Rug dresses

Yá'át'ééh y'all! I really love and appreciate rug dresses. I would like to have one some day, but I am no spring chicken and I haven't seen any rug dresses made for larger women (tall and sturdy). Does anyone have resources for this? I grew up in TC in Arizona so that's what's close to me if anyone has any leads (vendors and photos).

Thank you, ahéhee.

Rug dresses are obviously very time consuming to make so I've mostly seen weavers making them for their family. I would have to really ask around to find someone willing to accept a commission to make one. A larger one would be even more expensive with the increase in time x materials. You didn't mention in your post but are you Navajo? What's your clan/where are you from?

I'm Todích'íí'nii from Tuba. My grandmother used to have connections but she just left the rez recently to be taken care of my family elsewhere.

One of the weavers I follow on Instagram (Gilbert Nez Begay, @hastiinbegay) makes beautiful rug dresses and shows his process.

Disclaimer: I’m not Diné, but I do do some weaving and his work looks great.
