[Meta] Puns Mod Newsletter
I hope everyone has been doing well. There seem to be a few things we need to sort out.
1. This is a puns sub
Puns are not just any type of joke or wordplay, and not just any type of wordplay or jokes are allowed. Puns either utilize different meanings of the same word, or they utilize 2 similarly-sounding words. They are not simply dad jokes, parodies, memes, cliches/idioms, rebuses (word pictures), anagrams, spoonerisms, or other types of wordplay. Not every joke is a pun, and not every pun is funny or even intended as a joke. Also, this is not the place to post nonsense, gibberish, dating requests, random recipes, posts related to Pune (that's in India, not wordplay), or social posts.
2. Do not post the same thing multiple times in a row
If you are new, your posts will be held for review. Other times, mods will remove them. The mods are not obligated to say why they removed your posts. Just be patient and see if they will be approved within a couple of days. If not, try using modmail or at least read the rules, the wiki, and the posts that are approved, and see if what you post follows precedent.
3. For now, AI images are allowed
We know not everyone likes AI images. The mods' intention and focus are that there are puns. Any images exist to make the pun clear, not to win art awards. Nobody gets paid for posting their images on Reddit, so it isn't taking revenue from artists. If you don't like AI images, please do not complain about them or report them. That said, all other rules must apply to AI images. Posts are not to be hateful, defamatory, violating copyright/trademarks, threatening, libelous, abusive, spam, disruptive, or targeting individuals or protected groups, regardless of whether they are AI-generated.

A village in Italy
A town in medieval Italy had a spring that the town had grown up around. The spring had medicinal properties and the villagers built a stone lined pool to collect the spring water. After many years the town fathers decided that, although the spring attracted many visitors, they needed a new fountain and larger pool to show off their medicinal spring. They hired a noted sculptor/fountain designer to design and construct their new fountain. He accepted, and he designed a fountain that met the town fathers approved. The town fathers instructed him to construct it behind canvas covered scaffolding because they wanted their villagers to be as impressed with it as much as visitors would when it was unveiled. The sculptor worked with his crew behind the scaffolding for several months, maintaining the secrecy the town fathers requested.
The night before the unveiling, the town drunk was staggering through the town center, tripped, fell, and rolled under the scaffolding. He climbed to his feet, but, astonished by the beauty of the new fountain, staggered backwards into the scaffolding, rebounded to the fountain, fell over the outside wall and fell into the pool. His drink bottle fell out into the pool and shattered, spilling his licquer into the pool. Very soon the water got colder and the drunk scampered out of the pool and turned to look. Very soon he saw the spraying water and pool froze over, which, as you might expect, surprised him. The night watchman, having heard the commotion at the new fountain, came around the scaffolding, saw the drunk and the frozen fountain. The drunk turned to him and said "Absinthe makes the font grow harder".

Pun request: a short friend-group name built around 'CHA'
Our school's name starts with 'CHA', and we'd love a short, memorable friend-group name with a clever pun using those letters — something with a double meaning or a sound-alike twist.
A rival friend group has been called Ice for over a year, but we want a name of our own, not a copy of theirs. What's the best CHA-based pun you can come up with? If you've heard a great friend-group name that uses a similar trick, we'd love the inspiration too. Original suggestions are welcome!

You can't throw a handful of sodium chloride towards a police officer, that‘s a salt!

Punny name for a chili cook off
My friend entered me into a chili competition and I have to come up with a name for it. It doesn’t have to be a creative funny name, but the sign up sheet says it’s encouraged lol

[Request] REQUEST: Help name my tape dispensers
I work in a warehouse and have been naming the tape dispensers with permanent marker in order to help keep track of them.
So far I have:
- Sticky Martin
- Taper Swift
- Sello Green
I’m trying to avoid repeating puns (like Sticky Gervais or Stick James), but I’m starting to draw blanks.
Musician puns highly regarded but not necessary.
Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.
