This is my first Total War game and second Warhammer game (I played Space Marine 2). Damn, this is exactly the kind of strategy game that is like crack to me. I played a lot of hours of Civilization and I like that franchise, but it hadn't pulled me as much as this one did. The hybrid RTS + turn based grand strategy is perfect. Plus, actually seeing your army on the field and not just token models on a board feels more epic. Sorry if I'm comparing it to Civ, I know they're different games, and I like Civ just fine. Just expressing how this game made me feel lol.
Amazing lore, art style, characters. The animated splash art on the Lord selection screen gets me excited. Makes me feel like every one of these characters is worth knowing and playing as. Space Marine made me dive into the lore for Warhammer 40k, and this game just gave me more reasons to.
I'm so happy I just dived in and gave it a try. I'm now watching beginner tutorials about concepts and systems and stuff. I genuinely would love to read some of your tips on how to play this game, too!
I played the Grand Cathay on my first campaign, set my goal as controlling the three bastion gates before trying another faction. Don't have a favorite yet, but I loved playing as Miao Ying (dragon lady strooong!). Currently playing Sisters of Twilight from Wood Elves and I love that they just play so, so differently.
Ok that's it, just wanna share this! lol
(Edit: I only just learned that "Warhammer" and "Warhammer 40,000" are totally different settings! So this is actually my first Warhammer game lol. Sorry bout that!)
