Hey, Oshkosh friends. We’re an antifascist metalcore band with a horror theme from Oshkosh, WI (all of us) and we’ve just released our debut album as a band. We hope you enjoy!

This is a pretty niche request, but I wonder if anyone in this subreddit knows anyone involved in the production for the 1981 movie "The Pit", which was partially shot in Oshkosh, Beaver Dam and Waupun?

I'm working on a project about the film and would love to talk to anyone who was involved. Any help is greatly appreciated!

There is an ALPR prohibition resolution on the city council agenda Tuesday. 

This is a big step in the right direction, but if we really want to keep ALPR tech off our streets, we should suggest to the council to consider replacing the proposed resolution with something more like Appleton’s recent proposed ALPR ban. Here’s why:

-the Appleton resolution specifies that it would ban city operated AND privately owned ALPR cameras. The Oshkosh one only covers city owned cameras. Police could still get data from privately owned cameras if they want to. 

-the Oshkosh resolution would prohibit the use of ALPR data for “criminal investigation purposes,” but that leaves a loophole for non criminal investigations (like traffic violations, immigration enforcement, etc.) The Appleton resolution does a better job closing this loophole. 

If you want to see an outright ban of AI surveillance tech in Oshkosh, show up on Tuesday and let the council know your thoughts. With enough people advocating to make this resolution even stronger, I think the council could be persuaded. We can get this done. 

I would love to see us PACK THE HOUSE for this meeting to speak up in favor of banning this tech.

I’m turning 25 soon and am wondering if there are any bars in the area that are frequented by people in their mid to late 20s. I love to dance and love Mollys, but I’m starting to feel too old to be in there with all of the college kids. Give me your recommendations!

Is there a way to report fire hazards in apartment buildings to the fire department/some city inspector so the fire code can actually be enforced?

Hey y’all! I’m wondering if anyone has experience breaking a lease with Focus Properties. I’ve lived in my apartment for a little over two years, and I believe the unit will be renovated once I move out, if that makes any difference.

I signed another 12-month lease in August, but I recently came across an opportunity through a family friend. If they end up purchasing the house they’re interested in, I’d have the opportunity to move into their current home for the same amount I’m paying in rent now.

Has anyone dealt with breaking a lease early through Focus Properties? I’m curious how they handle it, what fees I might be looking at, and whether they’re willing to work with tenants in situations like this. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve definitely gown out of the pub crawl scene and enjoy a less loud venue; are there any restaurants I can still enjoy tonight that won’t make me wish I stayed home? Or is it truly mostly limited to bars/pubs? I hate to sound like a crotchety old bitch, I just want to enjoy myself while also allowing those who want to participate to enjoy themselves…. Away from me lol.

Currently en route to Oshkosh for a wedding and am on the hunt for good bars to watch the 11am Nebraska and Indiana game. Our group is majority Husker fans so anywhere that would be down with that is a plus!

The Oshkosh event will be a peaceful, pro-democracy protest organized by Peaceful Patriots.

We say “No Kings” because power does not belong to billionaires, strongmen, or corrupt politicians who believe they are above accountability. Power belongs to the people- so let’s use it!

The League of Women Voters of Winnebago County will also be there with information about voting rights, voter registration, and what’s on the ballot this November.

Earlier in the day, Indivisible Winnebago Wisconsin will be holding a “Vote Early” canvassing action from 9 am–12 pm during the farmers market to distribute voting information.

Anyone know why there is heavy police presence in this area? At least 20 cops walking through yards. And another dozen just standing on the sidewalk. There’s even some across the street. All lights were on, but no sirens were going.

I've seen this chalked around the Sundial, other public sidewalks downtown, and at St. Vincent's. I saw a lady doing it one day but, but I didn't think to stop and ask. Does anyone know what it means?
