Op grabbed an agitated blister beetle, which, true to its name, secretes a painful vesicant (blister agent), seen covering the op’s hands in the last photo
(I hope they didn’t get burned too badly. It’s not uncommon to see people posting blister beetles in insect subreddits, due to their strange shape, and I was really hoping that this wouldn’t be another post of someone manhandling the beetle. No luck)

I don't know what I would have done, but I wouldn't have been holding a pole while the spanks were jumping.

A while back, this Redditor from India found a “fairly non-bitey” bat on the ground and handled it bare handed. Rabies is rampant in India, the highest rates of any country. Around 35% of all rabies fatalities occur in India. They posted an update that they later found the bat dead, which is a pretty good indicator that it was rabid.
This was posted in a bats subreddit, where everyone failed to warn them of the danger, and instead said typical Reddit things like “what a cute wittle baby!” The OP was fairly active on Reddit until making this post, but was never heard from again.
I have messaged them a couple of times to check to see if they are okay, but received no response. RIP.

In my defense, I've never seen a brown recluse that small. I assumed it was a wall spider. Said "ohhhhh no" out loud when I got it into the light, and tossed it outside immediately after taking these

Kid correctly remembers the “Red touch black, friend of Jack. Red touch yellow, kill a fellow” rhyme. Kid doesn’t process that, on this snake, red was touching yellow. Kid manhandles deadly snake until it bites him, but lucked out because it was a dry bite that did not deliver any venom.
Context: The snake he was handling was an eastern coral snake, which packs an extremely dangerous neurotoxic venom. Even worse, because they are so secretive and generally unwilling to bite, demand for antivenom is very low, and the manufacturer of the only antivenom stopped producing it years ago.
Since we can’t post videos, here is the link to the original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/KidsAreFuckingStupid/s/ZbtBrkdk2M
Disclaimer regarding the coral snake rhyme: I would caution against following it, even in the US. It isn't foolproof and only applies to some snakes that live in parts of North America. However, it is unreliable even in the US, as certain coral snake morphs may not display the coloration or pattern from the rhyme, which could lead to unexpected envenomations by mis-identified coral snakes. Outside the US, a variety of coral snakes species’ colors do not comport with the rhyme, either.

Would not have noticed how bald my inner tire was if I didn’t change my brakes. 😬

These are my rear brake pads and I don't think that the metal is supposed to be exposed 😵💫 Comparison with a new pad. Luckily changed out all 4 today before anything bad happened but could've caused quite the headache.

Alec Steele has a new video out, he was digging a hole for the foundation of a power hammer. He mostly used a backhoe but squared the walls and corners with a pick and shovel.
I'm not sure if the concrete floor counts as shoring.
