Ghost or residual energy
I’ll make it quick. I live alone in a new build (1 yr), but I’ve been with my gf for about 10 years. She sleeps over a couple days per week. I’ve never experienced anything that would make think this home is haunted save for this experience.
About a week ago, I woke in the middle of the night, very alert, very awake, but I didn’t know why. I heard my gf next me (though she wasn’t here) breathing like she normally does when sleeping. I’m an insomniac so I know the sound well. I am a skeptical person, so, though I was frozen in fear, I asked myself, was it my own breathing or outside noises? No. It was exactly the sound of her sleeping next to me.
She’s very much alive. I’ve had no other paranormal experiences. What happened? (And yes, before you ask, I’m totally certain that I was awake and not experiencing sleep paralysis).

I slept on the floor to trip the ghost that kept walking past my bed. Instead, a wolf walked in and nibbled my hand.
I had an encounter where this little girl walked into my room while I was falling asleep. My body froze, and my head was locked to the side. I saw her walk into my room. She looked like a 7 to 9-year-old. Her hair was in two ponytails that looked hard, like wire rags. I could barely make out her face. But I could see her smiling as she walked past me, and then away from me. I couldn't see her anymore. My body was frozen.
I got up the next morning and thought to myself, "Tomorrow night, I'm going to trip her."
The next night, I laid on the floor getting ready to go to sleep. I felt my body freeze. In that moment, from my left, I could see what looked like a wolf walking towards me. I could not move, but I could see him.
He smelled me. He nibbled on my hand. I could feel it. He walked past me again. And as I last saw him, my body unfroze.

do you see anything?
galleryTLDR: I showed my mom these pictures. she claimed she saw two figures in the first picture. when i showed her the second, she freaked out real bad and left immediately.
every now and then my mom talks about seeing figures in pictures. according to her, she’s always had this ability and used to actively look for figures in pictures, until one day she saw a dead girl hanging from a beam and it scared her so much she wanted nothing to do with it and stopped trying.
today, we talked about it again. she explained its something about opening up your mind to seeing it. she used to go in a facebook group where people shared pictures and lots of people saw the same thing. i dont have this ability and im very intrigued, so i couldnt help myself despite her telling me the whole thing makes her uncomfortable.
i went to an antique store a few weeks back, inside the building you see on these pictures. i randomly took these pictures cause i wanted to show my friends where i went.
the air in the upper floors was very bad quality, causing me to yawn non stop. felt weird up there.
i wanna know, does anyone see anything?

There’s something behind me in the mirror’s reflection.
galleryI took these first two photos around 2019 or 2018 at my Grandparent’s house. I didn’t notice what was in the mirror’s reflection until about 2023 when I was looking at some of my old Snapchat photos from middle school. I haven’t had anything like this show up in photos I take in that bathroom (or any bathroom) since then. The photos were taken less than a minute apart and as far as I know no other photos I took that day had anything strange in them. The other pictures attached aside from the first two I took later on after I realized something had manifested in them. Mostly I took them so that I could debunk it being something normal like a pattern in the shower behind me, and I haven’t been able to replicate what happened at all. The silhouette in the first two pictures is me, as far as I know. I know the pictures aren’t great quality but if you look under the light fixtures and at the mirror’s reflection in the glass door you can see a face that shifts between pictures.
The house that this took place at has weird things happen sometimes. I use to stay with my grandparents during school breaks sometimes and at night it just felt off. I’d hear something like someone walking around sometimes and I was terrified to leave my room. I don’t stay there overnight anymore but even now as an adult the feeling at night just isn’t right. Their property is sort of more out in the country in a neighborhood and they have two acres but only the area the house is at has lights at night. The property beside them which is owned by a local religious denomination with some cult like beliefs is pitch black at night. There’s a fence around the property but the gate isn’t motorized so at night someone always has to get out of the car and open it so the driver can move through, and then close the gate. It always sounds like something is moving in the darkness when the car moves and it’s super unnerving. We’ve heard thumping sounds before with no clear origin and a friend of my grandmother who is sort of into Christian spiritualism said there was a monkey spirit there once but I don’t really know the significance of that. One time a sturdy firewood pile got knocked over while there was about 10 people there and no one saw or heard anything despite us being in the room closest to the stack and a window being uncovered with a bit of a view of it. There wasn’t even a thud, we just went to help take the dogs outside and it was down. They also found a scorched piece of firewood near the house, which is a log cabin with a good bit of dry leaves and foliage around so it was definitely weird for anything like that to be so close to the house. Their previous house which was down the street from mine was creepy too and my mom had some weird experiences there growing up. One time for example, she was home alone when she was a teenager and something kept running up and down the walk up attic stairs and calling her name. My cousin and my brother also said they saw the shadow man in the backyard there. I don’t remember seeing anything there but I absolutely hated being near the attic door and upstairs in general by myself. Right before it got torn down a neighbor went by and took a picture. The windows were boarded up but in one of them there was a face. Unfortunately I don’t have that photo but I showed him these and he found it pretty creepy too considering.
I don’t know what was in the mirror in the first two pictures. It hasn’t happened since and every time I go to visit I take another picture just to check. I haven’t had anything even slightly similar happen.
Edit: looking at the silhouette beside me in the first two pictures compared to the others it does look a little bit odd because I’m standing in about the same place in all 4 but in the newer pictures there isn’t a silhouette like that. Plus the silhouette in the pictures seems a bit thinner than I was at the time. I don’t know though, it could just be the angle when it comes to that.

What long-term individual ghost are you most fascinated by?
r/ParanormalEncounters • u/No-Selection-1249 • 8h ago
I saw a ghost last night. It had white dots for eyes and maybe 5ft tall with a head and body.
Weirdly enough, I wasn’t scared of it. I saw it, turned over, said a prayer and went to sleep. However, I’m wondering if the white eyes meant anything? I’ve seen a ghost years ago, however it was the complete opposite. All white with black eyes. How can you tell if the ghost is negative or not or just a visitor? Again, I didn’t have any fear, but I’m curious as to what kind of ghost it was or am I slowly tapping into my mediumship?

What makes someone believe there is a ghost/entity in their home?
Okay so... I don't even know where to start or if this is the right sub to post to, if not please delete!
So we just bought a house, and after signing the papers the previous owners told us the house belonged to their son, who passed away, and today I found out he passed away in this home. Now, I understand that legally they do not have to tell us if there was a death on the property, but man something is going on. Before I start I'd like to say that I consider myself very spiritual and I have my own thing going on, but I do not really partake in the dark arts so there's no way I'm inviting that energy into my space, and I cleanse daily through smudging and prayer.
I have reason to believe that there is something in my house. Sometimes during the day, but mostly at night there are random loud thuds under the floorboard. There's no basement, just a crawl space, so I thought maybe racoons got in. The crawl space doors are slightly opened from what I can see in the garage, but I don't want to touch it!
There seems to be very heavy energy in our bedroom, which has a bathroom attached. Tell me why I have not used that bathroom or gone in there to clean it since we moved in, back in August which is EXTREMELY unlike me, a legit clean freak. For whatever reason I do not like that bathroom, so we keep the door shut. My partner doesn't even use it, or go into it unless he needs access to the electric panel (odd location). I also have not put our belongings into the bedroom closet because it just has weird energy around it. The whole house feels really dark and heavy, despite opening the windows for light. It's just gloomy here, so I have lights on during the day.
I'm usually at home most of the time with our child, so I've become very aware of my surroundings here, but sometimes it feels like there is a heavy energy around me. I mean, I already have my share of mental illness, but I have professional help and I consider myself very conscious and self-aware. I'm not just conjuring up things in my head, hearing voices, or anything! Trust me 😂
So do you think I got something going on? I don't wanna believe it, I'm new to paranormal encounters and I don't think I've ever experienced something like this. Tell me why I started getting into paranormal investigations all of a sudden? I'm scared of ghosts stuff, and holy crap I got our kid a Ghostbusters costume! Oh my God! I'm overthinking this 😭😭

Not a vid of an encounter, but can you imagine the kind of evidence paranormal investigators could nab with this?

My dog reacted to the ghost I was sensing
I'm going to start off saying like most people, I don't really believe in ghosts. Still really don't, but I don't know how to explain this one. It was about 3 months ago I was trying to fall asleep with my dog cleo. I don't remember exactly when, but I felt someone watching me, not just watching, but you know that feeling when you FEEL someone near you? Yeah well I assumed it was my dumb brother; he's been doing this weird staring at me at night game my whole life, so I opened my eyes to shoo him away when I realized no one was there. I thought I was crazy and closed my eyes again. It felt like it was coming closer, which I didn't care about until my dog sat up and stared at the exact corner I felt it coming from. THAT'S when I started freaking out. I didn't move; I didn't WANT to move. Before this, I thought I'd be big and tough if I met a ghost. Apparently not, because in that moment I just layed there still until I felt it lay on me??? EEWW. My dog immediately got off my bed, so I followed her. She had to use the potty. Whatever, when I got back to my room, the feeling was gone. I never experienced anything like it after. Normally I would try to wave it off as something in my head, but I can't get over how Cleo acted. I need to know what y'all think and if this can be explained away.

What made you a believer?
About 5-6 years ago my family had recently moved to an apartment in North Dakota…one day around mid morning my wife and I were in the living room having coffee when we heard this loud noise from my 5 year old daughters room. We assumed something had fallen and I went to check. When I got to her room there was an adult fist sized hole in her wall about head height to me (roughly 5’6 from the ground) I asked my daughter what happened and she just said she didn’t know. I called my wife in to look at it and she saw the hole also. I stuck my fingers in the hole to feel the edges and even picked some drywall off. My wife and I went to living room and she called her grandma to tell her what happened, and when we went back to take a picture of the hole to send, there was no hole.
I know this is sounds weird but my wife and I have never been able to explain this happening, and my daughter was too young to remember it fully or explain what happened when she was in there alone (idk if she even saw it happen). I’ve always been interested in the paranormal but ever since then I think twice about discrediting someone’s experience.

Interprétation ?
Bonjour.

Mr Oliver
Since it is spooky season, I suppose it’s about time I told you about “Mr Oliver”.
In the house of my youth, for a period of about a decade, we experienced a range of events which we came to refer to as ‘The happenings’. They ranged from ghostly clocks and animals to moved or impossibly positioned objects, what you might call poltergeist activity. But today, I want to tell you about the events we attributed to a certain ‘Mr Oliver’.
The first encounter was in the mid nineties. I was about 16. The whole family; my parents, my sister, and I, were in the lounge watching TV. Both cats were with us too, curled up asleep, when suddenly we heard footsteps on our stairs. Slow, deliberate, and very heavy footsteps.
The stairs were right next to the lounge, separated from it by only a thin wall, and the sound was not only clear even over the sound of the TV, but completely unmistakable. The cats woke up in full alert. It chilled us to the bone, as it does to me even now as I write this, in recollection of that moment. My Dad remained obliviously slumped asleep on the sofa like always, but the rest of us stared at each other in wide-eyed horror. There was no one else in the house. At least, there shouldn’t have been.
Being the brave and confrontational boy I was, as well as nearest the door, I leapt from my seat, flung the door open, and stepped aggressively into the dimly moonlit hallway. There was no one there. I ran the few steps to the switch and slapped the lights on as I turned sharply to look up the stairs. Not a soul in sight. The girls stood in the doorway of the lounge, evaluating the situation from my reaction. I just looked back at them stony faced, and shook my head.
It would appear we’d all heard a phantom intruder. Still, I wanted to make sure no one corporeal was really there. I ran up the stairs and with my heart now pounding, checked each room, slamming the doors open with the intent of injuring anyone who might be hiding behind, checked under every bed, behind every curtain, and in every closet. There was no one here. I went back to the landing and looked down at my mum and sister now standing anxiously at the foot of the stairs. “Nothing.” I shrugged. “That’s really weird.”
But my sister was sniffing the air in confusion. “What’s that smell?” She said, at the exact moment I detected it too. “It’s like tobacco.”
“Yes, it’s pipe tobacco” Mum agreed.
Indeed, it did smell exactly like pipe tobacco. Distinctly sweet and earthy, the smell of it grew until it filled the room.
Now, no one in our household smoked, or ever had. Nor did our neighbours. In fact I wasn’t aware of anyone in this stretch of our street who smoked a pipe. We’d never encountered such a scent in the house before, and needless to say, we were quick to attribute it to our mysterious visitor.
Not only did no one in our household smoke, but the previous owners of the house, who had lived there from the mid 50s to 1970 when my parents bought it, didn’t either. But… the one before did: Mr Oliver. We were well aware of him because he had been a local character, a big, former military man, who had owned a war memorabilia shop in the village. He owned the house from new, circa 1936, until the 50s. Such was his military obsession, he’d painted most of the floorboards and stair treads, which were still in situ, olive drab… and he was never seen without a pipe.
Over the next few days, Mum told us everything she knew about him. It seemed he would likely have been in his 80s or 90s at this point, and though we knew nothing of his fate, it seemed quite possible that he had recently died. We were a family of logical minded skeptics however, so we shook off any idea that we were being haunted, or rather, laughed it off enough to put it to the very back of our minds.
But these experiences continued with regularity. Sometimes we’d hear the footsteps on the stairs, sometimes we’d smell the pipe tobacco. Often, they came together. This seemingly happened at any time of the day or night. You’d be about to go upstairs when the smell of pipe tobacco would suddenly hit you, followed immediately by the distinctive sound of each 60 year old stair tread creaking or knocking in turn in its own idiosyncratic way under the weight of someone ascending the stairs. You’d be going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, on the landing when you’d hear those steps, getting closer and closer, doubling your heart rate. And every time you looked, there was nothing to see. For some reason, at night it was more terrifying, and sent all of us at one point or another rushing back to our rooms, locking and perhaps even barricading the door closed.
This went on for a couple of years and I suppose we eventually got used to it. ‘It’s just Mr Oliver’ we told ourselves. It remained creepy, and unnerving, but never threatening. But then it escalated.
Aged around 18, I was in my bedroom one afternoon, and alone in the house, when I heard the footsteps on the stairs. I should make it clear at this point that I’d lived my whole life in this house and had impeccable knowledge of every single sound it made. I could especially identify every floorboard by its sound, and could tell instantly who was coming up the stairs by the weight and cadence of the steps. This was no one living. This was Mr Oliver.
As always, my heart quickened, my skin turned to goosebumps, but my mind sought to soothe me. “It’s just Mr Oliver” I said quietly, but out loud, expecting the footsteps to fade out at the top of the stairs like always. They didn’t.
Two more steps were taken, the last of which pressed heavily on the distinctly creaky floorboard right outside my bedroom door: The same floorboard that creaked every time someone was listening at my door, or about to knock. But this felt different. This person was far heavier, their footsteps slower. Besides, no one was home besides me. And then came the knock.
KNOCK… KNOCK… KNOCK.
Three heavy knocks on my bedroom door. One a second. As slow and deliberate as the footsteps, and unquestionably the sound of heavy human knuckles on thin wood. I stood up and stared uncomfortably on the door. Like always, it was bolted shut, but I was nervous none-the-less. There was a distinct feeling of menace about this now. I swallowed hard. My heart was racing. But somehow, I found the courage to answer the door.
With my foot firmly behind the door as a stop, I unbolted it and opened it just a few inches. There was no one there. I came out and just like the first encounter, checked every room, and even downstairs, but found nothing. This set a new precedent. It didn’t always happen, but often. Only ever on my bedroom door, no other. Whenever I heard the footsteps on the stairs I’d tighten up, waiting for the knock. It happened sometimes in the dead of night, with everyone asleep. It’d wake people up. Everyone heard it. No one could explain it. And of course, it was often accompanied by the smell of pipe smoke.
Our cats reacted to it too. They’d act erratically even before the knock, sometimes even before the footsteps on the stairs. Our female cat, who had not been prone to the zoomies, would suddenly go berserk, racing around the house in a panic as if looking for an exit, just before the smell of pipe smoke presented itself. Our male cat, a very relaxed boy who almost invariably spent the night stretched out on a blanket on my sister’s windowsill, would suddenly stare in fear at her door, his tail fluffed up, often foreshadowing the knock on my door.
This went on for a year or so. Unlike the footsteps and the pipe smell, we never got used to it, at least I didn’t. Conversely, a heavy and oppressive feeling of dread seemed to grow larger with each time it happened. At one point, there was an even a flush of the toilet. I came out of my room, this time sure it must be a family member unexpectedly home during the day, only to find nothing but an empty house, yet the toilet cistern refilling, and the sound of footsteps, this time, uniquely, descending the stairs. As amusing as that seems to some people, whatever this entity was, it was undoubtedly interacting with the physical world, and that was terrifying.
The last time the knocking happened, though three deliberate knocks as always, they had greater urgency to them. Slightly faster than normal, and a lot harder. It felt angry rather than assertive. So much so that I climbed halfway out of my bedroom window in a panic to escape.
After that, it never happened again. That’s when the poltergeist activity started, but that’s a story for another time.
--x--
TL:DR
For a few years in the 90s, an entity which we attributed to the spirit of a former resident of our house, used to walk loudly up our stairs, smoke a pipe, and knock loudly on my bedroom door.

Friend past away unbeknownst to me and I had a weird dream experience?
Okay bear with me I don’t use Reddit heavily and this is my first actual post. I prefer to read what others have to say on this app over telling my own experiences lol but I was just curious if anyone could explain what happened here. So I was friends with this girl in 2019 we stopped being friends due to bs highschool drama type things. Wellll it was toxic but I digress. I continued to hold a strong sense of love for her regardless of her past actions. Well in 2024 I was in my room asleep with my husband and son. I think my son was awake he was 3 at this time but I can’t confirm bc of memory. Some monster truck cartoon was on the tv i remember this because i remember thinking maybe I was hearing some sort of audio that was just mixing into dream realm but this wasn’t it. Anyways i woke up i remember feeling SO heavy like when ur dead tired and cant even force urself to stay awake. So after looking at the tv i was right back out I remember feeling over heated as fuck. Idek if this was a dream bc it wasnt visionary it was all auditory. But in this dream like state i hear harps ?? Like beautiful harps playing. Which idk about yall but I dont listen to the harp I mean I’ve heard it to identify but beyond that no previous interest. So im hearing this and it’s sounding like 8d audio surround sound in my head bro. And then I start hearing what sounds like a swarm of flies. Just buzzing. It was so loud and i woke back up trying to make sense of what the hell is going on in my head. Still feeling heavy as fuck. This time I could see myself I was in a like sleep paralysis state idek. I saw myself reaching for my husband trying to squeeze him to wake him up. As if I myself was awake. When I get sleep paralysis I try to use grip strength I don’t have to wake him to help me but i obviously can’t lol. Anyways what triggered me to wake tf up out of this was I was seeing myself as if I was awake and I was grabbing my phone and suddenly I actually woke up and noticed there’s no phone in my hand I’m facing the opposite direction as I just was in what I thought was my wake. So I freaked out and stayed awake till 7 am scared of what just happened. The next day someone I know posts my friends go fund me page for her funeral expenses …. I found out about her death through a fuckin Snapchat story… but then it hit me that what i experienced was around the time of her passing. She died from an od.. accidental. I think about her so fucking much. It’s been two years. I just can’t shake it. I love her at a soul level. I wonder if this was her way of telling me. Which kind of breaks my heart more. Anyone experience something similar?? Are the sounds symbolic ?? Why the harps and then flies ?? Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read or reply :))!!
