xbox controls fishing issue

Im playing on PC with xbox controls. Steamdeck specifically.

When I do the fishing mini game, everything seems to go well until you have to land the fish.

Normally, instead of pressing 1, you press up on the dpad. But instead I get an error: "you cant do that right now"

I honestly dont get it. Works just fine with keyboard and mouse. Has anyone ran into this issue?

Edit: its (LB+X) which is typically daily power 1. Strange.

You have to hit Left Button + X to reel it in at least on PC when using controller.

I'm just glad they didn't do anything goofball like make us rotate the analog sticks to simulate reeling. Yes some of their button combinations takes some getting used to.
