So since I lost my beloved boy, Toulouse, at the end of August, I've had an influx of activity in the house. Some of it is only heard by me, and some of it my partner has also heard/witnessed. On this occasion, it was just me. It happened a few weeks ago but I cant stop thinking about it.
I was downstairs in the bathroom getting ready to take a shower. Probably about 11pm. I was scrolling on my phone for a few minutes when I suddenly heard what sounded like my partner come downstairs and into the kitchen which is the room next to me. I could see into part of the kitchen from where I was standing but not the whole room. I heard very clear bare feet walking across the wood kitchen floor. I even heard the feet "unsticking" as they left the ground if that makes sense. They seemed to wander around aimlessly with no set route, and this went on for probably about 4 or 5 seconds. It was almost as if they were just circling the centre of the kitchen. All of a sudden, they stop. But what's weird is I didnt hear them leave at any point, so me assuming it was my partner, I wondered why she came to a complete standstill in the middle of the kitchen.
To my surprise, I eventually went through about 10 seconds after, only to find there was no one in the kitchen at all. I went to the bottom of the stairs and shouted up at my partner to ask if she had just been downstairs. I was shaken when she said that she wasn't and hadnt been downstairs for the last hour. Its just me, my partner, and my cat in the house, and they definitely were not sounds from my cat. It prompted me to check the doors were locked in case we had a break in, but all was fine.
I didnt get any bad vibes from the footsteps at all, I actually really believed my partner was just walking around the kitchen and I was so caught off guard to find no one there when i eventually checked them out. I am 32 years old and have never had any experiences like this before (apart from one or two random ones). They only just started to happen after my boy passed away. I have also experienced random clairaudience since then too, with one of the most memorable being someone whispering "good" into my ear as I closed my eyes and meditated. Another time, I heard a voice talking inside my mind but it was almost static-like, as if a car radio had picked up another station. I must admit this one was foggy and I dont remember what it said. Both times ive heard voices, it has distinctly been a male voice.
Another memorable event was about 2 weeks after my boy passed. We were lying in bed watching TV for a bit before we planned on sleeping for the night. My girlfriend asked if she could borrow my torch on my phone by saying "could you shine your light please?". As soon as she said this, the TV froze and turned off completely. As I was trying to put this back on, the landing light right outside our bedroom switched on by itself. We both saw this and I was so pleased that finally someone else had finally witnessed what I'd been experiencing since our loss.
Is this common after a significant loss? Has anyone else had a similar experience? At times, I feel like im going crazy. Then other times I can clearly say to myself "nope, I know what I heard and I didn't make that up in my head". If this only happened when I was really thinking about it, I could believe it being my grief stricken brain conjuring up things. But these catch me completely off guard every time.
