What if "Blade Runner 2099" is a covert sequel to "Prometheus"?
The series revives the theory that both franchises created by Ridley Scott are connected. On November 25, the miniseries Blade Runner 2099 will arrive on Prime Video, continuing the story of the franchise started by Ridley Scott in 1982, which has led to the resurgence of the theory about the relationship between this saga and "Alien", both created by the director of "Gladiator". The two franchises have common elements that have fueled speculation for years that their stories take place in the same universe, and with the new miniseries, they practically share a chronology.
This would be nothing more than a curiosity were it not for the fact that the Blu-ray extras of Prometheus included a document by Peter Weyland that referenced a former mentor and competitor. Although his name was never mentioned directly, the clues pointed to Eldon Tyrell, founder of the corporation responsible for manufacturing the replicants in Blade Runner. His experiments with artificial beings and implanted memories, two fundamental elements of the 1982 film, were also mentioned. For now, there is no official confirmation that Blade Runner 2099 and Prometheus share a universe. However, Ridley Scott's involvement and the shared theme of artificial life in both stories offer an opportunity to revive this theory of a connection. Blade Runner 2099 will star Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer. The story takes place fifty years after Blade Runner 2049, in a future where replicants have defeated humanity and become the dominant species. Yeoh will play Olwen, a replicant nearing the end of her life, while Schafer will portray Cora, a human trying to survive by posing as a replicant.
