DISCUSSION He did nothing wrong Spoiler

Vigilante did absolutely nothing wrong. 1. He was told he was in a nazi world. 2. Keith literally led A Charge to kill Adebayo 3. Auggie stabbed and tied up Economos, 4. Let's be real the only reason they let Vigilante come was for him to fight for and protect those two

Yeah working with the info he had, it was totally justified. Just a sad and fucked up situation.

424

u/Cheeseyellow12 Oct 03 '25

it’s completely unfortunate given he did seem like a good guy at heart in a fucked up world who raised his boys somewhat normally but when having a opportunity to save your friends. should probably take it without a second

249

u/MariachiDan Oct 03 '25

I disagree he was a good guy. White compliance aids white supremacy. Its not "there's nazis and there's nothing i can do about it" its "they keep all the minorities in labor camps and I dont consider doing something about it."

u/kpba32 Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

I've seen this said elsewhere. Blue Dragon was a good cop but a cop none the less. He fought monsters and other "villains" but he didn't do anything about the system itself.

92

u/Shredneckjs Oct 03 '25

This is a super solid analogy.

73

u/trainwrecktragedy Oct 03 '25

Its easy to say this as an outsider; also you're forgetting if he made noise, overman would've likely been on him instantly

43

u/Creamcups Oct 03 '25

We don't know if there's an overman. We do know there is a resistance group that he's not a part of and his son is actively fighting against.

21

u/trainwrecktragedy Oct 03 '25

I think if we have a superman, earth X would have an overman. Would be surprised if we dont see this teased in the season finale or something

22

u/Creamcups Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Overman wasn't there to fight the kaiju. Also, Earth X isn't canon. That's the Nazi earth in the comics but Gunn has only ever called Peacemaker's alternate earth Earth 2.

30

u/trainwrecktragedy Oct 03 '25

He started calling it earth X on socials after ep6 i guess to avoid spoiling

6

u/Creamcups Oct 03 '25

Oh, hadn't seen that

14

u/Luna-Fermosa Oct 03 '25

Well, of course he wasn’t calling it Earth X. Why would he? It would have entirely ruined the twist at the end of episode 6.

Yes, but we also saw the world through Chris' eyes and we find at the beginning of e7 that he's an unreliable narrator. He missed the Hitler mural so we didn't get to see it. What else did we not see? Is he just so laser-focused on the Top Trio that we never see anything/anyone else?

I could see an Overman-level threat being referenced and what closes out e8 and causes ARGUS to permanently close/destroy they portal device or the QUC itself to prevent an invasion/incursion. But honestly it feels like Gunn is playing this pretty straight and we won't see a big complication thrown in for e8. But I didn't predict the cow from S1 either so I expect a wild ride!

3

u/playing_ketchup Oct 03 '25

I think if anyone is gonna come through the portal its either gonna be keith and hes gonna be a villain in the main universe (or get sent back) or Rick flag Jr.

10

u/itinerantmarshmallow Oct 03 '25

Superman didn't fight a big fuck off monster in his movie either, so there's precedence for leaving things to other "heroes".

I still think that's not Eart-X but a variant of Earth-X. Like Earth X-b.

I'm thinking pre-new 52 with infinite multiverse.

Any noise like gunning down half a police force?

31

By noise i clearly meant making his real thoughts known. The episode made it clear the police had no idea it was triumph and dragon who killed all those cops

I think if the top trio truly are the only heroes then blue dragon should have done more but if Overman exists I don’t know what temu iron man is supposed to do 😬

3

u/windmillninja F#CK! It’s PEACEMAKER! 😱🤯 Oct 03 '25

I might be butchering the saying, but if there are 9 bad cops and 1 good cop sitting at a table, there are 10 bad cops sitting at a table.

3

u/kpba32 Oct 04 '25

I believe the orignal saying had the word Nazi instead of cops but you did good

14

u/ActualModerateHusker Oct 03 '25

Look at the superman movie. Peacemaker couldn't care less about fighting for some Palestinians or whatever. Vigilante isnt gonna kill his best friend just because he sides with the US government most of the time.

Heck look at The Suicide Squad or even season 1. The butterflys could have turned the earth into a utopia.

Sure Earth X is an extreme example but it would make no sense to take out someone who at least some of the time does take out nazis while trying to protect vulnerable citizens

10

u/SidewaysFancyPrance Oct 03 '25

The butterflys could have turned the earth into a utopia.

I disagree, they were going to eventually enslave us. They killed/enslaved like a hundred cops and inmates for quick labor without a second of hesitation. The conflict was inevitable and we would have lost if they had been given more time. They did not value human life except as tools.

4

u/ActualModerateHusker Oct 03 '25

They claimed to not have the food source to last more than a hundred years. There isnt really any reason to doubt their claims.

The blue dragon takes out a bunch of cops as well. And some of them are just doing their jobs. And for what? Maybe he recognized if the government finds the portal there will be far greater consequences.

Much like the butterflies, a species capable of interstellar travel, likely far more intelligent than us, could have prevented serious consequences.

Today I read about how the ocean is reaching dangerous levels of acidification. Yet you've got half of our species in this country who thinks climate change is a hoax. If a smarter species wants to try and fix things what do we have to lose?

There is a difference between a liberal democracy world with white supremacy elements and a straight up Fascistic world with nazis controlling world superpowers(since they won WWII, it's likely Soviet is Nazified as well.)

Hell, IRL people are getting disappeared left and right, be them wealthy and poor if they are living in more authoritarian countries, Auggie's world is that except there won't even be foreign media pressure.

It's like you folks have no understanding of the scales, it's like looking at "abolish slavery at the height of Roman Empire" vs "abolish slavery when the south is getting mauled by General Sherman" and judge a random somewhat upperclass citizen by the same standards. Why is rich Roman Merchant not funding his private military and pull a Spartacus 2.0 like Union Solider boy there?

And like Blue Dragon indirectly says, main universe heroes kinda aren't pushing for societal change either, even though that may actually be easier for them compared to "trying to overthrown a global nazi regime while being a mid-to-low tier hero."

28

u/SebastianPointdexter Oct 03 '25

Everybody puts more responsibility on others than they would take on themselves. I'm thinking if I were to turn the clock back sixty years or so I wonder how many of y'all would have marched with my relatives in the deep south that got hit with fire hoses, gas, and attacked by dogs. I think most people are content to watch things unfold and shake their heads in disagreement. Very few of us are willing to put everything on the line to change society.

3

u/SimonShepherd Oct 04 '25

Basically a lot of people are morally lucky, it's easy for them to be morally in the right all time so they lose touch with what it's like to actually put in the effort to uphold your moral.

Don't get me wrong, it's healthy for a society overall if doing the right thing is piss easy, but at the same time, it skews people's perception, mistaking the ease society/environment provide for them as some great personal effort. Hence why so many people pat themselves on the back simply for speaking out, in a place with high levels of freedom of speech.

As they say in the episode do you spend all your time fighting injustice in our world, and is our world really so different? He made it clear he was not one of them but couldn’t bring down the system on its own

26

u/invasiveplant Oct 03 '25

The whole point of the episode from my read is that their world says the quiet part out loud, but the similarities are embedded in the system on either end

12

u/Creamcups Oct 03 '25

I agree that our world upholds racist injustices as well, but there's a massive difference between systemic racism and efficiently locking up any undesirable minority in camps to the point where if even one black woman is seen outside the entire town mobilizes.

He wouldn’t be on his own. Sons of liberty and vigilante are there.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

this entity in Earth X likely dominates Europe, Russia and USA at minimum and all the the security infrastructure that entails.  We know that Auggie was not working with them or sharing his advanced tech with them.

Sons of Liberty seemed a ramshackle organisation.

We could dig into this at length but the narrative point of the show seemed pretty clear.

→ More replies (2)

15

u/Emperor_Atlas Oct 03 '25

I disagree, spending your time risking your life fighting aliens that just murder civillians does make you a good person. Not addressing a separate injustice that is seemingly worldwide sentiment is an entirely different battle he is also fighting by trying to raise his kids to be different than the rest of the world.

Like you aren't a bad person because you live your life and do what you can instead of being overseas fighting in the streets for (example) Palestine children, or Ughyr Muslims in China.

Theres a lot of ugly in the world and you arent personally responsible for correcting all of it all the time.

3

u/yuumigod69 Oct 03 '25

The speech basically applies to all of them. It was a tragic situation.

27

u/QuestGalaxy Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

I think he had the potential to be a good person, if he had lived in the non nazi world. He seemed to be more caring about his family and he took strong offense to being called a nazi. He also had no issues fucking over the local non innocent cops to save alt dimension people, hell he didn't even go in for the kill of a person that killed his own son.

Unlike original Earth Auggie he seemed to have empathy for people.

But he still wasn't innocent in any way, but I think seeing that hint of an alternate kind parent was brutal for Chris.

7

u/CertainGrade7937 Oct 03 '25

Honestly, I just don't think we know enough about the world to make a judgment call at this point.

There's no question that the morally best option would be to try to do more. But what capacity does he have to do more? Without knowing what the world looks like, it's hard to say.

If Auggie's options are "stop a few kaiju from leveling cities and killing millions" or "bum rush a government facility and be dead within a day, accomplishing nothing"... I'm not going to morally fault him for picking option A. But if he's choosing to be totally complacent while he's in a position to make significant change, then yeah, that's shitty.

But without getting a better look at the world as it exists (is there any sizable resistance? Is there any actual gameplan beyond "blow shit up and hope for the best"? Is there considerable civil unrest or are most of the population totally cool with it?), i just don't think we can know.

14

u/LeastInsaneKobold Oct 03 '25

Consequences of always using permanent solutions. You'll eventually end up doing something you can't undo.

2

u/sonheungwin Oct 03 '25

It gives you pleasure too, Peacemaker, that's cause we are born killers! What separates us from the other killers, is we only kill bad people. Usually... Unless there's a mistake!

He's much more self aware than we're giving him credit for. The reason Vigilante shouldn't be glorified (even as he is my favorite character) is because he's willing to risk innocent collateral damage because he believes the ends are worth any means.

58

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Nazis get the nazi solution idk why youre all stunned here.

*I am vigilante

30

u/Dpepps Oct 03 '25

Not stunned. We all get it. It just sucks because alt Auggie wasn't a Nazi.

6

u/ObviousAnswerGuy Oct 03 '25

I mean, he even admitted himself he did very bad things. He literally killed a bunch of cops right before that (he said they were "bad" , but still, I doubt this dude is some freedom fighting angel. Like he literally works for the Nazi's. We have to assume he probably also killed a bunch of Sons of Liberty people)

10

u/WuffieRose Oct 03 '25

When Chris iced a cell of them single handed (with Keith killing their helicopter crew) they celebrated, he didn't believe in the Nazis but he definitely killed revolutionaries for them

45

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

He absolutely was he stayed complicit in their system and failed to join any revolutionary opposition. He can be upset all he wants but his actions are what matter. Which brings me no pleasure to say because I really liked the 180° from S1.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

I watched a documentary about the holocaust not too long ago that basically stated that there were 3 groups during it.

1.) the people who agreed and became Nazis immediately

2.) the people the Nazis oppressed and exterminated

3.) those who didn’t agree but tried to self preserve, but eventually had to become Nazis or become a part of group 2.

Alt-Auggie may have seen himself in a better light but he was complicit in the world “he didn’t like”

→ More replies (9)

50

u/Dpepps Oct 03 '25

Yeah I guess I should clarify. Doesn't agree with their philosophy or actions but goes along with it out of self preservation and to make life easier for his kids. If you want to call him a Nazi for working with them at all and saving them, fair enough not something I'd argue. I'd just say it's a lot more nuanced than simply "he's just a nazi" or something along those lines.

26

u/heartshapedhoops Oct 03 '25

if you’d like to go there, in real life when the nuremberg trials were held, nazi enablers were also taken to trial, and he’d absolutely be considered an active enabler. the nuance doesn’t take away from his personal responsibility; he uncritically enjoys living in a house/neighborhood built by slaves, actively fights the only group resisting the nazi regime, is a celebrated public figure for his continued defense of nazi society, and refuses to use his advanced and frankly OP weaponry to fight the nazi regime. there is no difference between him and a nazi

13

u/Jrhrer03 Oct 03 '25

The Nazi enablers taken to trial were also acquitted

2

u/L4HH Oct 04 '25

He wouldn’t be let free considering he kills sons of liberty for the nazis. Nuremberg wouldn’t excuse that because it didn’t excuse Nazi Soldiers. Auggie would run his ass straight to Argentina.

5

u/Belaerim Oct 03 '25

lol, no.

Alt-Augie has super science.

He’d be head of NASA or ARGUS’s tech division quicker than you could say Operation Paperclip.

And Nuremberg absolutely did not get all the enablers. They did token sacrifices to make a point, they didn’t hang every Nazi.

If they had, they wouldn’t have needed the clean Wehrmacht lies

2

u/SimonShepherd Oct 05 '25

I think Alt-Auggie would be glad to be taken to nuremberg trials, at least that means defeating nazi is actually possible and winnable. But in his reality, he will be trialed along with SoL and random PoC instead if he tried to pull what people here want him to do.

He was for sure, but he could possibly have been a good dude if he lived in Peacemakers world. He was a etter person than the Auggie of season 1, just imagine the shit he would do in that nazi world.

19

u/Logic-DL Oct 03 '25

He literally killed a bunch of cops and told them to fuck off when they came knocking.

Also explains in the episode itself he isn't strong enough to take on the entire god damn world lmao. If he were to try and kill every Nazi in the world he'd get killed long before that happened. It's just a stupid move to even try that.

Like it or not it's a different world. Not everyone is going to be able to go "yea I don't mind giving up my entire life and putting those I love in danger to fight the whole world" especially if you're one of the few that can stop innocents dying to Kaiju attacks etc.

Do you

A. Let countless innocents die to murderers, terrorists, kaiju etc to MAYBE usurp the entire planet.

or

B. Accept the shitty situation and just do your fucking best in the shitty world you live in to make it a little bit less shitty?

14

u/Turbulent_Resident68 Oct 03 '25

I think that’s a very black and white way of looking at it. He says that there’s nothing they can actually do about it. Sure the sons of liberty exist but all we’ve seen them do is try to blow up a building. He chose to raise his children and try to teach them right, which didn’t work clearly. If he was like superman, sure he could do it. But he’s just a guy with gadgets.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Thats the point "I cant do nothing" despite being a "superhero" with a revolutionary group outside his doorstep.

He doesnt want to upset his comfortable life to help stop nazis and concentration camps. Hence "one got out" got out from where exactly?

Thats the point of this season. To reflect on what you view as black and white and not involve it in basic morality when basic morality can be implemented with simple local action.

James Gunn seems to love having Peacemaker and the team kill the wrong people between the Suicide Squad Rick Flagg “rescue”, Rick Flagg himself (to an extent), Sons of Liberty, and now Auggie.

4

  1. Vigilante is murder happy sociopath who kills people without a second thought.

We all love the character but I am laughing at people trying to justify whether he did the right thing, Vigilante is the most blood thirsty murderer out of all our main characters. He is basically our lovable serial killer.

2

u/FrankReynoldsCPA Oct 03 '25

I think that's the point of the whole show.

Pretty much everybody but Adebayo and Economos are shitty people.

I love Vigilante but indiscriminate murder is wrong. You can’t just go around killing everyone, even if you are in a Nazi dimension. That being said…

Peacemaker wouldn't be in the wrong for that either, in my opinion. The moral goodness of a person's actions isn't dependent on the net universal good that results from those actions, but is instead dependent on the individuals perception (within reason, obviously) of their actions.

Peacemaker believed he was saving innocent civilians from terrorists intent on blowing everything and everyone up. You can't factor in that the "everything and everyone" in this scenario are actually all literal Nazis, because Peacemaker didn't have an inkling that this could even be possible, and it is not irrational or unreasonable for him not to know

But then was Peacemaker inherently wrong to stop the bomb threat without asking the terrorists what their ideologies were? If he had stopped or slowed down in any way the bomb would’ve went off and many people would’ve died, people that aren’t necessarily worth less simply because they aren’t actively and openly fighting the system and were raised in a bad world.

Is jumping in to save lives without checking what either side believes not potentially better than waiting until one side kills the other and then asking questions?

My feelings are even if it was Prime Vigilante and not Earth X Vigilante that shanked Auggie, he was right to do so with everything he knew about the world and what was happening through that window

More over even if Earth X Auggie was a “good person” he was still a member of the “Top Trio” a beloved group of “heroes” in Nazi America so there’s no telling what kind of actions they have taken to be that revered

So yeah, Earth X Auggie may have genuinely loved his sons and might not have been as overtly racist as Prime Auggie but at the very least he was a collaborator to the Nazi form of government and certainly wasn’t helping the Sons of Liberty to overthrow it

103

u/CrashRiot Oct 03 '25

He said in the monologue that he’s not capable of taking down a Nazi regime, so he only went after murderers and tried to do the little bit of good he was capable of doing. I got the vibe from that monologue that he would never do anything so egregious as actually participate in any of the Nazi crimes against humanity. He lived in a fucked up world, so he tried to do what he could to make it just a little bit better.

He was the inverse (I think, I can never get inverse vs opposite right) of Earth 1 Auggie. The same way Nazi Auggie never tried to overtly usurp the government and install a Nazi regime, despite having a superpowered suit of armor, good Auggie never trued to usurp the government and depose a Nazi regime, despite having a superpowered suit of armor

23

u/SolidPrysm Douchey Captain America 🇺🇸 Oct 03 '25

Yeah, I think a lot of characteristics about Earth-X Augie can be inferred by inverting the characteristics of the Earth-1 one, including the political alignment of his sons.

37

u/Logic-DL Oct 03 '25

Also tbf to Earth X Auggie, when the entire planet is Nazi ruled. How the fuck are you supposed to take that on?

The Sons of Liberty are fighting American Nazi's sure, but they're effectively going to war with the ENTIRE planet without even being sure that many the world over will hear about their efforts or sympathise with them. And it's clearly a world where the Top Trio are one of the few groups capable of killing Kaiju and metahuman threats etc. So Auggie X is entirely fair to focus on the threats that'll kill countless innocents over going to war with the entire planet.

11

u/MobileSuitBooty Oct 03 '25

Humans by nature desire to be free. There will always be a resistance. Facism always turns inwards because there must always be a crisis to solving it a new enemy to hate. People will eventually see the contradictions of that society.

My point is his resignation that he can’t do anything to change it still upholds that society and he definitely has more power than the average man not just in arms but he’s a literal hero.

6

u/Lylyo_Nyshae Oct 03 '25

His monologue made it pretty clear imo that he was meant to be a statement about the superheros on regular Earth not using their power for societal change. Like if a regular dude with a suit of power armor is responsible for not fighting a worldwide nazi regime, then what does that say about heros like Superman on regular Earth who would have a much easier time doing things like stopping the war in Gaza?

4

u/Logic-DL Oct 03 '25

Tbf in Superman, Superman does stop Boravia's invasion, and then later the Justice Gang does the same thing.

4

u/Lunchboxninja1 Oct 03 '25

Well that doesnt really work cuz DCU Clark DOES stop the war in Gaza lol. But you're right about it being a good statement generally

No, the Sons of Liberty could actually have used his help. VigilanteX would have known him. He would have lived if he had actually fought back instead of giving up.

6

u/inspector-say10 Oct 03 '25

that’s my point too. like yeah he might’ve been a good-ish guy but his reason for not joining the “resistance” (SOL) could’ve been a fugitive and uncomfortable life so instead he chose to be a hero to fight crime but that doesn’t change the fact that he is a hero to Nazis.

like if i was him i would’ve chosen to be with the SOL rather than hide my true intentions and fight crime to clear my conscience of not actively fighting the Nazi regime.

7

u/Hugs_Niceman Oct 03 '25

He was participating by the sole fact of being an enforcer for that regime.

4

u/3uphoric-Departure Oct 03 '25

I don’t think he was a enforcer of the regime, but he was an enforcer of the status quo. A small but meaningful difference.

A lot of people stand quiet as injustice happens right in front of them everyday in the real world

33

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

This is my take too. And Vij , both versions, is by contrast someone who does go out of his way to fuck with bigots. So I think by killing Auggie after that speech, it was almost like this show was saying its not enough to sit idly by while bad things are happening and not challenge the systems of oppression. Especially considering the amount of money and status AltAuggie had.

I dont think this Auggie was evil or hateful but he certainly wasn't challenging the Nazi status quo.

3

u/TheBossman40k Oct 03 '25

There is certainly nuance to that matter. But I don't think that is what the show was trying to convey. They had heroic music playing as he was making his speech; this is not played for laughs or mockery. And then Chris looks distraught when he is killed saying "I don't think he was a nazi". And that's the end of it. If there was a point to be made about fencesitting we would have gotten some sort of narrative payoff - but all that we saw was a murder and that's it.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

I think it's still sad because Auggie isnt a monster in the alternate world, and Chris realizes that right before he gets killed. They could have had a real father/son relationship. But yeah, that's just my personal take. "Fencesitting" is exactly the word I was missing. I think being not-racist, in private, wasnt enough for Auggie to be doing. That's why he was mistaken for a Nazi by both Vigilantes. And Alt-Vij seems way less trigger-happy than the main one, i.e., he says that doing graffiti and being a Nazi are not the same thing. He even seems shocked that his counterpart would be doing that.

We still have the last episode. It’s a common trope in comics that the villain is good in the alternative universe. We might see Keith going through documents and realise his father’s secret connections to sons of liberty, making him more confused and having memories of him defending PoC privately.

More likely though, he was complicit and was in denial about his contribution (much like all of us when bad things happen and we support it with our apathy). We’re probably done either way with the Nazi world, except Keith. I’m sure he wants revenge.

34

u/AdmirableResearch357 Oct 03 '25

It was pretty clearly laid out in his monologue that Auggie is disgusted by the Nazi shit and sticks to fighting giant monsters and such, but Keith is obviously down with it.

32

u/Oathkindle Oct 03 '25

Yea even in the podcast episode Gunn says Keith is a white supremacist piece of shit super villain lol

8

u/inspector-say10 Oct 03 '25

yeah that explains why Keith looked almost ready to take his own dad out in order to kill/fight Chris. when Auggie was questioning Chris and Harcourt Keith looked like he couldn’t recognize Auggie probably because Keith bought into the Nazi regime and thought his dad and brother were a part of it too. i dont think Auggie ever explicitly taught his sons to not be Nazis.

6

u/Oathkindle Oct 03 '25

Yea I think it helps the mirror of the two trios. Our auggie was a piece of shit and got one son killed and the other turned out better (not good) than auggie wanted. Their auggie was not quite the same piece of shit and and still lost a son and the other turned out worse than he wanted

This is the thing about acting on impulse: you can always end up royally fucking everything and everyone up.

Gunn's DCU has a very firm grasp in what it means to BE a hero and to try and ACT like a hero, and the clear difference between both. It adds layers to this universe and its characters.

10

u/inspector-say10 Oct 03 '25

i don’t think either version of Vigilante tries to act like a hero. he’s just a psychopath with access to weapons and he acts on his beliefs. to him a person hiring prostitutes is probably the same as a Nazi so he has no problem killing either one. that’s not something a wannabe hero does because they either don’t kill or they have a higher bar of evil where they have no problem killing.

5

u/TheOldThunder Oct 03 '25

(He did say to the crew thar he has to make shit up for his mom when he's "out doing superhero stuff", tho, didn't he?)

57

u/reasonablykind Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Are we talking morally or legally? Because morally he assessed things logically enough (within his capacities) while acting a bit too impulsively. It’s a Nazi world in which the Smiths maintain a cover of compliance that Bizarro Vig doesn’t know about, and that “our” Vig knows is HIS Auggie’s wet dream — deducing threat to life upon seeing his gang bloodied in Auggie’s house where one’s tied up makes sense (the force used was just excessive).

Legally (based on our own world), manslaughter probably applies here due to said excessive force + intent; he meant to stop a threat (could have without killing it), but didn’t accurately assess it.

56

u/Dadecum Oct 03 '25

i dont think anything vigilante has ever done has been legal.

13

u/lkodl Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

The key here is that Augie-2 is a non-Nazi living in a Nazi world. He's living in hell. The whole speech about being judged by God as his motvation for being a superhero is basically signaling that he wants out. And he dies doing the moral thing. (If you accept that there is no future for him and Chris-1 regardless since interdimensional stuff is too risky). So in a way, Vigilante just gave Augie-2 an early out. As brutal as it was.

The real consequnce is creating a villain in Keith. Vigilante robbed Keith of Augie-2.

4

u/sfr202x Oct 03 '25

It was clear blue dragon was keeping his sons in line to his ideals as much as possible with peacemaker being the more rebellious one, that’s probably why they all lived together to begin with. I honestly feel very bad about Keith, he really lost everything this episode.

25

u/EmperorPeriwinkle Oct 03 '25
  1. Vigilante did nothing wrong.
  2. If you're sitting in the western world saying blue dragon deserved it, your ass almost certainly deserves it too.

9

u/sfr202x Oct 03 '25

Yeah people talking here like they fighting trump and or ICE all day. They just talk shit on the internet, even someone with a power suit would lost to an army, there’s very little he can do about it. Blue dragon was as good as he could, and also being a terrorist and joining the sons of liberty is not the answer, terrorist always target innocents.

6

u/Thehusseler Oct 03 '25

To be fair this does assume things about people. There are people out there fighting the regime, organizing against ICE raids, etc. Many of those also use the internet.

5

u/TheawfulDynne Oct 03 '25

Unless they are posting from prison or the afterlife none of them are doing the real life equivalent of what they are treating as the bare minimum for Auggie X. The RL potential targets arent secret and weapons arent hard to get. Hell even jet packs are a real thing. The guy who took a shot at the deplorable in chief wasn’t some super soldier with high tech energy blasters and Tibetan monk training.

Vigilante doesn’t think things through, this was pointing that out. People rush and make bad decisions in the heat of the moment.

10

u/Echoing_Screams Oct 03 '25

Based on this thread, Auggie2 is just a nazi because he didnt fight an entire worlds worth of fascist regime by himself. So, how many of you have physically fought ICE to stop them kidnapping people? How many of you are breaking into these facilities to protect innocent people? How many of you are joining rebel groups now that the big orange man is openly declaring war on American cities? You want to sit and judge, while taking the same actions you'll crucify others for.

Was he perfect? No. But he atleast tried to raise two good sons and protect them from the world. He at the very least cared about his family.

8

u/sfr202x Oct 03 '25

I have to free with this, plus even with a power suit he would just lose to an army if he began doing this, plus helping the sons of liberty who target innocent people is also not a good thing to do regardless.

2

u/Logic-DL Oct 03 '25

Also him dying puts innocents at risk. As far as we know, the Top Trio are the ONLY superheroes capable of killing Kaiju.

3

u/VorpalSplade Oct 03 '25

I mean, he might have to stop murdering people on sight with no qualms. We already have Peacemaker trying to do better and not be a bona-fide ruthless murderer-assassin-merc and Vigilante’s an even worse version as he thoroughly enjoys killing people he deems bad, people just let it slide because he’s goofy and funny. I feel like this event is kind of commentary on how people treat each other irl. By all means we were lead to believing that Auggie-2 was a heinous person, but he turned out to be the opposite, and thus Adrian trusted his assumptions and killed first, asking questions later.

I don’t get people saying alt Auggie should have helped the sons of liberty they were shown to be more than incompetent and not capable of anything more than trying to blow up random buildings. Maybe he could kill the governor of America and then evil Superman gets called up and throws him in outer space because if it’s Earth X the Superman there is not very nice. And if it’s really Earth X and it’s the whole world there’s zero chance he could do anything but blow up random stuff and kill a few people

4

u/Raida-777 Oct 03 '25

Agreed, people have been accusing Alt Auggie for being a Nazi for weeks. And they are upset when Vig kills him immediately after seeing John tied up?

Gunn also said Vig only loves Peacemaker and John so what do you expect him to act like?

5

u/KindlyPants Oct 03 '25

People must be forgetting how they felt literally a scene earlier

11

u/Aldo-D-D-Wilson Oct 03 '25

Yes, he did something wrong.

He made the same mistake that Peacemaker did in episode 3, that the whole squad did in TSS.

And in this episode we got Peacemaker pointing out how absurd is the way they act.

The whole thing is around Peacemaker learning that you can't act like that.

4

u/TheOtherPeanut17 Oct 03 '25

I’m mad at Vig but you can’t argue that from his perspective he was justified in his actions

3

u/nosarcasmforyou Oct 03 '25

I'm not even mad at him. It's like being mad water is wet.

2

u/sfr202x Oct 03 '25

Yeah not only the information he had from earth x but also the information he has from earth 1 white dragon, it’s very understandable to do what he did, just dispose of the biggest threat the fastest.

3

u/mavrik1984 Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

I loved this episode but in the end, auggie and kieth didn't deserve this... I was pissed off bc these were the people our Chris should've been with. A real caring thoughtful family... They were just brought up in a bad world. All of you saying the trio are collaborators? Well they're a trio Against an entire nation that has overman as their iron fist.. Plus Keith as much as his father tried to teach him from right and wrong.. He did lead the mob chasing down ads which you saw clearly auggie was upset about when he said "I thought you boys better than that!" kieth clearly is more of a collaborator of this world than his father. Clearly didn't entirely share his father's views but did so anyway out of loyalty, love and respect for auggie, but not without his brother and especially his father... That is not the last we will see of him, and probably not alone... As usual.. Vig just turned a bad situation to worse.. For all we know, auggie could've been helping the sons of liberty or potentially have started it like our auggie was a neo nazi and was leader of his own terrorist cell as the white dragon. Just really sucks to see how this auggie went.. And poor peacemaker watching his father being taken away again and once again it's bc of him... Our man can never catch a break 😔

5

u/nosarcasmforyou Oct 03 '25

Well, that's who Vigilante is. I think it's easy to get caught up in his goofy and sweet he can be, but the show at no point has made it a secret that he's a psychopath/sociopath who genuinely enjoys killing and whose justifications to kill are, at best, vaguely rooted in "justice."

I mean, we're talking about a man who in season 1 laughingly mentions that he finds satisfaction in choking someone to death, who obiously sees killing innocent people as an oopsie, who's perfectly willing to kill someone over graffiti, who's wanted on multiple counts of murder and referred to by everyone as a maniac (including people who know him like Chris). Hell, remember the vet clinic people? They had to talk him out of killing them. Sure, after that his weirdly sweet side emerged and he doesn't want to tape them so their skin isn't hurt, but again, his first instinct was to kill them.

This season we've had less of him overall, but regular people don't go chopping up their best friends alternate selves with so much enthusiasm, and remember the conversation he overheard where Adebayo accidentally set up a prostitution jig? Remember his line? "Don't worry, I never kill prostitutes, only Johns."

Ignoring the fact that killing John's is also an absurd overescalation and more evidence that he's just fucking nuts, he didn't say "I'd never kill you." he went for the "I don't kill prostitutes." and that right there is a pretty big difference.

Hell, that brings back season 1 too where after tag teaming Amber with Chris he angrily complains that if weed hadn't been legalized he would've killed them for smoking in front of him.

Vigilante has always been a happy murder gremlin who's always always going to opt for the kill unless he genuinely doesn't want to do it or can't justify it with whatever the fuck his "code" might be that day, because even that is all over the place.

Of course he was going to immediately kill Auggie, no questions asked. Not only is it perfectly in character but he also had absolutely no information to let him know that maybe, just maybe, things weren't what he thought.

In his world, Red Dragon is a POS who despises Chris and makes him suffer. Adrian never understood why Chris didn't just kill his father. It was the logical thing to do.

His alt self, who also pointed out that killing people over graffiti isn't the same as killing nazis mind you, told him about the fucked up world and didn't appear to know (or care) that Blue Dragon was a good guy.

From the outside looking in, and unable to hear what was going on inside, Economos was tied up, Harkour and Chris are banged up and the situation looks pretty damn tense because they're being held up by who Adrian believes are bad guys.

I genuinely struggle to imagine any other action Adrian could've taken other than murder. Obviously it wasn't the best one, but it's what he does.

Water is wet, Adrian kills people, even innocent people sometimes, because that's just what he does. Hell, it wasn't even the first time he stabbed Chris's dad in the neck. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Him being a cutie patootie doesn't change that he's a dangerous murderous maniac. It's who he's been all along and the show never ever hid that. It's just this is the first time he killed the wrong person in front of the audience, but it's literally said he does it all the time.

10

u/Elensar265 Oct 03 '25

Pretty sure that was the point, in the prior scene we were shown Auggie as being potentially a decent person in a world his counterpart would've revelled in

Chris seeing that then had it ripped away from him, thus taking away any possible healthy relationship hey may have had with his "father"

Vigalinte was justified in what he did but it served as a plot device to further traumatise a Chris who was on a path to self healing and acceptance that his family were evil

Now he's probably gonna have to kill his brother all over again but this time actually mean it

10

u/Shoelace1200 Oct 03 '25

The show clearly portrays it as wrong.

I'm surprised so many DC fans are so comfortable with indiscriminate killing. This universe has Batman and Superman.

As much as I love characters like Vigilante, it doesn't make murdering someone you know nothing about okay.

To be honest I don't think August deserved to die, he was clearly not a Nazi and seemed to have the mindset of "I can't fix the injustice of the world but I can still do good," as for stabbing Economos the dude literally broke into his house so he had some right to be alarmed.

Auggie was a klan leader in the normal world. In Nazi world it’d be a pretty solid bet to assume he’s bad news. The only info you have is what you can see through the window which is that he’s armed and at least one of your friends is tied up and bleeding.

2

2

u/brevenbreven Oct 03 '25

Fuck Alt Auggie Glazers 1. He wanted his kids to be better but both of his sons work with Gov Argus agency rather than pardon the pun being a vigilante. 2. He fought Monsters and Madmen. You can be a Badguy by fighting to preserve the status quo of a nation of slavers 3. The first time he kills on screen its for his own benefit and security.

Man was Neo liberal as fuck "I wish there weren't nazis but i'm not going to oppose anything they do"

2

u/Pleasebecoolbro Oct 03 '25

I want to also push back on the people saying alt Augie was a “good guy.” He may have had some redeeming qualities on the surface, but he’s totally complicit in the Nazi society he lives in. We saw him and Keith completely destroy several armed cops, but we’re supposed to believe he felt helpless to fight back against the Nazi ideology that he claims to not agree with? He’s just one of those people who feels good about not being personally racist while not holding all the racist people around him accountable. There’s that saying about if you’re at a table with 9 people and 1 Nazi, you’re actually at a table with 10 nazis (or something like that). Point is, I don’t think he was a good guy, and I call bullshit on his little speech. Vigilante didn’t do anything wrong 🤷🏾‍♀️

2

u/ProtectMyExcalibur Oct 03 '25

Totally agree, honestly without any info it’s 100% acceptable to believe that they’re not planning to let them leave with their lives. Also both of them are wearing hi-tech suit of weaponry on their body, a sneak attack was necessary to even the odds, but who would expect that Auggie is not a N and willing to let them go.

Also Auggie killed like a dozen police officers minutes before, not saying Vigilante would know that.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Charging in head first and killing blue dragon was not a level headed and well assessed thing to do

2

u/No_Armadillo_3093 Oct 03 '25
  • Altggie not being a nazi ≠ he is a good person. He still profited from and upheld the nazi regime and as far as we know did nothing good.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

VIGILANTE IS THE BEST TV/STREAMING CHARACTER OF THE LAST 5 YEARS and I will die on that hill, he took a decision with the information he had he knew his father on their reality was a dangerous man so he did the correct thing.

2

u/Asol115 Oct 04 '25

2

u/Tight_Strawberry9846 Oct 04 '25

Vigilante had no idea Auggie wasn't a nazi, and our Vigilante comes from a world where his Auggie was a white supremacist. They both fucked up but meant well.

2

u/iamahandsoapmain Oct 04 '25

Yeah from vigs perspective, he saw his friend being tied up and his other two friends bloody. Plus he's in a Nazi world, and as far as he's concerned, auggie would be racist numero uno
