I honestly dig for Netrunner to read good flavor text and this card hit it right for me β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘Œ

I started singing that song thinking it was a coincidence.

Then it wasn't.

I like it, but this card seems cracked. I think it needs to be costed higher and give more. 0 money cards have to be very careful I think. I do admit that there is a possible cost with the psi game, but a max 2 credits still seems too low.

Thats somewhat countered by the psi game, in that, if the corp has zero credits, its unusable, because the runner can just bid zero. The 1 and 2 credit recovery cases are more complicated

Agreed, but im hesitant to let the initial cost be better than sure Gamble, the base line.

I don't think that this is better than sure gamble by default. 1/3 of the time it pays out it makes 3, another 1/3 4, another 1/3 5. So that averages out to 4. But 1/3 of the overall time the runner guesses right, costing you on average 1 credit. So ((2/3)4)-((1/3)1) = 2.33333, much worse than gamble. Being able to play from 1 is big, but beanstalk royalties plays from 0 and pays out more on average.

This makes sense, but only on the assumption that players will randomly choose their bids with equal probability.

If you treat credit swings as points in a zero-sum game (this is still a crude simplification of the value of credits in any given boardstate in netrunner, but its very hard to model it more accurately), then players will bid different numbers of credits with different frequencies. Using an online calculator, I found the corp player will want to use a mixed strategy of bidding 0 creds 2/15 times, bidding 1 cred 5/15 times and bidding 2 creds 8/15 times. The runner should use the same probabilities but skewed the opposite way (mostly bidding zero). The expected credit swing toward the corp is 2.93 (UN Certified, honest to goodness) creds.

I posted this comment 4 hours ago and yet it still isn't appearing. I regularly have this issue with this sub. Is this some mod setting perhaps?

And when I reply to my comment that isn't appearing, they both appear. Somebody help me understand please.

Are you using a mobile app? They have terrible caching bugs.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no I'm just using the website.

You will also likely never want to bet 2, unless you really need the money. I don't think a runner should ever pay 2 into it, so that "mode" should be quite safe. However that means the 0 and 1 bet are way more contested. The upside of the best case scenario is good (5 credits and the runner loses 1), but worst case you incur massive loss.

I do think it is genuinely one of the coolest designs though

Maybe better closer to petty cash numbers? Maybe 0 for 3
