The building in the center back is the main building, likely with the offices and dorms. Building on the right is the garage; Two rooms in the front are for the base sentry, red strip on the left is obstacle course for training. Blurred part is the Xingren detention center/jail, not part of the barracks but guarded by it's troops.

According to a 2020 news report the "company" has a mere 35 troops. from pic one, there are 32 soldiers and commanders, which sort of confirms this(likely some troops are on sentry duty at the detention center).

PAP County companies can range from between 20-100 people. (It's technically company level and has a captain/1st Lt in charge); Their jobs are to act as sort of a county garrison in wartime, responding to disasters/violent events in the county along with guarding the local detention center/jail.

In April 1955, after the Lüda area(dalian) was returned to China, the PLANCDF Railway gun regiment was established using railway guns the Soviet navy had left in China; the regiment had 4 companies(171st, 172nd, 173rd and 174th) with 4 130mm B-13 guns per company; It was subordinate to the PLAN Lüshun base(north sea fleet) and stationed in Dalian. In May 19, 1955, it was officially named the 21st Railway gun regiment.

In 1958 the regiment was transferred to Xiamen to participate in the Second taiwan straight crisis between 1958 and 1959; In March 15, 1960, the PLAN transferred the 21st regiment to the East sea fleet and converted it into a fixed gun unit known as the 39th independent coastal gun battalion with three companies(172nd company disbanded) under the PLAN Fujian base and later Xiamen maritime garrison command.

In June 20, 1960, the 173rd Company was transferred to the newly established 45th independent coastal artillery battalion.

In February 22, 1961, the original 21st regiment's trains were transferred to the Ministry of Railways Shenyang railway bureau.

In November 1966, the PLAN ordered the following changes:

1. 39th Independent coastal gun battalion to be renamed to the 7th Independent Coastal gun battalion, 171st company to the 1st Company
2. 45th independent coastal artillery battalion to be disbanded, 173rd company renamed and reorganized into the 2nd coastal artiliery company, Songhu maritime garrison command(now shanghai maritime garrison command)
3. 174th company, 39th Independent coastal gun battalion renamed and reorganized into 1st Coastal artiliery company, Changtu maritime garrison command.

In the 1990s, most of these units were disbanded and replaced by Anti-ship missile units.

3 year old clip I dug up, pretty cool, from the full documentary this is supposed to be in case of an ambush scenario. (also this isn't the full drill, SSG2 Yao assembles the type 81-1 as part of the drill).

Pretty crazy that the 81-1 is still in use in 2023, though military drivers are traditionally more of a rear line unit.

Note: the term "Riot control Armor battalion(防暴装甲车大队)" is misleading, as the term 防暴 typically means "riot control" but can also mean "stopping violence", a vague term which can refer to anything from dealing with a dude with a knife all the way to terrorists with IEDs, grenades and AKs. In this case the WJ-03B is a internal security vehicle variant of the WZ-551 family responsible for stuff like counterinsurgency.

Mobile detachments of the two mobile corps each operate a RCA battalion, while mobile detachments of provincial corps each have a RCA Company under the combat support battalion.

It has a machine gun and 6 firing ports(3 on both sides); TIL the machine gun is loaded from outside the vehicle.

Kinda funny that back in the day standard infnatry mostly only had spears(or maybe 戟/Ji(chinese halberd)), and these polearms were more of for elite units or generals, but now Yanyuedao/guandao and wolf tooth mace/langyabang are very common among border defense soldiers.

the numbers of it's class are in single digits; another one of it's class is PLAGFS LT434, which appeared in a photo this year(on the source, pic 3, far right).

The PLANS Lüshun(旅顺, 544, Ex-PLANS Siping(四平)) has the nickname "first anti-submarine frigate"(not literally first, but first as in best), which it got(according to pic 10) as it once tracked a foreign submarine for 65 hours and expelled it. (unknown date, unknown country)

The frigate PLANS Lüshun(旅顺) was a missile frigate developed in the mid 1980s, made by modifying the 5th type 053H1 frigate by introducing many new technologies along with having a helipad and hanger to become the Chinese navy's first helicopter carrying frigate.

PLANS Lüshun(旅顺) was laid down November 15, 1984, launched September 29, 1985 and commissioned December 24, 1985, serving with the north sea fleet; She was retired from frontline service in August 2006 and became a training ship with the dalian naval academy. She has 7 decks, a length of 103.2 meters, breadth of 10.8 meters, draft of 3.19 meters, standard displacement of 1674 tonnes and 1924 tonnes when full. She was a vanguard of naval technology, and initially named PLANS Siping(四平, 544), the first warship named after a county level city(not including ships under 600 tonnes, who technically aren't ships; also back then siping was county level unlike now); she was renamed to PLANS Lüshun(旅顺) in july 2010.

In 2020 the PLAN donated her to Xingguo county for political education for local civil employees, school visits, "double support" work(aka military-civilian PR), militia and reservist work, and large events and holidays. (basically it's now a museum ship)

Note 1: for the riot control patrol vehicle battalion(防暴巡逻车大队), the name is rather misleading; The term 防暴, most commonly used to refer to riot control, can also mean "anti-violence"(especially in this case); this is a very vague term which can range from preventing knife attacks all the way to countering insurgents with IEDs and AKs.

In this case the RCPV battalion, 3rd Mobile detachment uses Yema(野马)/wild horse APCs(photo); these are bulletproof APCs used for internal security and patrol; they also have firing ports.

FYI this(link) is the "rattlesnake" pepper spray(officially "tear gas sprayer"); seen quite a lot of civilian police(especially auxiliary police who in some places don't have guns), baliffs, corrections etc, but not very often seen with the PAP.

Now, for the most intresting part, the patches:

After some digging, i found two other posts where they also appeared(post 1, Gaokao security)(post 2, CNY patrols), both of the XJ Corps 3rd mobile detachment in security missions this year; COuld be a 3rd MD, XJC specific thing.

The patches have the same format in all the photos:

• 1st row: **X** (** as in number); so far mostly 23X**, particularly 23X6*(some 23X3*s and 23X1*); i assume this could mean the patrol team, though idk.
• 2nd row: role; so far i've seen the following:
  • 指挥员 - commander; typically sergeant or higher ranking NCOs or lieutenants
  • 小组长 - fireteam leader; typically corporal
  • 组员（ZBS）- member (ZBS) - no idea what ZBS stands for, almost certainly pinyin; S probably means 手, which is at the end of terms for roles(e.g. 排爆手 for EOD technician); seen a lot with pepper spray. I presume maybe they are in charge of using the pepper spray? (idk)
    • EDIT: Possibly Zhèn bào shǒu(镇暴手) or riot control soldier(暴 can also mean violence in general) according to u/Due_promise_7298 ; however 防暴 is used more in this context so it seems weird they would switch to 镇暴
    • EDIT 2: EDIT 2: possibly Zhuā bǔ shǒu(抓捕手) or apprehension soldier according to u/Independent_Overall , also sounds quite likely
  • 组员（GDS）- member (GDS) - I assume GDS means Gōng dàn shǒu(供弹手), aka ammo carrier; i see them a lot with extra magazines.
  • I typically see patrol fireteams with one Cprl/Lt/Sgt + a "ZBS Member" and "GDS member"
• 3rd row: battalion: very straightfoward:
  • 机动二大队 - 2nd mobile battalion, 3rd mobile detachment
  • 机动三大队 - 3rd mobile battalion, 3rd mobile detachment
  • 防暴装甲车大队 - riot control patrol vehicle battalion
