The episode should be visible for everyone now. HBO Max seems to have gotten a bit of a hug of death.

The Peace Filter is enabled. All submissions will temporarily be sent for mod approval to avoid spoilers.

Enjoy the finale.

“His face got eaten off by nightmare shit.” If that’s not the best description of that lol

Were those the imps that jerked off in Auggie’s Cheeriohs?

211

u/KingDice66 Oct 10 '25 edited Oct 10 '25

Definitely lol remember that one humping flurry’s face lol Auggie also said young Chris was trying to grab a giant peppermint stick from that dimension and giant peppermint sticks are all over the place they went to.

I like that Judomaster is wearing his suit under his Hazmat suit

687

I love how he never takes the suit off, and i hope we never see him do

243

Nhut is adorable but yes, I want him to be a never nude and refuse to take off his suit

“Pull Titties! Pull!”

666

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '25

During the final scene I straight up said out loud “Titties you’re better than this!”

Not me thinking they slept together this whole time

1.3k

u/HulklingWho Oct 10 '25

I loved that it turned out to just be them having a beautiful moment. No wonder she freaked out, nothing scarier than genuine connection for her.

94

u/Laizerdisc Oct 11 '25

Plus it really hammers home how much of a sweetheart romantic Chris is. The fact that he was agonizing over that moment so much only happened because just kissing Harcourt meant the WORLD to. It's a drastic switch from his "we could hook up, no emotions involved" pitch from S1 E1.

32

u/QueenSparkleGlitter Oct 11 '25

Man my heart truly truly melted watching Chris do a little dance when he found out that the kiss meant “everything” to Emilia. What a romantic softie. Glad I got to see 5 seconds of happy Chris concert time before they pushed him into purgatory.

Yeah great character work there. It wasn’t just drunken lust, it was a genuine romantic moment, something Harcourt has evolved to show

I think it was implied on purpose for the reveal to be a kiss which makes it that much sweeter

464

u/RegulationRaptorsFan Oct 10 '25

Too bad we didn't get any resolution to the Chris doesn't appreciate Adrian subplot... He didn't even look at Adrian in the hotel room when it panned to each character lol

Just feels sad now

Well, yeah, but his standards are so fucking borked I kinda want to know what made him hate his mom so much in particular. I mean, he was pretty polite to the people he was planning on murdering at the end of Season 1, iirc.

160

lol he def doesn't hate his mom. He just has that bratty/spoiled persona some folks get from a sweet and loving parent.

Is it spoken about how Rick Sr has completely lost any good will he gained from Creature Commandos? Fuck this guy

1.1k

u/Robin0928 Oct 10 '25

Genuinely, James Gunn, what the fuck are you talking about "Rick Sr. isn't a bad guy"? Dude went from "flawed anti-hero" to "genuine supervillain" in one season of TV

742

u/injulen Oct 10 '25

More like one episode.. I kept thinking he wasn't himself this whole finale. Especially when Harcourt did the bit about Sir/Rick and he seemed not to know what she meant.

481

u/LeonSnakeKennedy Oct 10 '25

That’s because he does the Sir/Rick thing as manipulation. He did it to her when she had something he wanted, similar with Sacha. Now that she wasn’t as important he wasn’t thinking about it

I think they’re setting up for Man of Tomorrow that Lex has found someway to somewhat take control of Flagg or is severely manipulating him

Edit: even thinking back, it was weird that Flagg’s immediate response to questioning on executing Lex’s plans was to compliment how smart Lex is. He acted like he was a wackjob in Superman

I'm not 100 percent sure , but is Luthor manipulating Rick Sr? For example, the odd hand gestures by Lex in their negotiation. Then he not only gets the portal guy, but also employs Lex's team of tech fascist simps. All said and done he completes Lex's plan and suggests Lex is too valuable to not use.

I think this will leed to a presidential pardon and Lex's freedom, wherein he will be called in to help with Brainiac. Brainiac is already on Earth.

Creature Commandos made him seem like an incompetent but well-intentioned leader.

I understood his resentment for Chris but this whole episode made him feel like a completely different character.

I paused halfway through and honestly thought either Luthor was literally mind-controlling him or a butterfly got to him and was looking for a new home

389

u/SuburbanLegend Oct 10 '25

Same, and then when she turns on Flag and goes to Harcourt and then recruits Adebayo... I thought they were forming a plan to stop Flag or something. But no, they decided to start living their out-of-nowhere business dreams?

309

u/OutsideAwareness1116 Oct 10 '25

It absolutely seemed like they were getting everyone together and coming up with a plan to stop ARGUS and then it was just them starting a business. This whole episode, and honestly the season, has had me scratching my head.

95

u/XxsalsasharkxX Oct 10 '25

Dollars to donuts it's probably not the worst thing he's done.

196

u/ProcedureCharming831 Oct 10 '25

Oh definitely not, but I also just feel like despite a whole season of events, Flag himself did very little to actually earn that ending, so the more I'm sitting on it the more annoyed I'm getting. I fucking adore this show but that just felt like such a frustrating end to an otherwise 10/10 experience.

The real drag is knowing Season 3 isn’t guaranteed & the ending more so acting as set up the DCU.

Not to say I didn’t like it. Loved the establishment of Checkmate! But it’s like ending the episode with a sign that says ”Check Back in 3 Years”.

125

u/IForkingKnewIt Oct 10 '25

I felt like Gunn's saying there wouldn't be a season 3 of Peacemaker and it'll make sense at the end of the season implies that Peacemaker as a show is over because now it's now Checkmate. Like I fully expect a Checkmate series or movie announcement to continue telling stories with this cast

44

u/Lepelotonfromager Oct 10 '25

That makes sense though, Peacemaker's character transformation is complete. He is redeemed and he has let go of his demons by embracing his friends, or at least found the path going forward. The ensemble has grown enough that he wants to have a title that reflects the whole cast and organisation going forward.

yeah i got that impression last episode. Episode 7 really felt like a finale to the whole Earth X arc, with Keith being teased as a potential returning villain.

this episode felt like it was setting up what is the overarching story of the DCU, while also bringing closure to Chris's arc. (I notice he never wore the Peacemaker uniform once)

317

u/CrashRiot Oct 10 '25

He did wear it once in episode one until after he got rejected by the Justice Gang. After that he only wore Earth X uniform and not “his” uniform.

149

Cliffhanger when the next season probably won't come out for another 3 years sucks. Besides that it was fun.

98

That’s how I felt. Really loved the episode and can understand a cliffhanger, but seriously? If we don’t get Checkmate before Man of Tomorrow that means over 2 years of Chris being completely alone and fucking miserable, it just feels shitty.

Did this episode feel… off to anyone else?

130

u/Saltpataydahs Oct 10 '25

yeah, for instance, the fade to black was odd and a lot more needle drops than usual

White Collar Criminals getting away with everything and cozying up to government officials while the underlines are grinded down into dust all for the purpose of imprisoning "others"

James Gunn gonna have to do overtime on Threads to not get fired when the chuds see this, God I love him.

u/OLKv3 Oct 10 '25

Hey hey HEY! He wrote this plot at the creation of Earth, before all this stuff happened in the real world. Total coincidence pal.

Wait, is Ads going to be the one to make Checkmate?

270

u/Numbuh24insane Oct 10 '25

She did, she did make Checkmate.

Ads is the good version of Waller. She can emotionally manipulate for hood like convincing Adrian to use the blood money for good. I suspect Waller is going to worm her way back into Ads life.

I'm soo proud of Adebayo for being an adult in her relationship and letting her wife go. Sometimes the right decision is painful and not a happy ending. I love Adebayo.

Rick, there are like 5 different ways people in the DC Universe can hop dimensions. No way this prison plan survives a year

The episode isn't bad and looks to the future, but as an episode, I MUCH prefer episodes 6 and 7.

Too much hype...

a little too much screen time of the bands performing on the boat

Two whole songs played in their entirety was definitely a choice.

this episode kind of rushes Chris’ development and is mostly setting up the future rather than ending this series.

Oh. OH. Ohhhhhhhhh.

I see we're maybe adapting THAT storyline, are we?

Oh dear.

which one

Salvation Run: In the comics, the American Government decided to dump all super villains on a planet and call it a day.

Factions are made, ultimately ending with Team Lex Luthor fighting Team Joker, but it gets interrupted by I believe Brainiac robots attacking the planet to absorb its data?

u/Surfacing710 Oct 10 '25

Alien robots invade a planet to get its data? There’s only one man for the job, Ice Cube.

Salvation Run. Prison planet for supervillains that turns out to be one giant death trap with monsters. Man of Tomorrow could very well end up being Superman and Lex having to team up to survive a trip there.

Wish we actually got to see the scene of Judo Master and Fluery joining the agency instead of the showing up and us having to assume how it happened.

69

u/DrD__ Oct 10 '25

I think it makes sense, judo master pretty much already joined the 11th street kids after all that happened on earth x and chilling with ads

They probably didnt feel the need to have a scene with fluery since his reasoning is almost exactly the same as Bordeaux, he has even more of a connection with the people that died than she did and already showed his morality when backing up Ginger cool about stopping flag from beating on Chris
