Discussion Caleb Williams is better than Jordan Love
And it's not particularly close. Some people got 'it'. Other people don't
Mr Epa man looked like his usual self. Preform adequately enough, then collapse when the situation is most critical.
Caleb looked like he took his first next step in his development.

As a USC fan it was wild to see people discredit him for not winning despite having one of the worst defenses in FBS. There was a reason he was considered a generational prospect almost on the level of guys like Lawrence and Luck. He’s already good with no upper limit to his potential

u/sad-Fan1010 Buffalo Bills Sep 14 '26
Williams had a great game and is better than love.. I can see Williams being in the top 5 conversation this year especially with how bad Burrow, Stafford and Maye started.
Ben Johnson really has tapped into his potential, made it easy and as a result that offense is scary

This is an insane take that only box score watchers spew. Dude is clearly one of the most poised guys in the pocket in the league. He’s not perfect, but Andy Dalton comparisons are batshit insane
17
u/abcamurComposer Sep 14 '26
It’s less that he’s an Andy Dalton tier qb (he’s miles ahead of Dalton) and more that the Dalton line has risen. If your qb is worse than Love he should be replaced

u/Bd_3 Sep 14 '26
Had almost 400 yards with little to no garbage time yardage. I’m not sure even box score watchers can say this
6
u/Kplatz Miami Dolphins Sep 14 '26
The irony here is that box score watching tells you Love is a good QB because he puts up great box scores. The reality of Jordan Love is a fair bit different than his box score numbers though.
8
u/Novel_Importance_712 Sep 14 '26
Jordan Love is in no way the reason the packers lost yesterday. The oline is in shambles. Credit to Flores for exploiting that. Love actually held them off for three quarters with good decision making and being tough enough to keep taking the hits.
3
u/throwawaaayyyyyay Sep 14 '26
I’d say he played much better than the box score showed yesterday. The completion percentage and the interception stains it, when in reality, he was forced to throw balls away due to the line collapsing IMMEDIATELY way too many times. Plus a tipped interception.
When he had any time at all, he actually looked very composed and his pocket movement was excellent. He did miss a few throws but he is someone I’d take over many QBs in the league.

My cousins who are green bay fans .. when love threw that interception in the playoffs against San Francisco i turned to them and said “ i think he just ruined his chance in regards to winning a superbowl.. this might be as close as it gets.” Before packer fans cry im not saying hell never win one but its weird how people get amnesia every august and trick themselves into bills packers superbowl. I’m convinced people have been glazing him forever because they for some reason wanted the Packers to have ANOTHER HOF QB storyline. Like they are destined to always have an elite generational player.
Love is just whatever. He’s average at best. He’s never shown any hint of being anything amazing. A lot of QBs who aren’t good have flashes of being incredible but I’ve never seen anything from Love that made me go “wow he’s good!”

Maybe this is an NFC North thing and a bigger issue for Bears fans who have had to take shit from Packers fans lording Favre and Rodgers in their faces for years, and now they want to fire back, in which case fair, I liked to see the oppressed rise up.

i mean he should be right? he was the undisputed #1 pick in the NFL draft whereas love was a projected second round pick”project” QB the packers reached for. theres no question williams has more raw talent/athleticism than love and it looks like he now has the coaching to translate that into quality production.

Love played fine today, the problem is the Green Bay offensive line which let him get hit on almost every play in the 4th quarter. And yes, I acknowledge Caleb looked really good today, albeit in a game where Carolina gave up 300 FUCKING YARDS ON THE GROUND!

Also a green bay fan so a legion of dummies will point to bias.
Love played great all things considered. He got completely wrecked on most passing plays. Love played the Vikings who are favorites for the NFC North and have a top 5 defense.
Caleb played good. Young matched his best throws. Swift ran the shit out of the Panthers. Caleb has a nearly impenetrable oline. Caleb played the Panthers who are lucky to get a .500 and have a 31st ranked defense I believe.

Love is a solid starting QB. While I think he's in the 11-15 range for QBs, he also lacks a consistent WR 1 who can stay healthy (Christian Watson and Jayden Reed cannot stay healthy and Golden is still raw talent). I'd say Caleb has a higher ceiling, but I think Love is above average as it stands now.
