This is their whole playbook. Spend 3 days straight calling James Talarico a liar and spreading that hospital rumor to every Facebook group in Texas, then when the NYT pulls the time-stamped security footage that proves he was never even there, they go "well why didn't HE debunk it faster?" They are never going to apologize. The damage is the point.
