Seems like a crazy amount of money to spend on something that doesn't not seem even a tiny bit concerning in regard to its health.

Edit: You guys are fucking nuts. My cats pee in many places other than the litter box, especially outside. A cat choosing to pee in the sink would not warrant concern. A cat peeing all over the house would.

66

u/Traditional_Bid_5585 Aug 08 '26

Peeing outside the litterbox is very alarming, sometimes being a sign of an UTI, being in lots of pain and even worse things. That's a pity the vet and owner didn't identify that Jorts is doing it in just one place and only when others are peeing earlier, but most important that the kitty is healthy

34

u/FallenAgastopia Aug 08 '26

No, urinating outside of the litterbox is definitely concerning, especially if its a new behaivor. It can be a sign of a lot of health issues.

2

u/mapmakinworldbuildin Aug 09 '26

Don’t tell this to the guy who has had his cat doing that for years. He will go from the cat living 15 years to suddenly dying a week after going to the vet from the problem that had been undiagnosed for years.

(Cats are fucking weird)

11

u/crimsonpostgrad Aug 08 '26

peeing outside the litter box suddenly is like, one of the few reasons you might actually need to take your cat to the vet lol

u/PacinoWig Aug 07 '26

"human pees in that big bowl with running water in the little room that smells like pee, I pee in this small bowl with running water as befits my size in the little room that smells like pee."

cat's logic checks out!

110

u/world-is-ur-mollusc Aug 07 '26

I had a cat who used to pee in the bathtub, presumably for that very same reason!

47

u/RainStormLou Aug 07 '26

I also had a cat that peed in the bathtub but only when she couldn't get to her litterbox. it was maybe a few times a year or less, but as a side story, we found out a kid pooped in the litterbox once because she wouldn't use it until we changed it. we were like "the door is open to it but it smells crazy bad, I think something is wro- wait what the fuck!?"

27

u/WinnieGraves Aug 08 '26

we had a cat that trained itself to use the toilet, and she was a really weird prissy lady about it, she'd be fine going if me or my mother was in the bathroom, but if my stepfather, or any other masc coded individual was in the room, like my sister is very tomboy, but still cis, and the cat would even wait for her to leave. weird cat. she also lost her tail like a year later to a car, and became even stranger.

Jorts is a great name šŸ™‚

111

u/chitzk0i Aug 07 '26

Jean and Jorts have had other adventures!

92

u/On_my_last_spoon Aug 07 '26

Jorts’s origin story is an epic born from Reddit!

Edit - https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/qGhpKv2nXq

27

u/rachelblairy Aug 07 '26

I never read their origin but have seen some twitter updates of them and I’m fucking losing it I think every workplace needs cats

9

u/On_my_last_spoon Aug 07 '26

The Jorts story is amazing! Also the social media account is not at all what I was expecting (being vague as to this sub’s rules on content) but I am here for it!

3

u/Sad-Net67 Aug 09 '26

OMG I remember when this was current. hell yeah jorts!!

169

u/illumi-thotti Aug 07 '26

This reminds me of that time my cat started licking all of her fur out after I got a new roommate and the vet's official diagnosis after several appointments was that she just hated my roommate

71

u/rachelblairy Aug 07 '26

Cats can be very sensitive to stress! My roommates cat did this when I moved in but he was simply an anxious asshole who liked to threaten me. After a few months he did calm down and eventually even would sit near me.

His name was Emo and this is just how I walked in on him one day. I’m not joking when I say that cat was planning my murder originally.

15

u/kirasometimes Aug 08 '26

my baby the love of my life 🄹🄰

60

u/sweetpea122 Aug 07 '26

How bad was the roommate? Im already taking cats side

87

u/TyrKiyote Aug 07 '26

Jorts will similarly be offended if you don't pee on the bed, or vomit on the carpet, when he does

7

u/DFWPunk Aug 08 '26

We had 2 cats once. They were sisters. One was crazy and had 7 toes. The other was dumb.

When my then wife got pregnant we got a self-cleaning litterbox. The dumb cat had no problem with it. The crazy cat was having none of that and started shitting and pissing on my wife's pillow. Absoloutely nasty.

The dumb one saw what the crazy one was doing and seemed to have thought "I guess this is where we shit now."

46

u/beachme83 Aug 07 '26

25 bucks a word for that diagnosis

47

u/1stEmissaryElenwen Aug 07 '26

My cat Zippy takes loud shits, she yelps and hollers. She isn't in any pain and she doesn't have an infection or anything, I think she just thinks it's funny to yell in the litter box like that scene in Dumb And Dumber

25

u/willstr1 Aug 07 '26

Is it a covered litter box? Maybe she just likes the acoustics, similar to how people like to sing in the shower

3

u/sawlaw Aug 09 '26

We have one that does that, we call it "Greg's poop screams" he will also get mini zoomies after and run up the cat wall. He also poops in litter boxes right after we scoop them, we have 5 cats and 6 boxes that we scoop 3x week, so he'll poop in 2-3 and pee in another if he can right after we're done cleaning them.

47

u/Apprehensive-Till861 Aug 07 '26

Jorts: Unbuttered, unbothered

46

u/ThoughtfulPoster Aug 07 '26

Is this Jorts of "buttering the cat" fame?

16

u/North-Pea-4926 Aug 07 '26

The very same! OOP made them a twitter account!

28

u/lizzyote Aug 07 '26

I forgot Jean and Jorts had social media accounts lol

20

u/doyoulaughaboutme Aug 07 '26

my first cat i had his litter box right next to the toilet. we would pee and poop side-by-side all the time, it was so funny. he'd wander in, see im on the toilet and just be like, "yknow what, i gotta go too".

6

u/BetMyLastKrispyKreme Aug 07 '26

The power of suggestion is strong in the animal kingdom. See what happens when someone or something yawns. (I’m fighting the urge right now, just writing about it. Wait - I failed!)

1

u/IaniteThePirate Aug 08 '26

My two do this all the time!

16

u/Kepatsi_Louise Aug 07 '26

Diagnosis: loving orange boy

13

u/North-Pea-4926 Aug 07 '26

Diagnosis: Himbo (chronic)

2

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme Aug 11 '26

This is the original "Buttered Jorts," so Himbo is 100% accurate!šŸ˜‰

That one was awesome!😁

21

u/Willothewisp2303 Aug 07 '26

My kitty loves to go pee in the sink next to me when I get up in the middle of the night.Ā  It's such a silly group activity.Ā

11

u/girlwiththemonkey Aug 07 '26

Omg it’s fucking jorts!

6

u/VeryVeryRelevant Aug 07 '26

My brother's cat does this too lol. I was feeding them while my brother was away for the weekend and his notes included the phrase "check the sink for pee"

7

u/Spoonythebastard Aug 07 '26

Jorts being a sink pisser does not surprise me

8

u/catforbrains Aug 07 '26

Jorts continues to win Social Media stardom even when he's just being a Bathroom Bro

6

u/el_torko Aug 07 '26

I’ve had multiple cats watch me use the toilet and then in turn teach themselves to pee in it. Never poop, though.

7

u/MillersSmokehouse Aug 07 '26

The saga of Jean and Jorts is hands-down the best thing I’ve ever read on Reddit. Even now, revisiting it makes me laugh so hard there are tears in my eyes.

2

u/Mat_C Aug 11 '26

Jorts and Jean and the Swamps of Dagobah live rent free in my head

4

u/Spiff426 Aug 07 '26

My cats litter is right next to the toilet and sometimes he comes in to use the bathroom with me

3

u/JCambly Aug 08 '26

My brother self taught himself to use the toilet by watching my dad and one day doing it himself well yelling "pee pee like daddy!"

If this cat could talk it feel it would sound similar "pee pee with daddy time!" As you both go

2

u/Heissenberg1906 Aug 07 '26

Jorts is exercising dominance… Peeing while staring…

2

u/Magicsword49 Aug 07 '26

Crosspoat this to r/sinkpissers. They'd love it.

2

u/Calm-Medicine-3992 Aug 07 '26

The real question is why did someone spend so much when their cat was doing a normal bodily function in a much more convenient place than where cats usually do it?

2

u/Darkdragoon324 Aug 08 '26

At least he does it in the sink and not the back corner of a closet.

2

u/Doctor_Donnawho Aug 08 '26

Sure when Jorts pees in the sink while others are using the toilet, he has friends and is told ā€œhe’s a good boyā€. When I do it I’m told to leave the bridal shop and ā€œma’am, you’re a disgraceā€

2

u/JVilter Aug 08 '26

god damn I miss when twitter was good. I love Jorts and Jean

2

u/UnreliableAuthor Aug 08 '26

Every time I see Jorts I cannot help myself from thinking ā€œTHEY BUTTERED JORTS!!!ā€

2

u/Admirable-Ad7152 Aug 11 '26

My cat will sprint to the bathroom in order to pee with me, it's so funny

2

u/BrazenHamster Aug 07 '26

just read the Jean and Jorta workplace saga, and honestly, those people needed to be given more work to do.

1

u/the_big_sadIRL Aug 07 '26

Definitely an orange thing

1

u/KTKittentoes Aug 07 '26

My dad’s cat would always get up and go to the litter box when he would get up to pee in the night.

1

u/WeirdGuyWithABoner Aug 07 '26

why would you take him to the vet for that tho
is there some disease or something that makes cats sinkpissers?

1

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme Aug 11 '26

With him being a male cat, it's important to make sure he doesn't have bladder crystals happening.

1

u/Panzerchek Aug 08 '26

Friends don't let friends piss alone

1

u/WorthyJellyfish0Doom Aug 08 '26

My cat used to pee on the shower drain.

2

u/_frank_tank Aug 11 '26

It’s all pipes!

1

u/Delicious-Yak-1095 Aug 10 '26

What did you take him to a psychiatrist? He’s not injured lol

1

u/Familiar_Rip_8871 Aug 11 '26

My tortie, who generally completely ignored me, jumped up on the bathroom sink one day while I was doing my hair. She made direct eye contact with me, put her butt over the sink, screamed and peed blood into the sink. She was letting me know she had a UTI. Smart kitty!

1

u/Fun_Buddy7864 Aug 11 '26

Pfff, thats why I dont take my cat to the vet unless he actively communicates he has a problem, pain or something.

Mine one will yell in front of his puke or hand me whatever is hurting him to take him to vet, otherwise Im not even searching the car keys, is not worth it

1

u/carelessbutttwhisper Aug 11 '26

That reminds me of the time we spent $750 because my dog pooped too hard šŸ˜‚šŸ˜
Jorts just wants to be pee buddies, that’s so cute! Glad he’s happy and healthy!

0

u/Double_Performer9381 Aug 12 '26

Euthanize the fucking thing.

1

u/Reimant Aug 07 '26

What in their right mind adult thinks this is valuable use of their money on vet time? He was peeing in the sink, he wasn't pissing blood.

10

u/North-Pea-4926 Aug 07 '26

Sudden behavioral changes can indicate illness. Male cats can die very quickly if they get a blockage. That wasn’t the case here, but it is possible that the behavior could have been started by Jorts peeing in his litter box, experiencing pain, and thinking the pain was caused by the litter and not the UTI/blockage.

A lot of time strange behaviors are just ā€œyour pet is weirdā€ but a lot of people are willing to pay for peace of mind, especially since many pets will hide symptoms until it is too late.

-15

u/mnlion33 Aug 07 '26

Yeah. I know Ill get downvoted, but I just got rid of a cat who kept peeing on the carpet. We did everything. She was healthy 2 clean litter boxes. Clean up area everyday. Cleaned up the carpet with enzymatic cleaner. Meds. And it just wouldnt stop. If Jorts was my cat, he wouldnt be my cat for much longer.

14

u/CptnHnryAvry Aug 07 '26

You have been declared a mortal enemy of r/ sinkpissers

9

u/Overall_Occasion_175 Aug 07 '26

Peeing in the sink is a lot easier to clean up than a carpet though. My kitty is a very good boy and the few times he's been genuinely unable to get to the litter box, he's always peed in the bathtub.

Complicated situation for me tbh because usually these problems are fixable, however if it's not within my range to fix the cat peeing everywhere I would support rehoming. I'd rather the cat be loved than constant resentment for peeing everywhere, even if the cat can't help it.

u/limino123 Aug 07 '26

My cats are indoor/outdoor. Depending on the area outside cats can be very happy, we have no bugs or rodents and they prefer going outside to pee/poop. We have a big yard and trees and they love to play

2

u/Meowscles_dad Aug 07 '26

He’s pissing in the sink and it’s probably while their owner is doing the same on the toilet. I say that because I’ve got a ragdoll that’ll do the same if I let him get in the bathroom with me when I get up in the morning. It’s really not a huge problem though - it’s incredibly easy to clean and even easier to stop - just shut the door or turn the tap on. I can’t fathom why they went to the vet. šŸ˜‚

3

u/courierblue Aug 07 '26

Out of litterbox bathroom behaviors can sometimes be a sign of a medical problem. Still worth checking out.

1

u/Meowscles_dad Aug 07 '26

Sure but that behaviour looks very different. For a start the solutions I mentioned wouldn’t work.

objectively gross and I just put up with it because:
