It doesn’t make any sense. People are dying because of these damn prices,, why does congress want this?!

The answer is and will always be capitalism and money

Its not capitalism, its anti capitalism. Its fda approval and stuff that makes these prices so high, they're way cheaper in other countries, and if it was legal to import them they'd be as cheap in the us

This is possibly the most stupid comment I've seen today.

Darn that cursed FDA and their checking of medications to assure they don't kill or harm people.

Can't we just depend on nobody* elsewhere being dead to see it is totally safe?

Well, I'm just explaining why drugs are more expensive in the US than anywhere else and has absolutely nothing to do with capitalism.

You're absolutely incorrect about this. The answer is uneqivocally profit. It's exactly the logical outcome of capitalism. Blaming it on the FDA is wild.

??? Are you implying a company selling a bottle of insulin (randomly chosen) in the US makes LESS money than the same company selling that insulin in Germany?

No of course, they're making way more money in the US, but that has nothing to do with capitalism with capitalism. They would make exactly the same amount of money corrected for supply and demand. But when you start imposing arbitrary limitations on imports and exports , because regulation , then there are massive discrepancies between prices across jurisdictions

My g... they manufacture a lot of the meds here that they sell here... how deep into the kool-aid are you??

Just the fact you recognized they make a wide margin more in profits here but you blame other things for the high prizes is gobsmacking. They can, at any time, decrease their total gained profits per sale by decreasing the cost to the consumer and STILL be making metric tons worth of money

You’re talking about corporatism, which is different than capitalism.

Not capitalism... .just corruption and political contributions to control the vote by big business

The opposite of capitalism is death so I’ll deal with it tbh

People are quite literally dying because they cant afford these meds, meanwhile in other countries people are getting these meds on demand and at 1/10th of the cost.

I do gotta ssy though i respect the amount of work youve put in to become this dumb.
