I love you

Your eyes are deep as the sea, let me drown, let me be.

Your smile brightens my day, like a glimmer of light in the rain.

Your hair like silk spun soft by morning light, keeping me mesmerised through the night.

Your skin like porcelain, a godess divine, a beauty so rare I wish you were mine.

Your voice like a melody, gentle and sweet, a song that always make my heart skip a beat.

Your touch like velvet, your warmth like the sun, in a world full of billions you’re my only one.

Your everything, the answer to a question I never knew to ask, your love the only thing I’d ever wish to last.

Facades

• Upvotes

Went to the pastor
Confessing my sins,
Only for him to turn
And preach them back to me.

In a grey world
We learn to cling to hope
Only when we bleed to misery.

Wolf in a sheep’s clothing.
We learn to shed our skin.
Only in darkness.Do we find ourselves.

What is light to a sinner.
When it is everything to a saint.
What is candor to a human
When it is everything to the soul?

The irony of faces.
Through changing spaces.
In which facade do we place our faith
Amidst illusions of mankind?

Probably my own.

Drunk on Love

Maaaaan, what to write, what to write?

I’m drunk, and so you’d think I’d have more to say. Perhaps my love for her remains unchanged, or so I’d like to think.

I’ve always wanted to bring out the best in her. Make her notice my name and say it a little lovelier than last time.

I just want to hear her say it. Play it on repeat. I know I couldn’t help myself.

I’ve been murmuring baby to myself for the past year, in the depths of my longing.

I wonder how she would respond to that. If she, too, has waves pulling at her tongue, sinking down to her heart.

I’ve made stupid choices in my life, drawing me further from the shore.

Hoping her lifeboat would drift by, telling myself that it should be me, with an aching of a tearful sea.

I should’ve saved her. I should save her. I can still…

I…

Still,

I carry hope, for if there’s anything keeping me afloat, it’s her.

Even when I’ve forgotten her voice, forgotten her smile, and gone blind.

I’ll never dry up.

Not with the hold she has on my eyes, my soul.

So for now, I’ll simply go on and enjoy the rest of my beer.

Cheers. 🍻

Her New Disguise

The quiet was heavy, the cycle the same
I’d leave just to crawl right back into the flame.
I missed that cold numbness, the safety of gray,
Until I found reasons to keep you away.

I found someone new who’s just cool as can be,
Who writes me her verses and looks over at me.

She’s steady and genuine, making things bright,
A whole different world in the middle of sight.

I came back tonight just to bid you adieu,
To tell you I’m done and I’m making it through.
There's someone ahead with a genuine smile,
A whole life to build and a long happy while.

So goodbye to the loop and the comfort of blue...
Except... there’s no her. It was always just you.

I dressed up my flaws in the shape of a spark,
Just to see if you'd care while I stayed in the dark.

Would You Have Told Me?

I never wanted to beg to feel secure,

Or question whether your love was sure.

I only wanted the things you say

To find me before my fears get in the way.

When you write me poems and call me dear,

I want to believe there's nothing to fear.

But when you go quiet, my thoughts take flight,

And turn a small silence into a sleepless night.

Would he have told me if I hadn't asked?

Would he have reassured me if I hadn't gotten upset?

Is he saying this because he means it,

Or because he's trying to fix the situation yet?

I hate that these questions live in my mind,

That even your sweetness feels hard to define.

I wonder if your words would come on their own,

Or if I must hurt before I'm shown.

I don't want reassurance I have to pursue,

Or feel that I'm forcing the words out of you.

I want you to notice when something feels wrong,

To reach for my heart before fear grows strong.

I want to feel chosen without asking why,

To trust what you tell me without asking you to reply.

Not because I demand that you prove yourself each day,

But because I need to know your love won't quietly fade away.

I know that my past has taught me to fear,

To search for the ending whenever love's near.

I know my fears can distort what I see,

And make me doubt the love you give to me.

But how do I learn to believe what you say,

When those who once promised still walked away?

How do I trust that your love will remain,

Without preparing my heart for the familiar pain?

Perhaps what I want is more than a vow,

More than a promise of “I'm here with you now.”

I want the kind of love that makes me feel seen,

Where I don't have to question what silence might mean.

And still, I am frightened of needing you so,

Of giving you pieces I once let go.

I want to believe every word that you say,

But I'm scared I'll believe you, then lose you one day.

So tell me, my love, when I finally ask,

And my fear has uncovered the hurt I have masked,

Would you have reached for me if I had stayed silent,

Or must I fall apart before your love becomes apparent?

Saudade

• Upvotes

Extending my fingers outwards trying desperately to reach you,

While you curl yours into a fist.

I’ll accept the punch gracefully if you promise to not use gloves.

No matter how much it hurts it’s still your skin touching mine and I will take what I can get.

When at last you return to the river to wash me from your mouth,

I will make my way downstream and let the river swallow me,

while I swallow each fortunate drop of water that has touched your tongue.

Twin Flame

You are my twin flame

Burning in my brain

Melted my wall

You made me fall

You broke me open

What you were hoping

Exposed my flaws

You were the cause

Dancing while burning

Loving but hurting

Still on my mind

Two of a kind

Mirrored who I was

Loving just because

Couldn't understand

Holding my hand

If Time Were Ours to Rewrite

What if the hands of time could turn,
And all we thought we knew could change?
If memories were coded into the mind,
Knowing they could be rewritten or rearranged.

She's travelled through a thousand revelations,
Through borrowed hours and fractured years,
Found wisdom where the darkness lingered,
And measured time in love and tears.

For if the mind could be recoded,
Its memories altered or restored,
Would you return the clock to undo yesterday,
Or seek a future unexplored?

And fuck it, why not let her live?
Has she not learned enough by now?
Must every second hold another revelation,
Another question of why and how?

She never asked to govern time,
Nor carry every secret ever told,
Though she could dismantle all
That any mortal has ever known.
Yet she'd rather dance beneath the stars,
And find a little warmth to hold.

She's seen enough to question everything,
From love and memory to fate,
And wonders whether hearts once parted
Could meet before the hour grows late.

So, Kronos, if you lent your hourglass,
And let her wander through its sand,
Would you take her where two hearts first met,
Or somewhere neither life had planned?

Would you reverse the years of sorrow,
Or let their lessons gently stay?
Would you show her all the lives not lived,
Or grant her one unburdened day?

For every second holds a history,
Each passing hour another choice,
And somewhere in the folds of yesterday,
A heart still recognises another's voice.

For all her insight, all her wonder,
One simple truth remains quite clear:
She has nothing left to fear.

And if you could take her anywhere,
Beyond the reach of yesterday,
Where would you take her in time, and why?
And would you let her choose to stay?

For if the mind could hold new memories,
And old perceptions could be changed,
Would love remain the one true constant
When every moment was rearranged?

Could you unwind the threads of destiny,
Return the sands to where they fell?
Or would the hearts that once belonged
Still recognise each other well?

Perhaps the greatest gift of all
Is neither prophecy nor fate,
But letting her relearn what love is,
Without the weight of years that wait.

And after all she's come to question,
Perhaps a little faith will do.
For if you could turn back the hands of time,
Would you begin again with her too?

And somewhere in the folds of time,
She remembers Alanis in Dogma with a smile,
That cheery, childlike wonder of creation,
Finding joy in existence all the while.

For after such an emotional journey,
She's only just found strength to rise,
To gather herself in the mortal world,
With a thousand questions still in her eyes.

And nothing feels quite as real as once it did,
For her perspective has profoundly changed.
She sees beyond the familiar boundaries,
Where time and meaning rearrange.

And no, she is not insane for questioning
The things that others cannot understand.
She asks for neither blind acceptance
Nor judgement from an unseen hand.

Could any among you have endured
The weight of all she's travelled through?
And still be standing, still be breathing,
With the courage to begin anew?

Only some of you will fully understand those questions she presents to you.

Perhaps this is how the story had to unfold - the masterplan,
Through every sorrow, hope and fear,
Her emotional journey traced in words,
For anyone who cares to hear.

Each verse reveals another chapter,
Each change of heart, another day,
A record of a woman finding strength
When everything familiar fell away.

For even after all she's travelled through,
And everything she's yet to understand,
She deserves some insight,
And let tomorrow take her hand.

Who among you is prepared to speak,
To discuss what might be done?
While others seem renewed and rested,
She bears exhaustion when day is done.

The buzzing marks her waking hours,
Yet still she questions, still she stands.
Within her tale, the Creator shaped her
With purpose only time understands.

So when the hour for truth arrives,
Let wisdom speak and kindness stay.
And when you're ready for an honest conversation,
Come forward gently and guide the way.

But for now, she'll find a sweeter buzzing,
A little dopamine to brighten up the night.
Exhausted though her body may be,
She's still entitled to some delight.

She lost her favourite toys along the way,
Now where's the fun or fairness in that?
Even a weary woman deserves her pleasures,
And a cheeky grin beneath her cosmic hat.

For if the hours insist on buzzing,
She might as well enjoy a thrill or two.
A little pleasure, laughter and release,
And something rather naughty to pursue.

He seems to approve too! 😉

I don't know you yet.

I don't know you yet. I don't know where you are, likely at home. I don't know what you do, likely lie in bed. And I don't know what you think right now.

I wish I would. I wish I would know where to look for you. I wish I knew what you'd like, what you aspire, what makes you smile. I wish I could find you and tell your we are meant to be.

But I can't.

You're somewhere out there. You have to be.... Cuz if you aren't this emptiness inside me will never disappear. It will always pull on me to find you.

It will always remind me that it's there. Cuz this emptiness fells like there's a piece out there matching it. This emptiness, I feel it everywhere.

In my hands at night, when they both feel like they're missing their counterpart. When they get cold from my open window and it just feels they're supposed to be wrapped up in someone else's hands right now.

On my waist whenever I come to a stop, when it feels like a pair of arms should exist out there that match their curve. When I cook and the idea of being hugged from behind feels so right I can almost feel it. Just almost.

Anytime I lie down to rest and theres space. Anytime I go visit my parents and drive alone. Anytime I achieve something and I wish I had someone to make proud with it. Anytime I wish It wasn't just me out here.

I wish I could find you. To share with you. To dedicate my every step to making you smile. Because even though I don't know you yet, I am sure it will be all I need.

I'm sure you will be all I need.

Your smile. I bet it's beautiful and pure. I bet once I see it, I'll never need any other reward in my life. It must be. Because I will love you, with all my being.

Your eyes. I am certain they are a sight to get lost in. I am certain once I see them, I will fall for you. I will love them, because they are a part of you.

Your passions. I know we won't have the same and that's good. I want to hear you talk about them, explain things to me and get lost in your own thoughts. Because I will be able to see how happy they make you.

I just wish you were here so bad right now. Looking over my shoulder, smiling and commenting on this: "Why you writing this... You already got me!" How I wish you'd say that right now.

How I wish you would meet me tomorrow. How I wish we could write our own story. How I wish I could cherish you. How I wish I could hold you.

I don't know you yet and maybe that's what scares me the most about this. You might be out there. But maybe you aren't. Maybe I am not meant to fill this emptiness. Maybe I'll never get to know you.

Edit: Restored original line spacing, cuz it looked weird before.

Dreams

I still close my eyes

In front of that beach

It's tearing me to smithereens

To still see you in my dreams

A part of you still left inside of me

Impulsive trip up to your hometown

Walking down hand in hand

You molded yourself to me so perfectly

Now I'm walking to the exit scene

You're slipping farther away from me

Death is silent and stiff.
But at least you died on your terms.
At home.

An old lady feline who just got tired.
And then more tired.
Looking for the next spot
Until finally
Lying down.

For the last time.

Folly

• Upvotes

Being a fool is a bliss

Words won't hurt you,

And the truth is worthless,

Because you are a fool.

Being a fool is a blessing

You don't need to face the cruel reality.

Their stares will mean nothing.

Their laugh will be just a laugh.

Being a fool takes courage

To forget everything and pretend.

Pretending to be a fool is to be happy.

Life would be easy if you know nothing.

I wanted to be a fool,

But I can't. I can't un-know.

I can't eat everything and anything.

But I want to be a fool, so it won't hurt anymore.

I wrote while crying. 🤧

A Perfect World

Looking up the hill
It seems a bit steep
Might make me ill
Collapse in a heap

It's not that bad
Just been a bit bound
Homebody a tad
Feet on the ground

Thought I should touch
A bit of that grass
Opened the hutch
Out went my ass

So here I am
Staring up at a hill
Not really my jam
Would rather chill

An invisible hand
A slap to the face
You make that stand
Are you man or disgrace

So up I go schlepping
All the way to the top
With nothing prepping
Me for the drop...

The top of the hill is crowned by a quarter mile track
Forming a horseshoe crest tilted open end downward
With the inner edge gently dropping back down to form
A shallow bowl-shaped valley like an amphitheater of grass
Dotted with a few people resting and relaxing here and there

A family walks along the track, the kids buzzing about the folks
Three friends lounge on two blankets reading, sleeping, dreaming
A couple sits cozily side-by-side sharing their thoughts and smiles
A lone guitar player practices, softly plucking inscrutable songs
Clapping and laughing, a father teaches his daughter how to ride a bike

The smell of the grass can only be described as nature fresh and free
Stinging the nose with a little honey and cinnamon and burnt wood
Tiny white flowers occasionally peek out and invite the bees
To dance about and throw some of that flower dust all around
The tired sun gets ready for bed casting a gold orange glow

The beauty of the entire scene brings to mind that movie
With that guy who did math and saw numbers floating around
All that was is perfectly balanced with all that will be
In a timeless fashion the solution so obvious yet profound
The mind cannot fathom any other way it could have been

I let out a breath I'd been holding inside for so long
My eyes well up the tears burning the edges of my solitude
I think to myself, "This is it. This is it. This is it."
I walk into the bowl and settle down my weary bones
My senses soak up all that surrounds me, a perfect world

The Biggest Threat You Face

meet yourself and greet your maker

the world is made of lies

the little force is weak

but of the two, it's greater

drop a secret like a wish

be discreet with all the haters

deceit is dripping down your widow's peak

filling up that empty crater

where your heart's supposed to be

an empty note says 'see you later'

lucky stones upon your dresser and all those special crystals

they're never gonna save ya

my computer's always on, now i miss my old screen saver

if it was easy to detach, i wouldn't need to write a thing

the ball and chain is human nature

scrolling down the rambling feeds

at least we're sparing trees by saving all the paper

face the hidden hand when it reaches for your neighbors

i'll never understand the trust in modern man

and the love for all the fakers

i prefer the wild to all the mild-mannered

crazy is my favorite flavor

can't trap them in a box

evading every label, they're escaping their containers

finders, seekers play for keeps

and when you lose it all, i know you're gonna blame us

exhaustion stains the faces of everyone who's famous

they mistake this for complaining

but i'm the best explainer

throw your status down the drain

while you're soaking your retainer

if you're having trouble sleeping, open up a book

and read it like a seventh grader

karma's slowly catching up

like an endless escalator

place your back against the wall

and fend off the imitators

the inmates run the prison now

and the biggest threat you face

isn't hate or violence

it's your own erasure

Relax, breathe

relax, breathe
in through your nose, out through your mouth

heart beat thumps against my rib cage
as my eyes begin to blur

it’s becoming more frequent, i don’t know how much i can endure

word caught in my throat as I squeeze my shaky hands

how do i conquer something no one fully understands?

relax, breathe
drop your shoulders, unclench your fists

perhaps a new hobby? a new job to keep my brain entertained?

something shiney and new to keep stability maintained

if there is room to worry, there is room to be productive

no reason to let these litte worries become destructive

relax, breathe
wiggle your toes, ground your feet

lean on your loved ones, just focus on breathing

let them decide the next step, you can skip the deceiving

“what’s wrong with you?”, “you need to figure it out.”

i can hear it in my sleep, must you be so loud?

relax, breathe
hands behind your head, feel your own hair line

kind eyes, knowing eyes, ones unknown to me

ones that wouldn’t hurt if in the end, you decided to flee

a safe place to sit, a safe place to cry

a safe place to rest, a safe place to die

often, words stuck in my head unable to be released out my mouth

the pressure too much, strong enough to make me blackout

relax, breathe
my heart thumping, my breath choking

shut my eyes, open my ears.

focus on your words and not on my fears

A Part Of Me

• Upvotes

A Part Of Me

A boy who thought, he already matured,

A boy who thought, he became a man,

But there was no pain he had endured,

Unaware that what came next might last a lifespan.

An Excited Explorer entered his solitude,

With an energy he had never seen before,

Of curiosity, friendliness and a bit of a sarcastic attitude,

Eager to learn and add more to her lore.

She made him notice things most people can't,

And helped him discover a side of himself he never knew there could be,

Now he watches as they go, the fascinating red ants,

And what was left of her in him was now something he could call "A part of me".

The boy changed a lot since,

The things he noticed kept him awake,

But now he noticed thinking of her made him wince,

Because now he owed her so much but he couldn't do anything for her sake.

More than two eyes

When my heart was hollow,

And my body filled with sorrow.

Heard your voice so sweet like the chirps of a sparrow,

And when I saw you, I was struck by cupid's arrow.

You should be in an art gallery for your beauty,

Or rather in a temple, worshiped as a deity.

I wish I were born as one of the dragonflies,

To see your beauty, I need more than two of my eyes.

I would want to be the light,

To reflect off you and bless the world with your sight.

I searched all books in the library,

And all words from a dictionary.

But there was nothing I could find,

To describe what was in my mind,

When I found you in that white dress,

Felt a sharp pain in my chest.

Knew that you were the one in my life,

Can I take you home as my wife.

First poem

I had a depressive and dpdr episode and wrote something never did this before but I’m proud. I would like to improve for my next ones so I would gladly except constructive criticism.

A shadow follows every thought I think
Failure is no believe it’s a prophecy
A .38 just to blow some steam
A silent world can’t you hear me scream
Is there a meaning to this fading light?
Or just another star lost in the night
The world spin in color that I can’t see
I looked at mirror and I couldn’t perceive
Is that really me or am I blind

if only you had waited a little longer (TW) NSFW

if only you had waited a little longer

maybe your family would ask you for a favor

maybe they needed help, maybe you could solve it

maybe you could solve everything

your friend would call you, saying they have a surprise

maybe they bought a new house, maybe they married, maybe they won the lottery... but it would all come crashing down

maybe you were a glance away from meeting the love of your life, having kids, taking care of them, maybe you could be grandparents... but you missed out on it. you couldn't hold on

maybe the tiniest hope that you're clinging to would soon allow you to reach your dreams... maybe you wanted a palace, maybe you wanted calm and balance... maybe that hope would solve all your problems...

maybe, just maybe, the "maybe's" you once considered would become real. maybe the years of work you did wouldn't be in vain... maybe, you wouldn't leave everyone loving you behind when you heard the big news you would get a few hours later.

it is too unfortunate, if only you had waited a little longer, the garden of life would spring, and you'd see it flower

If You Were Here

If you could see inside my mind,
the places that we go,
the little dreams I have of us
and things you'll never know.

I'd pull you close and kiss your lips,
and hold you for a while,
I'd whisper all the things I feel
and melt beneath your smile.

I'd spend my mornings next to you,
my evenings in your arms,
and fall asleep beside you,
so safe and loved and warm.

And sometimes when I close my eyes,
I almost feel you near,
close enough to make me smile,
then wish that you were here.

But until dreams become our days,
and all our wishes come true,
I'll keep on dreaming every night
of waking up with you.

The Anatomy of a Dying Star POEM V

WHAT THE VOID COULD NOT DEVOUR

Your fingers touched the darkness.

And the universe blinked.

The creature's chest unfolded wider,

Its ribs stretched across the sky.

Behind them, countless dying worlds

Hung where forgotten dreams go to die.

Then everything went quiet.

No wind.

No heartbeat.

Not even the sound of our own breath.

"Well," I muttered,

"Either we've just unlocked some ancient secret,

Or we've made a spectacularly stupid decision."

You almost laughed.

Then the darkness pulled us through.

We landed in a place without a horizon,

Where fragments of memories floated like glass.

Some glowed with warmth and laughter,

Others held things we'd buried in the past.

A doorway stood before us.

Behind it, a younger version of you

Sat alone beneath a flickering light.

Someone was speaking.

Their words were sharp.

You watched yourself grow quiet,

Learning not to argue back.

Learning that sometimes disappearing

Felt safer than facing an attack.

You looked away.

"I don't want to see this."

"Then we don't have to."

But you stayed.

And I stayed beside you.

Another doorway opened.

This time, I recognised the room.

There I was, years younger,

Trying desperately to be heard.

Explaining myself to someone

Who barely acknowledged a word.

I watched that younger version of me

Grow frustrated, then afraid.

And somewhere in the desperation,

A familiar pattern was made.

Chase the answer.

Fix the distance.

Don't let the silence win.

Even when the other person

Hadn't asked to let me in.

"Shit," I whispered.

You looked at me.

"Yeah."

Neither of us needed to explain.

We kept walking.

Past memories we'd forgotten,

And others we'd rather erase.

Past all the little ways we'd learned

To keep the world in its place.

Until we reached a clearing.

There stood the creature.

No longer towering over galaxies.

No claws scraping through the stars.

It sat beneath a dead tree,

Its enormous body folded in on itself.

And for the first time,

It looked exhausted.

"What the hell is it doing?" you asked.

I shook my head.

Then we heard it.

A voice from somewhere inside.

I didn't know how to say I was hurt.

Another followed.

I thought if I walked away, I'd be safe.

Then another.

I was scared you'd stop caring.

And one more.

I didn't want to admit I was wrong.

You stared at the creature.

"Those are..."

"Yeah," I said.

"Ours."

The creature slowly lifted its head.

And suddenly I understood

Why it had never attacked.

Why it copied our movements.

Why it carried familiar voices

And reached towards us with trembling hands.

It hadn't been chasing us.

It had been following the pieces

We kept leaving behind.

Every feeling we'd dismissed.

Every truth we'd twisted to protect our pride.

Every frightened part of ourselves

We'd pushed somewhere deep inside.

The creature wasn't born from hatred.

It wasn't some ancient punishment

Sent to tear our worlds apart.

It was what remained

When we kept abandoning ourselves

In the name of protecting our hearts.

You stepped towards it.

"So we've been running from ourselves?"

"Looks that way."

"That's pretty fucked."

"Yeah. The universe has a strange sense of humour."

The creature lowered its head.

You reached towards its face.

This time, it didn't recoil.

And where your hand touched,

The darkness began to change.

Not into something beautiful.

Not into some glowing angel

With a convenient lesson to teach.

It remained strange.

Uncomfortable.

Difficult to understand.

But it no longer seemed unreachable.

"Maybe that's the thing," I said.

"We keep treating the parts of ourselves

We don't like as enemies.

The anger.

The fear.

The shame.

We try to bury them,

Then wonder why they keep turning up

Wearing a different name."

You sat beside the creature.

"So what are we supposed to do?

Just accept everything about ourselves?"

"Nah. Understanding something

Doesn't mean giving it permission

To keep causing damage.

You can understand why you shut down

And still learn to communicate.

I can understand why I chase answers

And still learn to wait.

Our past might explain the patterns,

But it doesn't get to decide our fate."

You ran your fingers across its skin.

"That sounds harder than just walking away."

"Probably is."

"And what if I can't?"

I sat beside you.

"Then you start with what you can.

Nobody masters themselves overnight.

And anyone claiming they have

Is probably full of shit."

You laughed.

A proper laugh this time.

And for a moment,

Even the creature seemed less alone.

Above us, the dead tree began to move.

Its roots rose from the ground,

Twisting into the shape of a throne.

The same throne we'd seen in the city.

The same crown of black iron

Rested upon its seat.

But this time, something was different.

There were no chains.

No guards.

No ancient god demanding obedience.

Just an empty throne.

Waiting.

You looked at it.

"Who's supposed to sit there?"

I thought about everything we'd seen.

The broken worlds.

The memories.

The creature we'd mistaken for a monster.

"Maybe that's the point.

We spend so much of our lives

Letting old wounds make our decisions,

Then call those decisions our own.

We rebel against everyone else,

But never question who's sitting on our throne."

The creature rose.

Its body began to unravel,

Not into dust, but countless threads of light.

Some drifted towards you.

Others found their way to me.

They didn't erase our scars.

They simply returned

What we'd spent so long trying not to feel.

And somewhere in that impossible place,

The dead tree finally bloomed.

Not with flowers.

With stars.

Small, imperfect things,

Burning quietly among the branches.

You looked at me.

"So what happens now?"

I watched the stars flicker.

"That's up to us, isn't it?"

You frowned.

"After everything we've been through,

That's all you've got?"

I smiled.

"Well, what did you expect?

Some cosmic bastard to hand us

A certificate saying we've healed?"

You shook your head, laughing.

Then the smile faded.

"But seriously.

What if we hurt each other again?"

"We might.

But I don't reckon the strongest connections

Are the ones where nobody gets hurt.

They're the ones where people can say,

'That hurt me,'

Without it becoming a war.

Where someone can admit,

'Yeah, I fucked up,'

Without feeling like they've lost their worth.

Where we can disagree,

Take space,

Come back,

And actually try to understand."

You looked towards the throne.

"And if one person keeps trying

While the other doesn't?"

"Then it isn't something

One person can build alone.

You can't force someone to face themselves.

And you shouldn't have to lose yourself

Trying to convince them to."

The stars above us shifted.

For the first time,

The darkness seemed to have an end.

A narrow path appeared,

Leading towards a distant sunrise.

You stood.

I stood beside you.

Neither of us knew

Where that path would lead.

Or whether we'd walk it together

For a mile, a lifetime,

Or somewhere in between.

But something had changed.

We weren't standing there

Waiting for the other person

To become someone different.

We were standing there

Knowing what was ours to work on.

And what wasn't.

You took a step towards the light.

Then stopped.

"One last thing."

"Go on."

"Do you think that creature's really gone?"

I looked back.

The tree stood alone now,

Its branches full of unfamiliar stars.

"No," I said.

"I don't think it ever really leaves.

And maybe it shouldn't.

Because the day we think

We've got nothing left to confront

Is probably the day

We stop paying attention."

You nodded.

Then we started walking.

And behind us,

From somewhere beneath the roots,

Came three quiet knocks.

You froze.

I looked back.

Nothing moved.

Then a voice whispered

From somewhere neither of us could see.

The darkness was never your prison.

It was the part of you

still waiting to be heard.

We continued towards the sunrise.

Not healed.

Not perfect.

Not promised forever.

Just two people who'd seen

What happens when fear is given the throne.

And who now understood

That a connection worth keeping

Requires more than wanting it to last.

It requires the courage

To be seen when we're not at our best.

To hear a truth without turning it into a threat.

To own the hurt we've caused

Without drowning in regret.

And to remember that love, friendship,

Or whatever name we give the bond,

Isn't proven by how tightly we hold on.

It's shown in what we choose to do

When holding on gets hard.

Because even stars can die

While sharing the same sky.

But what destroys a connection

Isn't always the darkness that arrives.

Sometimes it's two people

Who never learn to face it

While there's still something left alive.
