About this event (Bismarck)
NO KINGS Rally at Bismarck Capitol Saturday, Oct. 17, 1pm to 3pm, 6th & Boulevard.
For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now we are taking the next step and turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not only a protest. Instead, October 17 is a day of nonpartisan voter participation where we are bring our community together to make plans to vote early and to ensure every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote to make their voice heard.
Because no one person gets to decide our leaders other than voters, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote!
Say it loud: NO THRONES! NO CROWNS!, NO KINGS! VOTE EARLY!
“No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”

Info Request WEASEL ADVENTURE : VENTING: TIPS ASKED FOR AND APPRECIATED DARN WEASEL!
I live in Langdon, ND. Second time a freaking weasel got in. We occassionally get mice under the door from the garage, where I cannot seem to get rid of them. This thing was growling and ate up a storm. He got in my office. Ate a full box of crackers on the desk. Empty box was on the chair. Ate my headphone cord. Not a joke. I work from home. Office is sending me a new set. Then he went outside. Got the lid off the garbage can and ate through about 5 bags of trash. UGH. Occassionallly we get foxes, (outside only, but mice rarely that we do manage to catch in traps and this weasel troublex2) but we are not farmers, and they are pretty. I do not mind him. I think he is gone though. Saw a dead fox his same color as roadkill about a month ago about a mile from us. Anything you can do ward off weasels? Our garage is not attached. It is the mice drawing him in.

Info Request Insights On Dickinson
So Dickinson is a city I am currently considering. I have lived in three North Dakota cities before... Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot. I visited Dickinson for a long weekend in 2021. I liked numerous things I encountered while there, but also experienced some things that make me unsure.
I do enjoy smaller cities in general. Fargo, and even Bismarck, were a bit too large for my liking. I don't really like crowds. Part of that is likely due to a vision inpatient I have. Dickinson definitely didn't overwhelm me with large crowds.
When I was there in 2021, several businesses and restaurants I attempted to visit were closed despite it being regular hours. This was likely due to short staffing. 2021 was tough all over the country for staffing, but I know North Dakota has an ongoing issue with finding workers. Have you encountered businesses being unable to operate their normal hours these days?
My next concern is regarding health care. I don't currently have any ongoing health issues that I am treated for. But can you get into a doctor when you need one or is there a severe shortage causing long waits?
Lastly, how well does Dickinson handle snow removal, particularly on sidewalks? I walk a lot due to being unable to drive. North Dakota generally has been very good about snow removal in the places I have lived. But I know Dickinson has some stretches in between places that are nicely side-walked but not necessarily near businesses or homes. Does anybody bother to clear those areas?
Thank you for any insight.

Interesting Weird light NW ND.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Over the past 3 years or so my coworkers and I have noticed lights in the sky north of Williston where there theoretically is no civilian aircraft on any flight tracking websites. It is also weird that the lights appear and disappear over the same area without any hint of navigation or beacon lights. Anyone have an idea what they may be?

Housing Can living in an upper floor apartment help retain heat during ND winters?
I’m contemplating taking a job in either Fargo or Jamestown and if so I’d plan to rent a small 1 bed/1 bath apartment for the first year instead of buying a home to not have to worry about selling if I decide I can’t handle the winters. I was reading through some other threads in this subreddit and some posters claimed that living on an upper floor in an apartment, that they rarely had to use their heater except on the coldest of days. I know that heat rises, and living in a two-story home in the south we once had a 5 day power outage due to a hurricane. While both floors were hot, the second story was downright intolerable due to the heat, even at night with the windows open. However, hardly having to use the heat at all during NoDak winter seems far fetched. Should I put in to live on an upper floor or would it not make much difference?
This is the thread. One poster even states they had to open a window.

Interesting The scene of the crime - I recently was in Neche ND where I visited the grave of Arthur LeClair - an eighteen year old railroad man who returned home on December 22, 1907 with a hundred dollars as a gift for his parents. By the next morning he was dead and under the ice of the Pembina River.
Grave of Arthur Leclair & The O'Brien House, where the Pinkerton Detective who solved the crime stayed.

Info Request 1/2 cow recommendations?
We are looking to buy either 1/4 or 1/2 cow near Minot (2-3 hour drive would be okay, too). Does anyone have any recommendations? Our non-negotiable is that is has to be locally raised. If anyone has bought one recently, what is a fair price/lb?
