Nanny Pay💵 [Replies from NP Only] Switching payroll providers
Received the Poppins data breach letter and planning to switch to a new provider. Has anyone gone through that process. How easy is it?

Yeah I’m thinking about this too, but I sort of figure it’s less likely to happen again to Poppins than to anyone else at this point.

No, because every single company will have the exact same risk. The entire US Government Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was breached 10+ years ago. Data breaches are becoming common because personal data is highly valuable. Freeze your credit, sign up for identity monitoring - change payroll if you really want to - just know there isn’t much consumer protection in this arena.

For sure, but this seems worse because unless poppins comes forth with a claim to the contrary, it seems like all our data is both unencrypted and linked, so a hacker can tie together all of our personal info + SSN + account numbers. This seems to me to be more severe than the other commonplace breaches. And the level of incompetence that would imply is a level beyond other recent breaches, and possible structural in the way they’ve built their business.

ugh, interested/following.
I feel like they've handled this horribly, on the other hand, the damage is already done and switching payroll processors is probably a pain in the ass.
