Used to play with a nano cortex, required external boost pedal to cut through band mix live:
Took my new mini quad cortex to a practice jam yesterday, and the volume just barely cuts through the band mix without the external boost pedal. 3 piece band that plays metal/hardcore so we get loud….but I was really hoping the mini quad would’ve been good enough to not require the external boost.
Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve already maxed out input gain/output volume/preamps volume, and have EQ dialed in to push the mids so it cuts through the mix easy. It’s just the volume issue…I just need like another 5db to be right there with the bass/drums but anymore increases to the I/O settings is going to cause clipping
And no I don’t play through a PA. Run into the fx return of a cheap tube amp to get tubes to push the signal through a passive speaker.
My only idea right now is to create a stereo split signal where one of the outputs also has a IR cab block that I would feed into my frfr cab, achieving stereo with technically 2 diff speaker cabs. But holy fuck that’s inconvenient
