The reason for this time period and location is simple: A dramatic ending caused by the Nördlinger Ries meteor. There are also some cool animals like large bear dogs, giant tortoises, Deinotheriidae, gomphotheres and Anisodon. Plus, the Miocene wasn't in the first series at all.

I wanted to make this for a presentation I have for class, so I thought i would share with you all

"This Order did see the rise of vertebrates, conquered the seas, survived the Cambrian instability, glaciations, asteroid bombardment, the late Devonian, volcanic eruptions, saw rings on the planet, witnessed land's development from mere spores to grand forests, became among the most successful animals of all time, outlived its predators, and recall the orogenies which made Laurasia and Pangaea. Our Order has lived for two hundred and seventy million years. If this is the last of Earth we shall see, then as my people fall, I will fall with them." - The last Trilobite, probably.

And you can clearly see how it stuck around
