Please help

Hi everyone. I don't speak English, so I'm using a translator. What do I need to download if I want to stay on Windows and program in PHP?

For learning, Laragon or Herd is the easy start on Windows. You install it and PHP, MySQL and a local server just work. Docker or WSL you can learn later.

You could: Sit down and try setting up a typical LEMP, LAMP and maybe even IIS before going for docker. This should yield way more knowledge, and you will also know why devs Love docker :)

I don't recommend using XAMPP. The project is no longer active and it hasn't been updated in years. From multiple reports I've seen their service management interface can be buggy and obviously that will never be fixed. You also have to do extra work to install up-to-date versions of the bundled software if you want to use recent features (or PHP libraries that use recent features). You'll also find it increasingly difficult to get support for (both because it ships older versions which often aren't supported by projects, and because it's native Windows, much fewer developers are using)

WSL is a much better option IMO. It gives you a standard Linux setup, which is very easy to get documentation and support for.

That depends. Just want to learn the basics? Go install Xampp:

(Copying my reply to the previous, now deleted, comment recommending XAMPP)

Did you try to follow that link yourself? Notice anything wrong on the page by chance?

You can use Forgekit.tools (tool I made very similar to XAMPP) or you can go with the most popular simple toold windows users use Laragon.org (it has annoying popups but you can download version 6 or older which don't have it but might be out of date)
