Contact go (pen and paper)
So I have decided after my first go inspired pen and paper game that the problem with it was that it had too much setup time. I have decided to remove this problem by removing the grid entirely from go. Link to the previous game here

There is also a tradition from the origins of go of players playing from the center of the board first and this is an attempt to revive that tradition.
For those not familiar with the game, go is an ancient Asian board game played with white and black stones or pieces where nature's are made by surrounding pieces and shapes of pieces. Once a piece is placed on the board, it stays in place and does not move. This game is traditionally played on a 19 by 19 grid board playing on the corners and intersections, although there are other traditional boards.
Rules of go posted here https://www.mastersofgames.com/rules/go-rules.htm?srsltid=AU7gw4UhqONWhw94Agc0GwkmEPi-2N2qFJUNXbPM6bjU5pj1sGthvW53
In contact go, there is no board. This means that pieces must be played touching eachother. Pieces can be played in the cardinal directions around a piece, next to them either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The game starts when black or X marks their first play somewhere on the paper. White or O then plays next to that piece and play continues in this manner. Since there is no grid, points are scored based on captures rather than teriyory. The game ends either at the first piece capture (surpunding of a teriyory) or when there is a clear front runner and no chance of recovery for the other player (longer time killing game).
If you play this game with a pen, then captured stones are not removed from the game but instead left on the board and counted for points.
edit: For those wondering what this is all about and the reason for making this rule set, it is basically just a go themed version of this game I remeber from high-school which might actually be called connect 3? https://www.reddit.com/r/schoolgames/comments/1x34j5q/endless_tik_tak_toe/
