📅 Monthly Scheduled Thread 📅 Job Postings & Local Business Promotions – October 2026
This monthly thread is for you to look for jobs, advertise an open position, or promote your local small business. Make sure you read the rules below before posting. This thread will be automatically posted on the 1st of every month.
The mods reserve the right to remove any post if it breaks any rules or if we feel that the thread is being gamed in any kind of way. If your post gets removed, please message us via modmail and we will be more than happy to explain why and have a conversation.
- Comment in this thread ONLY. No job or employer-seeking posts, or small local business promotions will be allowed on the sub other than on this monthly thread, unless a special circumstance that has already received specific approved by the moderator team.
LOOKING TO HIRE:
- Be transparent about pay, workload, and job requirements.
- Include some form of contact information in your post. Do not put an email address directly in the post; link to a company website, social media page, or ask for a DM if an email address must be involved.
- No multi-level marketing, get-rich-quick posts. Illegitimate businesses or positions will be removed, scammers will be banned.
LOOKING FOR WORK:
- Keep the post length as short as possible i.e. don't post your entire resume here.
- Have employers message you via Reddit rather than put your personal information on here.
- Include what kind of work you're looking for, a short summary of your experience or qualifications, and your availability.
LOOKING TO PROMOTE:
- Comment in this thread ONLY. No business promotion posts will be allowed on the sub for any reason OTHER than on this monthly thread.
- Small business in this thread means a staff of 10 or less. If you think your company should be an exception, please send us a modmail and we can discuss.
- The mod team HIGHLY SUGGESTS that you create a new business account, have it be active for more than 2 weeks and have a positive karma score. If you want to promote your business via your normal account, that may not be the brightest decision you've ever made. If you go this route, try to have the username be indicative of your business.
- Keep these businesses SFW. If you have a sexy-time kind of business, please be discreet. We're thinking if you sell toys, accessories, lotions etc. NO ONLY FANS ACCOUNTS, SEX WORKERS OR "SERVICES" ALLOWED.
- If you have more than one location, you're not a small business and need to check with us via modmail before posting.
- Business owners and employees should NOT spam, message or harass users in any way. You are allowed one comment per thread, per month. Yes, you may answer questions about your business but you can't try to post from multiple accounts about the same business.
- Make your business comment informative, smart and transparent.
- Your business should be in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany or Da Paaaarish.
- NO MLM, PONZI SCHEME, PYRMAID SCHEME, GET RICH QUICK type of posts. This is a 100% firm stance. If you don't think that your business is one of these above listed types but have doubts, it probably is.
- No churches or religious based businesses. This isn't the place for that, sorry.
- This is a serious thread, so please keep the jokes and memes to a minimum.
- Please be kind to the business owners here. This is not a thread to bash businesses. If you do not agree or like the business that is posted, just downvote it. If it breaks a rule, report it. No need for drama.
- This is for small business, not for national marketing companies or global chains.
The mods will reserve the right to remove any comment if it breaks any rules or if we feel that it's being gamed in any kind of way. If your comment gets removed, please message us via modmail and we will be more than happy to explain why and have a conversation.

Recommendations Unpopular opinion: your outdoor cat/feral cat colony SUCKS. NSFW
This sad sight used to be an ovenbird; a small, migratory warbler known for its surprisingly resonant and pretty song. Chewed up by a feral cat and left. Because cats instinctively kill for fun. Often they don’t even eat what they catch (as was the case with this bird). I’d highly recommend looking up a picture of an alive ovenbird and giving their song a listen. They forage among the tree branches and on the ground (where they also build their nests). Every year they fly 2-3,000 miles each way from their winter home to their breeding grounds. While they aren’t exactly threatened, bird populations across the board are in rapid decline due to many factors. One of those major contributing factors are free-roaming & feral cats which kill 1.3-1.7 billion birds in the United States EVERY YEAR.
Yesterday, I found this sad little thing in front of my neighbor’s home, where they have several food bowls set out for the local strays. I like my neighbors and I even like cats, but I dislike that they feed these cats (who also take shits in my garden).
I know the reaction to this post will mostly be assholes telling me to cry harder or cat people screaming at me to leave their previous fur babies alone, but I don’t care. This is what your outdoor cats and feral cat colonies are doing to the native wildlife and you should have to see it. If I could, I take out a fucking billboard. It’s sick and genuinely a sad and neglectful situation for the cats as well (no I don’t care if your cat “loves being outside”— so does my dog but I take her on walks— I don’t let her roam the streets). If one person sees this an decides to stop letting their cat outside, then it was 100% worth all the shit I’m about to get.
And if you’re wondering what CAN be done about invasive cat populations (bc trust that outdoor/feral cats ARE an invasive species), take a look at what Australia is doing. That’s how you protect your native wildlife.

ATTN: any bar owners / managers / bartenders seeking new entertainment on a slow night: I offer upscale, enthusiast karaoke with the deepest library in the world, and I'm looking to expand to more venues!
My company, Funbox Karaoke, runs the karaoke show on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Le Bon Temps Roulé, a show that often gets packed until as late as 7am. It's extremely different from your usual karaoke show. I offer the largest karaoke library in the world: 700,000 songs. Hell, I've personally produced the backing video for over 3,000 of them. If you've used YouTube karaoke videos before, you may have run into my videos.
The vast majority of my offerings use the original instrumentals using modern karaoke backing tracks rather than the Karafun/Sound Choice type stuff you see at other karaoke joints, and my singers have access to karaoke tracks from almost any band out there. The difference in quality between my show and other karaoke shows is extreme. Other karaoke DJs come to my show to sing!
Obviously, networking is everything, and what I offer partners best with open-minded places with clientele that are really enthusiastic about music, so I figured this would be a great place to reach out in case anyone wanted me to stop by and introduce myself!
If you need numbers to back up the talk, I increased the bar sales on Wednesdays by something hilarious like over 1,000%. If your bar only needs karaoke on a Tuesday or Wednesday, the days that I'm at Le Bon Temps, the good news is that I have four sets of equipment and multiple karaoke DJs trained with my setup who can run the exact same experience, so I can double down on those days as well! I'm down for whatever anyone wants, from seasonal events, to monthlies, to weeklies. Also, private events are my bread and butter.
Oh, and here's my searchable library, if you're interested. All of these are available at all of my shows. https://karaokebook.app/5

🔥🔥🔥 Hot Local Gossip 🔥🔥🔥 What in the beyond my tax bracket is happening in Audubon Park?
It looks like they are building a stage, walkway, multi-tented affair. Company event trucks from Chicago. A/c units, generators, chandeliers galore! Anyone know? Also open to wrong answers 🤣

Parade in Marigny
Anyone know the group parading tonight? Nothing resembling a theme just a loud AF setup and smaller group of people. They have a police escort so seems legit.

Bubble machines in the French Quarter!!!
I know there was like a whole ordeal a while back about some implant complaining about the bubble machine messing up his car paint or something and a bunch of people came out and had a bubble party…I’m a local been in New Orleans all my life and have worked as a server over 15 years and recently by my usual parking spot (Chartres st) someone has place a 24/7 bubble machine over my car. The first night when I got home I noticed the weird shit on my car and thought maybe some drunk threw their beverage on my car. I went home washed it off (twice already) only to notice the machine above my car. I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade and will be parking else where but wtf do you really need that shit going off 24/7 ?? Some of the bubble stains won’t even come off my car. Fuck those bubbles man.

If you were the one that hit the united cab on Prytania today I definitely saw him pull out in front of you. I was working when it happened so I waited till everyone got out of the cars and finished my tour so I didnt give a statement. If you need a witness reach out.

Has anyone noted any grocers around town suddenly having refrigeration issues?
I find it difficult to believe that these venerable controllers "made in the USA" were only hacked in France.

🚧 Traffic & Road Closures Proof of a war crime
Anyone familiar with the City Park Ave/Cemeteries intersection knows how horribly designed the traffic lights are since the last redesign. Well, today the lights aren’t functioning.
Was it CARmageddon? Nope. In fact, this was the least stressful and quickest trip through this hellscape of an intersection that I’ve experienced.
With indisputable proof what some traffic engineers did to our city, I propose that we impanel a tribunal for everyone responsible for this travesty. Once convicted, death by drinking unboiled water.
Only slightly /s.

Recommendations Trusty’s for HVAC
Just wanted to add my praise. Had a leak coming through my ceiling from the air handler in the attic. Phil came out next day (a few hours early!), fixed it, explained why I couldn’t find the clog and told me what I could do to keep it from happening again. All for under $200.

Have you been? Was it fun?
I’m debating on getting tickets, but I can’t find any reviews or anything about it, and I’ve never been to a show(?) like this.
Thanks!

Living Here Entergy has got to figure N. Carrolton out
Power flickers/goes out so frequently around Carrolton, it resets all of our devices and otherwise messes with our lives. Now it's out yet again. So fed up with their incompetence.

Went down to get my usual overpriced specialty produce and discovered almost everything empty. Produce all covered. No dairy, meat, or seafood in stock at all. I’m curious. Whas happenin?

Schools & Education Ideas for a City Park scavenger hunt.
Hi all! I am organizing a scavenger hunt for a group of college first-years (out of state), starting at the sculpture garden. The participants can go as far into the park as they like but have to return within an hour. They have to have proof of their finds—photos, videos, or the item itself. I have intentionally included some whimsical ones that are more designed to generate a story they can tell afterwards.
This is my tentative list so far. Looking to mix things up a bit. What other things would you include on this list?
A sculpture with eyes
A sculpture with a tail
A sculpture with a shell
A sculpture that made you smile/laugh
A sculpture that freaked you out
A sculpture that made you think about yourself/home/family
A plant you have never seen before.
A stranger’s outfit you think is cool. (Can be an item of clothing)
Spanish moss
A turtle
A squirrel
Empty liquor/beer/wine bottle or can
A penny (obtained from anywhere)
Cypress tree knot
Someone on a bicycle
Someone from a Louisiana town outside of New Orleans
Someone who thinks possums are cute
An acorn

Recommendations ISO Low Cost Psychiatry
Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I am in search of a low cost psychiatrist ! My meds are running out as I am waiting for my Medicaid application to be approved.
If it doesn’t come in time, due to delays in processing (was supposed to come in last week already, called n they said I should just wait another 2 weeks) I would be needing an affordable out of pocket psychiatrist.
I have my diagnoses already, and would simply need the state required consultation to receive a script for my ADHD meds monthly. I’ve been on and off of the same one for a decade and need to go back on them. Have some old ones I’m working through now which have gotten me through this crisis, But only have enough for another month.
Thanks for the help <3
