April 2022, he proposed this as part of an amendment to the inflation reduction act, and it would apply to Medicare part B and D, matching them to another VA program. It was voted down because there were already other items in the package that the party was trying to pass. This is where the 99-1 number came from, and the Inflation Reduction Act ended up passing.

April 2026, Sanders actually brought forth an amendment that did reduce prescription drug prices by more than 50%, the number cited in the photo. It failed 49-49. Every single Democrat and independent voted in favor, 3 Republicans voted in favor.

Bernie is probably tired of this meme, since it discourages people from voting for the party that would pass healthcare reform.

This right here. The meme is very misleading and plays into the falsehood that is the "both sides are equally bad" narrative. Both sides just aren't equally bad, the Republicans are orders of magnitude worse than the Democrats. Are the Dems perfect? No, but they are significantly better than the Republicans and anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or isn't that bright.

Just remember; not voting in the midterms helps the Republican party a lot more than it hurts them, and those who choose not to vote (or vote for third-party candidates with no hope of winning) are effectively voting for the Republican (as the action helps them whether you intend it to or not). Vote for the nominated Democratic candidate in November; you don't have to like everything they do, but you should be able to recognize that the Democrats and way better than the Republicans.

You know, I don’t really like republicans, either, but when you say arrogant bullshit like I must be lying or not that bright, then I don’t like YOU either. I think there tons of reasons to disagree with both bullshit parties who care nothing about me, and I am both truthful and bright. If you really want me to come out and vote for your side, maybe consider and different tack. 🖕

Well for what it’s worth, I didn’t hate you until you opened your mouth.

I mean, you can if you WANT to, but that changes literally nothing about the day-to-day lives of two strangers.

A quick glance at your comment history leads me to the conclusion that your dislike for Republican lawmakers and the aggressively negative impact they're having on the world we live in on both large and small scales is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than your dislike for seeing random people on the internet calling out the Republican party for its destructive behavior. Case in point, Zuka's above comment strictly highlights how inherently dangerous the "Both Sides Are X So I Don't Need To Choose" argument is, then states that we as a collective need to do better than that and stop the people who are hurting our fellow man. You read this, and responded to it as-if it were a personal attack on you and your intelligence.

I could dunk on you or ragebait you for a comment chain, but I don't think anything I could say/do in any further responses would be a better summary of the character you've put on display in this thread. Personally, I think that kind of reaction is a red flag that isn't going to lead to a very happy life for you or the people around you, and that you should ask yourself why a comment pleading with Americans as a whole to do better made you so upset.

...Or don't, because again, as two strangers, any changes to your personal life will never impact me in any way, and vice versa.

I do hope you choose to make the world a better place for the people in it though 👍

What else was in the bills republicans voted against? You say it was just republicans being idiots, but what else was in those bills?

Any policy ever that would assist Americans in living. Take your pick. Naturally, the automatic “No, fuck off” veto system we know as Republicanism declined to have any form of economic or fiscal responsibility. Also probably something about stopping the really creepy inquisition into trans people, because we have bigger fish to fry than people I couldn’t give less of a fuck about. Talk to me about gas prices and groceries before trans, I genuinely could not give a fuck

I really couldn't have said it better myself! The Republicans are worse on every issue; culture, economics, foreign policy, healthcare, education, the military... One could literally name any policy subject and it would be pretty easy to explain how the Democrats are better than the Republicans on it.
