Painted up a bladeguard squad. Tried a few new techniques for swords and shields. What do yall think?

Finally finished up my Vanguard Vets from the Armageddon box!

I made a few hand swaps so they could carry proper Raven Guard pauldrons, and swapped out the jump packs for the classic old-school VV ones.

Also threw in a custom lance on one of the veterans, and gave the Sergeant a set of Lightning Claws.

Sup Ravens

After over a month of not painting anything I finally managed to get some time in with my brushes, and of course some new kits. Gotta say, having a break this long after only getting into this hobby in May/June this year left me kind of rusty.

This here poor Inceptor was my testing dummy, as an unfortunate Superglue drop melted a part of his chest (hence the attempt at 'battle damage'). Tried a bit of OSL if that even counts as OSL as well as painting with a blending sponge (very recommended technique)

And of course what better background than a Repulsor Executioner, with paint still wet in some spots.

I started this hobby one year ago at the local hobby shop and I'm thankful for this subreddit and its community for sometimes guiding me and inspiring me, here is all the miniature I painted this year.

Are intercessors any good on shadowmark? Im slowly getting enough for an army but ive been real busy with work, i havent even learned the game yet. I have plenty of phobos and jumpack troops, but was wondering if normal intercessors were any decent, is there any good lists out there?

New to 40k and the rule of cool has officially put me in a pickle. I was originally drawn to the deathwatch and the minis and built them without knowing how awful and expensive killteams are to make (there still cool). So i was thinking of pivoting to Deathwatch with the raven guard cause you can do that with deathwatch support(and so i only need to buy 500pts of deathwatch). The only problem is that then im kinda forced into running disruption which ive only heard bad things about so far so I dont wanna end up with an army thats miserable to play.

So the question im asking is there a way to make it work any specific things I need to keep in mind for a list to make it work? Is it even possible because I see people take Shadow mark and another detachment with the sole purpose of getting a better disposition.

I kinda want some cool poses for my assault intercessors, and the blood claws really do it for me. Let me know if anyone has converted them and how hard/easy was it, thanks

I’ve found that I don’t really like the edge highlighted look on space marines especially raven guard because to me it feels a bit too organic but I’ve seen black templars and other chapters with a dry brush instead of edge highlights and wanted to know if anyone had any examples of their raven guards with the same treatment just so I can get a feel for the look it would achieve with raven guard

This one is a more would you rather question. If you had the choice to change Shaan's datasheet to be more like Calgar's datasheet would you? What I mean is currently Shaan only has 2 unique abilities (charge reroll and free heroic) vs Calgar's 3 abilities. So, if you had the option to pay 180 pts for Shaan, but in return he got to use the uppy downy effect from Shadowmark in any detachment, or keep him the way he is now at 105, which one would you choose? I think it would be cool for Chapter Masters across space marines to be expensive but be stacked when it comes to rules, just wondering if I'm the only one.

10 looks like a big number, but 5 seems not enough to keep him around, and you bring guns or shields?

I had been looking for these 100 RG Shoulder pads made by MDM factory (MDM 3D Studio) EVERYWHERE but i havent find them, and i couldnt get them in time because when i knew of there existence they were already purged from the Green and white page. Did anyone manage to get them before they were taking down?

Or at the very least does anyone know of a way to contact the OG creator? their cults page and their instagram looks abbandon for a long time, so i dont have of a way to speak directly with them.

The list is kind of thematic, as I like Phobos marines. But I think it lacks anti tank firepower and also defence against melee specialists.

The Captain might go with the Reivers or the Eliminators, not sure yet.

I have 85 points left, so can add another unit of 3 Eliminators or 5 Reivers.

Any 3d heads or bits that look like "bulkier" Mk VI helms? Want some for my melta guys and have been wondering. Aethons helm has some gravis qualities, and this helmet from space marine II looks chunkier

Reivers + Phobos Captain can arrive from the reserves shoot, and basically charge with 3d6?

And the units can use their ability and still do an action? Like the psychic powers from the librarian or the incursors haywire?

Can the incursors throw a grenade and use the haywire for 12 mortals?

Hi everyone, I thought I would share my first raven guard model and probably sixth overall (I tried to do one of each chapter but I think I’ve landed with the 19th legion). I think I have beginners luck and tried some things that seemed to have worked (dry brushing power claws, edge highlighting and then going back over with black 12 times). I followed the warhammer Aethon Shaan video for the white but not very happy.

Advice welcome!
