I’ve always been fascinated by the strange stories people tell about the world, especially those that blur the line between folklore, spiritual belief, and the unexplained. Sometimes, an ordinary thing becomes unsettling when you begin to question what it really is. The moon, for instance, has inspired myths and supernatural beliefs across cultures for centuries. But what if, in a story, it wasn’t simply a celestial body? What if it were something closer to a surveillance satellite, silently monitoring the world below?
That idea appears in one of the nine stories in my collection, *The Moon Knows All the Secrets of the World*. The book explores strange and unsettling possibilities through African cosmology, magical realism, psychological horror, and speculative fiction. Another story follows a grieving daughter who believes her dead father has been reincarnated in another city and travels there to find him. Elsewhere, an African leader on the verge of death undergoes an experiment that could allow his consciousness to continue ruling after his body is gone, while two lovers on opposing sides of the Biafran War struggle to preserve their connection. The stories move between ancient beliefs, futuristic possibilities, and the mysteries of being human.
I’m sharing the book here because I’m interested in the space where urban myths, cultural beliefs, and speculative fiction meet. African cosmologies and folklore offer fascinating ways of imagining the unknown, and I wanted to explore some of those possibilities in contemporary stories.
