CONGRATS BREW CREW FOR KILLING HITLER IN THE REVENGE SWEEP
r/NLCentralMemeWar • u/Oldschooldrool • 19h ago
I don’t remember watching the 1982 World Series.
I was too young at the time.
And growing up in the Fox Valley in the 1980s and 90s, the only evidence we had that the Brewers actually did appear in that lone World Series appearance was the occasional photograph in a magazine or a grainy video clip during a televised game or maybe a reminiscent local tv sports broadcast.
And almost all those photographs or video clips from the 1982 “Suds Series” between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Saint Louis Cardinals almost always show the players playing on Saint Louis’ bizarro astro-turfed moonscape of a 1982-era Busch Memorial Stadium. In contrast to the lush green fields and natural golden October hues found in every other recorded image of playoff baseball in existence, it is the horrific images of the unnatural vomit-green carpet layed upon concrete that are burned into my psyche forever.
Sure, there’s plenty of photographic evidence that games in that series were also played in our beloved County Stadium, but you never see them. Its only the drab, alien and unholy unnatural playing surface of Busch II that lives in our collective conscious.
And so, It’s Only Right and Natural that the Brewers will make their next world series appearance, some 45 years later, in another comically grim and uncannily unnatural environ, this time playing a minimum of two games at the ridiculous Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, where all the subsequent photos and videos will undoubtedly show the Brewers in washed-out contrast against an absurd green plastic curtain of shame.
Unless of course, somehow, Cleveland......a beautiful city and people in its own right, practically Milwaukee’ s sister city in so many different ways, and the Guardians, a historic franchise linked so closely to the Brewers in one particular heavenly way, could somehow pull off this ALCS victory against the Rays, and gift the world memories thereafter of a respectable world series complete with natural grass, October color, and plenty (Wisconsin late fall weather pending) of sky.
Please Cleveland.
This doesn't have to be our destiny.
Please.
Its not too late.

If you give the Dodgers an inch, they'll find a way to fuck everything up. You are our only hope for a NL Central champion. We can hate one another after the WS. Until then, FUCK THEM UP and show why the NL Central is the best
