So, I am looking to apply for a PhD in mechanical engineering (Robotics). The website states that although it is not compulsory, people from lesser known universities should submit a GRE. The thing is, I am applying for Fall 2027 and currently working as a trainee engineer on LOTTE'S PTA plant so I don't have much time to study for the GRE.

What should I do? Give the GRE with as much prep as I can get or just preserve mental health and apply without GRE.

my sat score is not good like a 1310 i am out of state as well. should i just not apply to engineering?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had success with the following tutors on this website?

https://www.math.purdue.edu/academic/tutor/index.html

I’m in Calc III and having a very hard time. The TA’s in the MRR are hit or miss.

I’m open to feedback.

Hello, I am considering taking Stat 30301 for my spring semester freshman year. I previously took AP Stats in HS, did alright, and got a 4 on the AP test. I am looking to do well in the course, especially as a freshman, so for anyone who has taken it, how is it? is it hard to get an A?

(imma start dont come for me in the replies pls lol) also do yall know if theres review session or is it just gonna be in the lecs?

Is there any group to exercise together ?

Idk what happened but my computer sounds like a toy race car. I've inspected it and I think its definitely a fan problem

Ok so ever since I moved in before bgr, I've had a stream of bad luck that doesn't seem very coincidental anymore.

During bgr: crash my bike and had to pay $150 to replace the rear wheel, and my debit card was stolen, and my dad lost the key to the safe my college money (for supplies and emergencies) was in

2 weeks later: get bedriddenly sick, like as sick as sick can get, and I'm still coughing up mucus

Same week: computer charger breaks. Ordered a replacement and it was dead on arrival. Had to bike to Walmart. Do not bike to Walmart. Oh and I missed a test bc my computer was dead

Right after: lose my room key

After that: rejected by 3 robotics team bc im not "techy" enough

Then failed social interaction after failed social interaction. Zero friends

Midterms: failed or narely passed every single one of my midterms

Last week: I RAN SOMEONE OVER AND BROKE MY FUCKING BIKE AGAIN

Now: computer is somehow broken even tho it worked completely fine when I was doing homework earlier. Now the fan sounds like a fucking rc race car. Next year's registration is on hold bc my respect boundaries module never went through and I guess im failing another test since my computer is broken

I say "life is like a concave graph. the lowest lows are followed by the highest highs" BUT IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING AND I CAN'T FUCKING TAKE IT ANYMORE. I don't know what to do and all I can do rn is cry

Anyway, best place to get a Lenovo ideapad 5's fan looked at and fixed ASAP on or by campus?

Edit: y'all my ottoman i use to get in bed broke

Anyone who went to the calc exam around 8PM find/take any AirPods? $10 reward😭 !!

I need an updated answer maybe more detailed as well. How is purdues hazing and pledging processes for frats like SAE and Pi Kapps. I want to rush this spring as a freshman and im willing to do a lot but theres limits and i want to know about them asap.

It’s so over. Almost guaranteed I got between a 0% and a 30%

What is going on with Harrison Grill? Why is it that every time I go there, there is either one type of boba or none at all. I feel so bad for the workers who either have to tell 1000 people in one night that there is only one kind of boba or they have to cover the menu. Employees pls tell us if you know the secret of the no boba. Is it shipment issues?

Hey all, I’m a male with a guaranteed single in Hawkins, and I’m looking for someone with an Oct 20 housing selection time slot who wants a Hawkins single. My friend and I want to room together in Hilltop, but our time slots are far apart, so we’re trying to line up a swap.

If you’re willing to select my friend’s room during your Oct 20 slot, I’m happy to work out a swap with you so you end up with the Hawkins single. DM me for details.

I’d like to play Hytale with my fellow Boilermakers, but I wanna know how much demand there is before actually committing any time or resources to it. Maybe we can even make Purdue mods for the server since making a modded server is way easier in Hytale.

FYI to all those that attend Purdue.

Hi, I am planning to T2M into EE and I plan to take MA265, CS159, ECE2k1 + 2k7, the semiconductors seminar class, and VIP (Stars CD - SoCET) so 12 credit hours. Will this be a reasonable workload? (i know a lot of these classes are hard/time consuming but its only 12 credit hours)

i have housing accommodations (medically needed) and long story short, my roommate is not following them simply because he doesnt want to. i have tried bargaining/compramising with him several times however he refuses to listen. his actions have limited my capabilities since they go directly against my medical condition. i want someone to be honest with me and tell me what my next steps could be and/or how can i kick him out or whether i would need to move and how would that look like. thank you for any advice/information you can give me

Hi! This is a last resort and I have nowhere else I could ask. If anyone found an iPad Pro 12.9” with Magic Keyboard and an Apple Pencil with the name Rachel engraved on it charging in WALC2086 last Thursday 7:20PM and afterwards, please let me know. I forgot it there and have looked literally everywhere I possible could. Nobody reported it anywhere so the other option is that someone took it. Please let me know if anyone finds it, this is so important. My mom has cancer and our money goes into her chemotherapy, we can’t afford a new iPad. Here’s a pic of it where I left it.

🚨🚨SHELTER PET SPOTLIGHT🚨🚨
🐾 meet Petunia 🐾

Petunia is a cutie 🥰 She needs a forever!

Petunia is a pretty gray and white with a unique look of eyeliner on one eye only. She has a tipped ear due to being caught as an alley baby, but it just adds to her charm and shows she’s a survivor. ❤️

She is fixed, UTD on shots, combo tested, microchipped, and fecal tested.

Petunia will need a playful friend in the home so she can be adopted with another kitten or into a home with one already.

She is playful, attention seeking, sweet, calm, and loving. She doesn’t seem to run off but does like to get curious and explore a bit.

Kids 👧🏻 ok
Cats 🐱 yes!
Dogs 🐶 maybe friendly ones

Adoption fee is $75 or $120 for the pair of kittens and goes right back to our program.

Hey folks,

There is a big issue with Purdue: if you miss the thesis format review deadline, which usually happens a month before the final thesis submission deadline, it will not let you do a format review at all. I wasn't always an A student, and my thesis wasn't magically ready before that deadline. By the time I realized I had missed it, there wasn't much I could do. I do not want another student in that situation, so I built Thesis ER.

It checks a Word thesis against 89 Purdue rules, available online, and scans figures for accessibility issues such as missing alt text, low chart contrast, reading order, and inaccessible tables. It tells you where each issue is and what to change. (The thesis may get rejected if it does not meet their standards)

Your thesis is not stored. It checks it, returns the report, and deletes the temporary file. Still uncomfortable uploading it? Download the open-source checker and run the same checks locally.

I want to paste the link here but idk if that is allowed. Ill put the link up in the comments if that is allowed

My thesis has now been approved, and this is my small way of giving back. If you are one of my Purdue juniors—or you also missed that review deadline—give it a try. If you are from another university, contribute your university's rules. Purdue is only the beginning.

Thank you, Purdue University, for the opportunity and everything I learned. And if this might help somebody, please star the repository so another student can find it.
Thesis ER uses deterministic document and image analysis, not generative AI or an LLM. The same file produces the same report every time.

To be clear, Purdue University is not sponsoring or endorsing this project. This is simply my way of giving back to the student community. Always confirm results against the official handbook before submitting.

Open issues and feature requests on GitHub, and post any questions. I'll review the comments over the next few days. This is the first time I'm trying something like this, so I appreciate any constructive criticism. If this isn't very useful, please let me know why and what would be better instead.

Just kidding. This whole thing is an expensive marketing exercise so Purdue Brand Studio can boost their "earned media" numbers. They don't really care if they find the actual plane or not. (And they won't - it's most likely just a dead tree.) The real value here is getting sponsorships, increased donations, and seeing Purdue's name plastered everywhere.

I used to go to Purdue and built a little browser game for this "vibecode a game" competition on Handshake that puts this to the test. I took some inspiration from a game on Roblox + jklm.fun, so if it looks familiar, then congratulations for recognizing it. Credits to the original creator are in the footer. :)

Someone plays “apple,” now you need a word starting with E. No repeats, and the timer gets shorter as you go. Pretty straightforward until your brain decides it has never encountered the English language... or Spanish.... German... or even Roman Numerals.

You can make a private room for 2–5 people and send your friends the code. No download or account signup unless you want to save your rank and player data.

Curious whether this would survive a study break with your friends. What would make you want a rematch?
