If you lived in the world of *Peaky Blinders*, what would you choose: having the power and respect of Tommy Shelby or living a quiet life without enemies? Why?

Why wouldn’t Ollie just check if there was a grenade?

Couldn’t Ollie have just went and checked if Tommy did indeed place a hand grenade? At which point, he would have seen that there is no grenade and therefore Tommy was bluffing?

Which events, in your view, served as a point of no return for Tommy? Aside from the obvious one, which is the war.

For me, the first event that changed him was Grace’s death.

Then there was the kidnapping of Charlie, and perhaps the time his head was smashed in.

But I think it was taking everyone to the prison that made him realize he no longer had any limits; he was capable of anything.

Then the deaths of Polly and Ruby.

I believe all these things changed Tommy, they killed off his human side.

What do you think? Which character, in your opinion, was the most toxic and destructive, and caused people to die—either directly or indirectly?

So, judging by the show's official account, that is how they portray women in their post:

Grace: true love.

May: the other woman.

Lizzie: the lady of the manor.

Tatiana: a dangerous liaison.

Officially, that is what each one represents.

(S6 Spoiler) I hate what they did to Finn in the last season Spoiler

It seems so out of character for Finn to try to pull the trigger on Isiah and Duke just because of Billy. At the very least I think it would make more sense for Finn to just refuse to shoot. But turning the gun on two Peaky Blinders and one being Tommys son?? Just feels like bad writing to me

The walk that broke the internet! Guy is a legit 10/10.

From Tommy Shelby's iconic walk to the cold on screen presence - Cillian Murphy has time and again proved why he is the perfect casting for the role. Short pauses before the most unprecedented deliveries, fearless encounters and the sharpest moves made this somewhat villainous role so famous that people ended up loving him anyway!

What do you think about Tommy's character development? Do you think he experiences character development or regression? What are your thoughts on Tommy's development or change, or did he get worse for you ?

Bruh I don't get it. Why are so many idolising Tommy and the Shelby fam? They don't get the story, right?

It's kind of obvious, that Tommy and the Shelby family are bad guys. They are murderous, violent gangsters. Ofc the story shines a light on the weak and humane side of Tommy to have some angle we can root for him, as he is the protagonist of the show. And yeah, Killian Murphy's acting is peak and he is for some people good looking. But the character he displays is a disgusting, cold hearted murderer. I wouldn't shake his hand, because he's got blood on it and he knows it. He doesn't care. That's not badass, that's just ass... and more of the shit part of the ass aswell. And yes a lot of people here, me included, fans of the show, because it's a very well written story and the cinematography and the acting is peak performance. But then there are way too many who think they'd love TO BE Tommy or in his skin (not gay at all lol), or want to be just like him. No you don't want that kind of stress, never knowing if you get shot randomly, you don't want his cancerous lungs or his ptsd from war. He is a broken man and definitely not a role model. Why do so many even fetishis him and his behaviour??

End ain’t worth it

I watched the movie of peaky blinders and got very disappointed. I read your review of the movie and I agree either way that bubble that says „The movie is a bad one.“.
I expected more action and not only drama of Thommys messi head also his battles inside his head.
The death of Aida wasn’t also so spectacular that she deserved to die. I really love Peaky Blinders but that end ain’t worth for a very hyped show. Overall I think I would give that movie a 2.5-4/10.

The idea that Tommy never found peace or happiness is a narrative that Tommy himself refutes in the series.

Tommy did experience peace and happiness for a brief period of his life, and that is his tragedy. It wasn't that he was never able to feel it; rather, he *did* feel it, but the life he so hated, and wanted to escape, stripped that happiness and peace away from him when Grace died.

Before Grace, he used to hear the sound of shovels against the wall; she was the only one who silenced his trauma. When he was with her, he could sleep without needing drugs. We saw his vulnerable and soft side with her. He laughed, and he wanted to change for the better and have a better life for himself and his family.

The change he underwent after her death is profound and undeniable. The hallucinations returned, even more intense than before, and he no longer wanted silence in his mind, because he had to live with his own demons. He became addicted to alcohol, opiates, sex, and power, to anything that might, for a moment, fill the void she left behind, but by Season 5, nothing worked anymore.

All his relationships were transactional; he had no emotional connection with anyone. He was colder and more calculating than before, even quite cruel, and he no longer showed his softer side or vulnerability to anyone, because that part of him had died when she died.

In Season 3, at their wedding, Tommy toasts to "Peace", and in Season 4, during the family meeting, everyone toasts to peace, and Tommy is the only one who refuses to drink. Why? Because toasting to peace without Grace felt like a mockery.

Steven Knight did not write a man incapable of feeling love or happiness; rather, he wrote a man who found absolute happiness in one specific woman, only to have life tear it away from him.

To say that Tommy was never happy completely negates the beautiful, tragic depth of his character. Grace was no mere fleeting fancy; with her, Thomas Shelby felt secure in his own mind for the only time in his life. And, as we see right up to the final film, he spent the rest of his days haunted by the ghost of the only peace he ever knew.

That is why he feels that: "Once i nearly got fucking everything"

FREDDIE THORNE?

If the actor had chosen to stay on for S2, I wonder how FREDDIE THORNE would've progressed as a character.

He was never a favourite of mine, but He's integral to S1 and I do think it would've been interesting to not only see his relationship with Ada develop, but also see how Tommy's best mate would've gone along or not have gone along with Tommy's schemes and future business.

Looking at how heavy the politics was in the later seasons, it's fair to say there were many interesting possibilities for that character.

I do think the actor stepping out was a blessing in disguise. SERIES 2 is nearly perfect. Ada's questioning of her own identity and her journey throughout the show is overall pretty great, and I think propelled by losing her husband so early.

This series was plagued by bad luck

It could have been so much better, but there were so many changes done for example:

-The actor for Fredie Thorne leaving and having to be killed off

-The actor for John leaving and having to be killed of

-Pollie's actress dying irl

-Arthur's actor not being able to appear in The Imortal Man

I'd say the original series was amazing but it could have been so much better
