Best Buy/Advice Wait for RX4 / AX or go for RX3?
Hi guys I write you because I am really looking for upgrading my setup next month, I have a teile revolo and a flx10 but I want an all in one, I mainly play with two channels and I am a little bit worried because of getting an rx3 and maybe see a new release from alphateta during these months, do you think I should wait or go for it? I would love to imagine an rx4 with bigger jog wheels but I am not sure if that would happen.
Thanks in advance!
Also a little question, what do you guys think between these two setups?
RX3 / new RX4 vs 2 XDJ 700 and a djm v5
I really enjoy long transitions and reverbs as I mainly play house and melodic house/techno
Thank you all!

CDJ/XDJ Players XDJ-RX3 Jog Wheel feel and sound compared to mechanical jog
I’m currently DJing with a Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT and I absolutely love it. However, since I organize events, I need to switch to a standalone hybrid console (compatible with Rekordbox, Serato, and USB flash drives).
I’ve looked into the XDJ-XZ as well as the OPUS-QUAD and XDJ-AZ, but I find them too bulky to transport and way over my budget. The most logical choice for my needs would be the XDJ-RX3, but I have a major concern regarding the jog wheels.
Being used to the mechanical jog mechanism of the DDJ-1000, I’m worried I won't like them. In the past, I hated touch-sensitive jog wheels (like those on the DDJ-SR or DDJ-SX). I know the RX3 features tension adjustment (Feeling Adjust), but I’d like to understand:
- Does the user feel/response of the RX3 get close to that of mechanical jogs, or does it still feel very similar to a DDJ-SX/SR?
- Is there any noticeable difference in the actual audio sound produced between the two systems?
- Has anyone had the chance to try both?
It would be awesome if someone could share a video showing backspins and simulating some scratches on the jogs.
Thanks!

Speakers Small Speaker, Serious Sound: The xboom Stage 501
Quick disclosure first, same as in my first review: LG sent me the xboom Stage 501 for free after I got picked for this event on r/PioneerDJ (https://www.reddit.com/r/PioneerDJ/comments/1ue7nzl/looking_for_djs_to_test_lg_xboom_stage501/). The deal was that I'd use the speaker and share how it went. Nobody at LG told me what to write, and everything below is my own opinion, nothing else.
Some background, in case you didn't read the first one. I DJ at home, and I'm also part of a small non-profit group, a "Verein," that runs an urban art shop in a small German city. When we do events, music runs all day, opening until late, inside the shop or out on the street depending on what's going on.Â
Monitor duty outside: powerful bass from a compact party speaker
Outside, the Stage 501 was my monitor, on a standard speaker stand right next to the decks. If you've ever tried using a compact Bluetooth speaker as an outdoor DJ monitor, you know why I call this the hardest job you can give one. No walls helping you with bass, and plenty of noise around you. For beatmatching you need clear, strong low end right in front of you, and that's usually where small speakers fall apart. The Stage 501 did better here than I expected, honestly.
Kick and bassline stayed separate, same as I noticed at home in my first review, the mids stayed clean, and there was more level on tap than I ever needed. One thing I picked up along the way: leave Sound Field Enhance off when you're using it as a monitor. That mode is built to spread sound out into a room, not to stay precise right in front of you. My takeaway is simple. If a speaker can survive monitor duty outdoors, a garden party or a street corner is not going to be a problem.
A full day on battery indoors and outdoors
LG advertises up to 25 hours of playtime. I still haven't done a stopwatch test and I probably never will, but this was the real-world version: one charge, from setup in the morning until late in the evening, carried back and forth between the shop and the street whenever we needed music somewhere else, never plugged in once. It made it through the whole day. In fairness, I kept the lighting off during the day and we weren't at full volume the entire time, so I wouldn't count on the full 25 hours with everything switched on.
But battery life just wasn't something I had to think about all day. Not hunting for outlets, not running a cable across a doorway, that changes how you use a speaker more than any number on a spec sheet does.
Why a PartyBox has wheels
The party speaker I owned before this is the JBL PartyBox 310, and I've used it a lot over the years at festivals. Plenty of output, no argument there. It also has its own wheels and a telescopic handle, because it needs them. Anyone who has dragged wheels over cobblestones knows what kind of day that turns into ;). The xboom Stage 501 is a one-person, one-trip carry, and with the four positions (vertical, horizontal, tilted, pole-mounted) it went straight onto a standard stand and looked like a small PA top. For this kind of use, that matters more to me than a few extra dB would.
AI Karaoke, my honest take
On another day it turned into karaoke night, so here's my straight opinion on the AI Karaoke. The Vocal Remover mutes the vocal of whatever you're streaming, level 1 keeps a quiet guide vocal, level 2 removes it almost completely. Honestly? It's not the greatest. On dense productions you can still hear traces of the original vocal, and the processing sucks some life out of the track. For spontaneous fun with zero preparation it does the job, and the Key Changer is genuinely useful because it moves songs into a range normal people can actually sing. But the part that impressed me far more is on the back of the speaker: the mix inputs. We already have a karaoke setup with proper instrumental tracks and mics, and you can plug those straight into the xboom Stage 501. Real instrumentals through the inputs plus a mic plugged in directly sounded far better than the AI route. So my honest advice is to treat the Vocal Remover as the backup plan for spontaneous moments and the mix inputs as the main act if you own any karaoke gear at all.
Compared with the PartyBox this is still a clear win, by the way. The 310 plays what you bring, and if you want karaoke you need ready-made karaoke versions of every song. The xboom Stage 501 gives you options.

The lighting actually surprised me
I expected the built-in AI Lighting to be a gimmick. After dark it was honestly nice. It syncs with the music and seems to read the track instead of just flashing on the beat, calmer in the housier moments, busier when the energy picks up. It costs battery though, so my tip is to keep it off during the day and let it earn its keep in the evening.
So… what compact outdoor speakers deliver powerful sound?
After this day my answer is: the ones that don't make you choose between compact, outdoor and powerful. That combination used to mean picking two out of three. The xboom Stage 501 is the first Bluetooth party speaker I've used where I didn't feel that compromise.
At least that's been my experience so far. Happy to answer questions about the setup in the comments.

3rd Party Software CDJ2000NXS2 - Dual Deck mod
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Why limit yourself to only playing one track on a CDJ?
Dual Deck allows you to play 2 tracks simultaneously on one CDJ.
Requires you to have Digital Out and the Analogue Out connected to the mixer.
Digital output will be used for the 'second deck'.
you can now get this mod on my website's patcher: CDJ-2000NXS2 firmware mods — LNNRT Mods

Controllers DDJ 1000 question
TLDR: have ddj1000, spilled water on the left side, pulled power immediately, left to dry for 2 days, and all seems to work except the cue button is constantly on, is this just a cosmetic consequence? or a potential issue?
Sooo, had my 1000’s for about 5/6 years, always been good to me, and ‘had’ always been in good condition. Except the other day, as it always goes, no drinks near the decks, someone spills a whole drink over them.
Luckily I know to pull the power instantly in this instance, so did that, let the water (water of all things!) drip out as much as I could, then let them sit upside down on a towel and periodically heated them with a hairdryer, hoping to dry up everything.
Left them out to dry for about 2 days before plugging back in and was heating/drying every now and then, and leaving them in the sunlight.
Fast forward to today and i’ve plugged them back in, all seems to be working fine although the left cue button is now constantly lit up. It still functions as it should, it’s just always illuminated (i’ve attached a photo)
So the ultimate question is, is this going to be a long term issue? or is it just a consequence of the water damage? I’m hoping it’s the latter as i can deal with the cue light being on, I just don’t want to cause anymore damage as these are my pride and joy, ALL my speakers are hooked up to the mixer. I’ve currently got it powered off as i don’t want to leave it on and it cause a further issue
Any info or help would be much appreciated!

CDJ/XDJ Players CDJ-2000 customROM FLAC / exFAT support...?
I guess it is safe now to say that certain old PioneerDJ units which are still plenty of out there will never receive important / essential features such as FLAC or exFAT support.
I have seen some modded firmware updates for Pioneer units. So how hard do you think would be to mod firmware so that:
Unit without FLAC support would get FLAC support? Units lacking FLAC support in order of importance / user base: CDJ-2000NXS, XDJ-700, CDJ-2000, XDJ-RR, XDJ-1000, CDJ-850. CDJ-900NXS, CDJ-900, CDJ-350
Unit without exFAT support would get exFAT support...? All the units listed in 1. + the following: CDJ-2000NXS2, XDJ-1000MK2 + maybe couple of others. exFAT was invented in 2006 and support has been lacking most likely due to licensing issues. So I was wondering that maybe there could have been support already from the beginning but it was just disabled to avoid MS license fees and it would be simple to enable it...?
This is probably hardest but get OPUS fileformat support. It would most likely require most extensive modding as no Pioneer/Alphatheta products support it and I would forget even to try it in anything older than 2000NXS and even that might be too old. OPUS is most advanced lossy compression algorithm, e.g. good for recording mixtapes or whole parties as you can get ok sound quality even at 64 kbps.

Controllers Pioneer DDJ-RZX running CDJ-2000NXS 2 firmware on 4 decks
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone!
So, a bit of backstory.
Several years ago, I bought a Pioneer DDJ-RZX when it first came out. And honestly, it was a complete mess.
Random freezes, audio cutting out, screens suddenly becoming unresponsive, and sometimes the entire controller just locking up in the middle of a set. You name it.
At first, I thought I had a defective unit, so after a few months of dealing with all that nonsense, I ended up selling it.
A few years later, I decided to give the DDJ-RZX another chance. I figured Pioneer must have fixed those issues by then, right?
Well... nope. Absolutely nothing had changed.
Same bugs, same random screen issues, same frustrating experience. And this was happening on both a fully specced MacBook Pro and a high-end Razer Blade, so hardware performance definitely wasn't the issue.
I even tried running beta firmware, hoping it would improve things. It didn't.
Eventually, the controller ended up sitting around collecting dust because I simply couldn't trust it during a live set.
A few weeks ago, I got tired of looking at this massive, expensive paperweight and decided to do something about it.
I started rebuilding the DDJ-RZX software from scratch, with the goal of porting the CDJ-2000NXS2 firmware to it.
After several weeks of working on it during my free time, I'm finally ready to show you my first working proof of concept!
There's still quite a bit of work to do on the display side, including some UI elements and visual glitches, but you can already get a pretty good idea of where this is going.
Also, a quick note about the middle screen: since CDJs don't have a second display and no DJM mixer has a screen like the DDJ-RZX, I had to improvise a custom waveform display pretty much from scratch. So yeah, it's still a bit rough around the edges, but that's expected at this stage!
And here's the best part:
I've also managed to fix the original stability issues.
No more random freezes, no more audio dropouts, no more screens becoming unresponsive mid-set.
It's also working with the latest version of Rekordbox, including screen integration.
The only feature that isn't working at the moment is DJ Link. Honestly, I'm not particularly interested in implementing it right now, since the DDJ-RZX already gives you what is essentially a complete four-deck setup with a DJM-style mixer built into a single unit.
Now, here's where I think things could get really interesting.
The DDJ-RZX was actually developed around the CDJ-2000NXS2 design, and physically, it already shares a lot of the same concepts: the jog wheels, controls, displays, and overall layout. Obviously, the internal hardware and architecture are different, but from a physical interface perspective, most of what you'd want from a NXS2-style setup is already there.
And considering how cheap used DDJ-RZX units have become compared to buying multiple CDJs and a DJM mixer, this could potentially turn into a pretty interesting budget-friendly alternative.
Think about it: a four-deck, CDJ-2000NXS2-inspired setup with a DJM-style mixer, all in one unit, for a fraction of the price.
Of course, I'm not claiming it's suddenly equivalent to four standalone CDJs. There are hardware differences and limitations, and there's still work to be done.
But considering that Pioneer originally based the RZX on the NXS2 design, I honestly think there's a lot of untapped potential in this controller.
Maybe this could become a new way of giving these old RZX units a second life instead of leaving them to collect dust.
So yeah, that's where things stand!
This is still an early proof of concept, but I wanted to share the progress with you guys, especially anyone who owned an RZX and went through the same nightmare.
Let me know what you think!

Best Buy/Advice CDJ-2000NXS in 2026?
What’s up everyone!
I spotted a pair of original CDJ-2000NXS at a local music shop priced at $1,200.
At $600 per deck, is $1,200 total a good deal for the NXS in 2026? Or would I be much better off skipping them, saving up a bit more, and picking up an RX3 instead?
For context, I mostly want a solid gear setup to practice on club style hardware layout without relying entirely on a laptop screen.
Appreciate any thoughts or advice from anyone who has used both!
