play cursor (ignore grouping, select right)"
But there is no "left" version
Closest i could get was
"item: split item under mouse cursor (ignore grouping, select left)"
which is not my favorite, and it has some weird interactions with the edit cursor and shift clicking, but it will have to do for now
