Me and my friends play one placement match for 6v6 together, get some random predicted ranks and after the second match the person with the highest predicted rank gets an even higher one, the player with the lowest stays the same and we can't queue anymore.

Repeat after season reset

That would make sense if the same people got the lowest and highest predicted rank, but it is not so. It shuffles from season to season. One person has now preditced diamond in 6v6 after two matches while predicted silver in role queue (don't remember which role), last season they got predicted silver in 6v6

Have them start a new account and see if it's the same. It's likely due to their qp rank dragging them down. I jumped a full rank when I did it.

Ok so what I said isn't necessarily true. There is quick play mmr. Plays heavily on the first placements. After that it the comp mmr is continued and tracked even through hard resets. The above method still works especially if there has been huge improvements in skill because your mmr average can still weight you down. Especially on old accounts.

These kinds of matches is what I call a "carry" game.

Basically both teams have an extremely high elo player compared to the rest. Due to this, team work is inefficient since you know "the team is only as strong as it's weakest link" and it's weakest link is a bronze.

So instead of working as a team, you NEED to dominate as hard as possible MORE than their carry.

I don't think continually targeting the bronze DPS, who wasn't going to get an elim anyway, is really a good use of your attention.

They're not going to be that impactful anyway, so spawn camping them really isn't that effective. Especially when their team's best player will easily 1v4/5 your team and you're not there to do anything about it.

The bronze DPS, if not dealt with, will pressure your bronze player. Remember they both bronze. So they both have a chance of killing each other.

I just got out of a game where we had an unranked tank and a bronze support. They had 2 plats, one was tank. Everyone else gold. It went about as well as you’d think it would.

Ok people really need to understand the following:

There is no separate wide queue in OQ. It has been that way since season 13 (exactly 2 years ago - it’s actually in the patch notes for oct 29 of that year).

You can in fact have very wide ranges there

Everybody saying "Welcome to 6v6". "this is normal in 6v6".

6v6 is my main game mode, almost exclusively since it was released. This is not the norm. This makes me think you were queing in a low population server, or at a weird time. I'm pretty consistently high masters, and have only seen bad lobbies like this a handful of times. The worst one being diamond to GM. Or Masters to Champ.

Not saying it doesn't happen. It clearly does. But it's hardly a normal occurrence

I used to play 6v6 as my main game mode, my friends and I were all mid to high masters. We would VERY OFTEN get placed in lobbies that were bronze to GM, silver to masters, even gold to champ. Even when I was solo queuing like OP is while I mostly played during busy times like weekends in NA.

It didn’t happen to you so it must not be real! Just ignore all the people saying they’ve experienced the same as OP, I guess. I was Masters and GM before the last rank reset and I often got matched with Gold players. I play during normal times in North America.

The way I look at it, it's competitive QP. It's just organized chaos. And I love that aspect of it.

And it's gonna stay like that, until blizzard is actually serious about balancing a 6v6 mode, outside of "reduce tanks health".

I could easily list off my complaints about 6v6, and things I'd do to actually make it viable. The main thing is, open queue. I like open queue, but it needs to be 2-2-2 to be viable. Anything other than 2-2-2, leads back to the chaoticness.

That and shields, shields either need a nerf, or they need to make it so you can only have one shield tank in the game mode.

I’m placed in wide group matches as well as a solo queuer. Usually my high rank teammate is a Mercy while the opposing team has a high rank tank along the lines of Sigma 😂.

It’s bad enough to be placed in these wide group matches, but it would be nice if there was some parity on the role of the high ranked players on each team.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems the matchmaking creates a skill average for your team and the other as well.

Since you're Diamond and Luc was at one point, Masters, it is possible that you'll play against a Plat average team.

You must be close to ranking up. For some reason when you get one or 2 games from a new rank, Overwatch hands you carry games like candy. It’s so annoying.
