Question CODEX PLUS USERS

Hello I'm thinking of buying Codex plus but I'd like to know if it's a good choice for what I'm trying to do and what the best codex plus model for Roblox game development that gives long coding sessions and just best overall for developing a high quality Roblox game?

Seeing as you have some dev experience, I think Codex would be better than Claude for you. Claude can give better immediate results but Codex will generally help you build better long term, reliable codebase and 6.1 Sol is very cheap, even on Plus.

I do want to warn you, if you want a high quality Roblox game, that will depend on your effort and design, no matter what model you pick.

I mainly know how to build maps and create UI, but I don't have much experience with scripting but would it also be capable of handling most of the development for my game like game mechanics, cutscenes, simple animations, visual effects, and other systems? Would Codex Plus be a good choice for long development session

It will be able to do it, but if you want things like cutscenes, visual effects and other systems, you might want to use Opus 5.5 here.

If you want a high quality game and you are the only developer, this will require quite a bit of work from you, as you will be effectively managing multiple agents at the same time. At this point I would say that you should likely get both a 20 dollar subscription for Claude and a 20 dollar subscription for Codex (you don't have to get Claude yet), and basically use Codex to build the fundamentals of the game, then use Claude for things like UI, visual effects, animations and anything visual.

I'm saying this because I myself am trying to create a relatively big and high quality game, and it requires quite a bit of work, even though I don't make art or write any code, the only thing I actually do is make decisions and do testing in game.

You can check my progress over the last 5 weeks on my channel, this is the first video, you can follow the progress across 4 videos, and you will notice that on Plus account, the progress is not that fast.

If maybe you could give a bit more detail about the scope of your game, then I could give more detail about if this is the kind of situation where you might need a bigger subscription to finish the game in reasonable amount of time.

I been using Codex plus for few months now for my own game projects, not Roblox but similar scripting stuff and the long sessions are what sold me on it

6.1 Sol handles massive context really well, I can dump half my codebase in there and it remembers things from start of session which is super helpful when you working on something complicated

Your top comment is right though, model wont make good game for you but it will help you not lose your mind when you three hours deep in a scripting rabbit hole at 2am

Even on Plus, I feel like being free to just throw massive amount of tokens at the problem using 6.1 Sol is so amazing, just like you are saying. I feel like if we get like 6.4 Luna or something like that, especially on Ultrafast, this could just make making extremely big games so much easier, because the iteration speed plus how much extra compute you can throw at making the game reliable is so nice.

I think, especially with Opus 5.5 making minigames is effectively solved. You can still make complex games with Astra or 6.1 Sol, but those still require a lot of effort, but it might take some time until we get Opus 5.5 performance for big games.

Luna high is cheap. Even solos burns too fast for plus. At least for me it does
