My favorite part of that phrase is that it doesn't rhyme when written out, but it does if you speak the Southern dialect of American English

So if that is "not an appropriate response" , that implies that there is a correct reply you can give which will get you out of a speeding ticket.

Who, or what, is Dale?

For slightly more context. Dale Earnhardt was arguably the most pointlessly aggressive driver in NASCAR history & it worked for him. He won 7 championships & became a fan favorite. He was killed in a last lap crash in the 2001 Daytona 500 & since has essentially been sanctified by the American racing community.
Also, Greensboro is really close to where he lived down the road in Kannapolis.
RAISE HELL PRAISE DALE!

"oh let me guess you need to fill your quota" then demand to see the date of calibration of the radar is the way to respond

Yeah, antagonizing the cop is a bad move. Just dont say anything, be cordial, and dont answer questions you arent obligated to. Something something shut the fuck up friday.
If you get a ticket and want to fight it, the radar gun thing can be handled then
(Not a lawyer, just regurgitating the advice from the lawyers ive spoken to, fafo or some shit)
