I love trying out new heroes fresh in comp. I'm telling the very first time I click on their name, I'm rolling that shit out in 5v5 comp on support.

Like the new black guy? I don't even know his name. I didn't know his name a month ago on the regular sub and I'm sure as hell not looking it up now, but I'll take him into comp right now and I have no idea what he does. I'll look at the toolkit, once, after barely making it to the first point in time for the match to start (I was taking a smoke break when my queue popped, so I also missed all of voting for maps/bans/etc).

That's the best way to learn: under pressure, where it matters. People just pick up bad habits in QP anyway, like shitting your diaper every time someone solo ults you or refuses to play Ana.
