Regional words/dialect

Inspired by a similar discussion about the jute enthusiasts down the river, what are words/phrases which you only hear in Perth/Perthshire?

Couple of examples:

Moich - Meaning crazy/outrageous

Used in Perth but particularly in country towns like Blair and Coupar Angus

E.g. "Some boy got lifted at the Wellmeadow for trying to suplex folk. Looked absolutely moich like."

Doss - Meaning really good

E.g. "Went for a curry in town after the football. It was doss."

Barrie - meaning something is good

Ged - meaning “man” used in sentences such as “awrite ged” “that’s pure barrie ged”

Jamp - instead of jumped “I jamp over the wall”

All used in the Blairgowrie/Coupar Angus area but maybe elsewhere too?

I've heard barrie used in Kirkcaldy quite a few times in the same context and believe it was a thing in Edinburgh too. Sure I read ages back that it was something used in travellers dialect so that maybe explains it showing up in different places.

I think of Barrie as an Edinburgh word anyway.

You don't really hear barrie and ged outside the Blair/Alyth/Coupar Angus triangle

Few mentioned above from a Scottish cant. Couple I'd forgotten about.

Dreel - was heard at the raspberries for a row of raspberry bushes "get back doon that dreel till aw those berries get picked"

Having lived in Perth my whole life, Doss was word meaning we used growing up in the 90s but definitely not only used in Perth

However my wife who I imported from the Highlands Says had never heard the words

Giud meaning good Or Min meaning meaning man

Until she moved to perth

Doss isn't specific to Perthshire.

It can have other meanings in different parts of the country.

In fairness, I've also heard it used in the same context in bits of Angus.

Doss is used all the time in Dundee. Id imagine a fair few Blair words come from traveller cant. Never heard Ged outside Strathmore and geddie is a young lad in cant.

Yeh from the area (couple angus), and over the years have looked into source of these words and nearly all were from traveller cant.

Would be I tested to find out why these words hung, and used all the time when I was there, around in that area but less so elsewhere.
