how to get NetBSD to actually work on a beige PowerMac G3??
I'm losing my mind over this. I have tried just about everything, setting load-base and real-base, using 0 bootr, and even using a floppy image... but I particularly keep getting a CLAIM failed! error every time I try to run it. What the heck is happening?! And has anyone managed to get NetBSD 11.0 running on a beige G3 at all???

FreeLinX-base 1.3.1 stable: a ~290 MB ISO Linux system with a NetBSD userland
galleryWe just released FreeLinX-base 1.3.1.
FreeLinX-base is a small, console-first Linux system. You boot into a shell and install whatever you need through our package manager, xpkg.
The ISO is around 290 MB and boots on both BIOS and UEFI. It runs Linux 6.18 with a NetBSD-based userland and musl, built with LLVM. We've also been pretty strict about keeping GNU code out of the base system. Our check-nognu test currently reports 0 failing checks.
The base comes with the things you'd expect from a usable Unix system: runit, mdevd, networking tools, doas, OpenSSH, curl, git, tmux, htop, nnn, vim/vi, bc and a few other essentials. The login shell is mksh, while /bin/sh comes from the NetBSD userland. tcc is included as the default cc, together with the musl and kernel headers.
The idea is to keep the base actually small. The live system uses a squashfs + tmpfs overlay and can boot with roughly 100 MB of RAM, with changes kept in memory until installation. There is no X11, GTK, Mesa or even fonts in the base image. If you need them, install them later.
Packages are signed with Ed25519 and verified with SHA-256. The installed system keeps FLX_ROOT read-only. Installation is handled by xsetup, which walks through the setup step by step and can resume an interrupted installation. flxupgrade handles upgrades from newer ISOs.
There's currently a signed repository with around 428 packages, while the image itself only contains the base and console-oriented stuff.
We've also put quite a bit of effort into making the build and installer testable. The build doesn't require root and can be done on any x86_64 Linux system. The repository includes QEMU BIOS/UEFI installation and upgrade tests, destructive disk tests and UI tests.
It's still a young project and there's plenty left to improve, but we're putting it out there now because we'd like people who care about Linux, BSD userlands, musl and alternative Unix systems to poke at it.

Fastmail blocked from mailing lists?
EDIT: Solved. Nothing to do with Fastmail. This was me trusting Windows Outlook to actually send TEXT when I explicitly set it for that account. It was still sending it as HTML. Solution: Installed Thunderbird.
I need to switch my email provider so chose fastmail.com. Twice now I noticed netbsd-users@netbsd.org is not accepting my fastmail.com email.
Anyone successfully using Fastmail with netbsd-users mailing list?

Wifi and hardware [t14 gen2i]
Heyo, I want to try netbsd on my thinkpad t14 and I was wondering how the wifi a graphics will work on netbsd. My graphics card is one of the newer iris xe ones and I know that my wifi card is an AX210 (covered by openbsd iwx) how would it go? The reason I want netbsd as I just want to try it and changing wifi cards or 24/7 usb tethering is not an option and there is no ethernet port.

When upgrading NetBSD 11 from 10.2, do /efi files change drastically?
Edit: I typed /efi in the title, but I meant /etc.
I used to just play with NetBSD, now I’m using it as a server. In the past when I run postinstall or etcupdate, I would choose to keep my edited files without allowing the upgrade to overwrite them.
Is it fine to just keep the old ones or would I have to merge new with the old?

Trying to update… and somehow pkgin doesn't reflect the fact that i updated from 10.1 to 10.2…
I was able to update 10.X on my UTM virtual machine (Which i use because for some reason it will not work with later versions of UTM; and also later versions of NetBSD that are not 10.X won't work at all in UTM, especially when trying to run X11) after some false starts, i was able to fully update the system.
However, the current block to a "proper" upgrade seems to be that of pkgsrc's repo reference, tried looking around on https://cdn.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/aarch64/, and yet there doesn't seem to be a new version of where i can point the defaults to. Am i supposed to update to 11+? Or am i still going have to stick with 10.1?

Touchpad not working on Lenovo MIIX 720-12Ikb
Installed NetBSD 11.0 on my machine. The pointer works at low speed, but loses at a slightly higher speed. This is not the case on Windows. The pointer sometimes stops functioning and comes back to work after roughly 0.3s. Scrolling doesn't work at all. The touchpad is I2C HID.
There are no pms from the ouput of dmesg. xinput shows only wsmouse device.
Obviously, NetBSD support I2C, so I think it's more of an issue on recognizing the device.
BTW, the touchscreen isn't working neither, but I haven't configured it yet because I don't use it a lot.
What extra information should I provide?
Or if there's more than just config issues, how can I do to start hack NetBSD and fix some problems?(I always wanted to get my hand on it)

NetBSD on HP Pavilion zd8000 and Dell Inspiron 8200
I put together a couple writeups about running NetBSD on the Inspiron 8200 and HP Pavilion zd8000. They are very performant under NetBSD and it is a great choice for these systems. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I had a lot of fun writing these.

Trying to get wifi set up on this laptop; I'm in way over my head but this particular laptop cannot run anything else at this point (I can't even reinstall because it autoboots the default efi and the uefi settings is not available). What do I do?
I can't seem to pull this off, and trying to understand the manpages is driving me insane. I feel like I need a kick in the right direction by someone who actually knows what's going on. Please help?

NetBSD 10.1 AMD64 - Firefox issue

After some upgrade firefox started to have weird issues:
-web pages are missing elements like buttons. ( in the pic NetBSD's donation bar is not colored)
- Address bar looks weird (also in the pic)
So most of the www-pages are non functinal.
I found non functional solution inside firefox how to fix. In firefox there is:
Settings -> perferences ->
Use recommended performance settings
Use hardware acceleration when available
When I turn them off, address bar is ok and elements are visible again.
But then, firefox is slow and also some sites like maps .google.com don't work. Theys just don't load. So thats not really a fix of the issue but better than nothing.
I have an old-ish integrated Intel GPU using the i915drmkms0 driver. That might be a problem, but it also used to work perfectly before that one upgrade.
I have tried different versions on firefox but they all have the sama issue. Also it's not an plugin issue.
How to fix this? What is causing this? Am I the only one having this issue?
