I’ve been stupid before, so I can handle it if I am. But what is going on?

NCAA rosters were not randomly generated. They were intentionally created to resemble existing players without using their names, correct?

Edit for clarification: I’m talking about NCAA games. Pre-2014. Not EACFB.

Dynasty Insane Revenge Game

Post image
9 Upvotes

Read only if you're a game summary/storyline sicko like me.

In my 20+ years of College Football gaming this was one of the most crazy games I ever played in dynasty and the storyline behind it made it extra fun. I'm playing on Heisman with Sliders.

Background: I started a dynasty as HC of Stanford and was fired in year 3 for failing key goals despite improving, beating #2 Miami in year one, and winning a bowl game against Indiana in year three. In my final year at Stanford, I started a true freshman, QB Tre Hamrick with star development and 96 throw power. Stanford QB Jeremy Angel was a year older with a slightly higher Ovr, but I went with Hamrick for the accuracy and arm talent. After being fired, I take a job at UNLV and I find Hamrick in the portal and we are reunited in Vegas. Ironically, Stanford ends up hiring Dan Mullen (lol) from UNLV coming off a mountain west title. Jeremy Angel is now Stanford's starting QB and I decide to schedule Stanford week 1 for a kickass revenge game for players and coaches alike.

1st Qtr: I start off the game with a 59 yd TD run from KU transfer John Kelly. Stanford answers with a 89 yd TD bomb from Jeremy Angel.

2nd Qtr: FIVE TOUCHDOWNS are scored.

TD UNLV: Goalline TD run, Kelly. TD Stanford: Angel scrambles for a 26 yd TD.

TD UNLV: Hamrick throws a 33yd dart to transfer TE Vander Ploog

TD Stanford: Angel throws a 71 yd TD pass to my former WR Paris Melvin, defense pursues like shit.

TD UNLV: I answer with a 83 yd bomb to WR Danny Boden.

3rd Qtr: TD UNLV: Hamrick scores on a QB sneak.

TD Stanford: RB LaMarcus Bell 77yd TD run.

4th Qtr:

UNLV: 47yd FG TD Stanford: I THROW A PICK SIX!!! 3:54 left

TD Stanford: I throw ANOTHER PICK SIX!!! Stanford is now up 49-38 with 2:46 left.

I get the ball back, move down to the red zone and throw a 7 yd TD to WR Vincent Carner, 2 point conversion is good from a pass to Vander Ploog, but still down by three, 46-49. 1:20 left with two timeouts.

Broadcast goes on and on about an onside kick but I choose to kick it deep and hope for a stop. They run and I use my two timeouts to stop the clock. On third down they pass and holding is called. Stanford didn't get the first down but I decided to accept the penalty, stopping the clock again and pushing them back further. They repeat 3rd down and the QB slides short of the sticks, clock runs down. They punt and I'm unable to return. I have 22 seconds with no timeouts and I'm on my own 29. I call four verticals, Hamrick rolls to the right and slings it deep. IT'S CAUGHT by Carner! Defensive PI is called and the clock stops at 14 seconds. I decline and hit the 47 yd FG to tie the game 49-49 !

OVERTIME

I choose defense. 1st down I get a sack, 2nd down they run up the middle for a goddamn touchdown, terrible tackling and pursuit by DBs all game. These boys are cooked.

On offense I score in three plays. I come out for a potential game winning 2 pointer. I don't like the defensive alignment and I call timeout and kick the extra point. Tied 56-56

DOUBLE OVERTIME

I get the ball on offense. 1st down run for little gain, 2nd down almost sacked, incomplete. 3rd down I hit my WR Carner on a slant and make the timing catch for the 1st.

Then I throw to John Kelly in the flat and he splits two DBs at the goalline, TOUCHDOWN. 2 point is GOOD! on a short goalline pass. UNLV leads 64-56

1st down, Stanford has the ball and throws a pass out to the sideline, WR breaks a tackle for a 9 yd gain. 2nd down I get a sack. 3rd down Angel hits his TE in a tight window at the goalline. Next play they run it in for a TD with Bell. 2 point conversion they run the option and pitch it to Bell, walks in easily. We're tied, 64-64.

TRIPLE OVERTIME 2-POINT CONTEST

Stanford scores easily, wide open slant to the TE.

I call goalline unders, I see an opening for Carner, and I am hit and sacked just as I press to throw.

WE FUCKING LOSE. Final Score 66-64.

Jeremy Angel is player of the game accounting for 385 total yds and 4 TD, exacting revenge on his former teammate and the coach who never started him.

Absolutely sick in my balls for throwing two pick sixes, but the defense also couldn't stop ANYTHING.

I was trying to get down the field in a 2 minute offense so I didn't slide protect which is my bad. But still, the defender wiffs off a square sack but clips my arm so I deliver a meatball sub to the LB that's just conveniently sitting there?

Conferences imma be playing dynasty mode with (I'll be playing Tulane).

ACC ate the Big East, that's what the Atlantic Division is. Rebuilt the PAC-12 with 12 teams, and the Big 12 with 12 teams.

Just a terrible game overall

The coding of Heisman difficulty is simply unbearable. Simply nothing organic both sides of the ball. Everything leads to a scripted outcome.

First, there’s a force field around all computer player in regard to contact.
- Defenders vs the run are able to hold their ground, standing up blockers and ball carriers right in their place no matter weight skill or position.
- Vs the pass there are multiple collisions that are simply defensive holding or pass interference that never gets called.
- The tackling by cpu defenders to create short yardage situations and lack of momentum for user players in same scenarios.
-CPU Ball carriers always break the first tackle and look like earl Campbell no matter the position or size or skill
- CPU QBs are unaffected by pressure near their body or feet. Able to execute perfect throws while tackled even with the “wobbly duck” throw (pinpoint accuracy mind you)
- this allows them to break sacks or commit intentional grounding
-CPU WRs excel at catches in traffic no matter the position skill placement contact number of defenders in area

Second the run blocking assignments continuously being broken by the front of the defense with no available adjustments.
- Linebackers are able to play peekaboo behind combos that cpu blockers communicate pass off with ease
-USER AI D Lineman perform no moves or reach for ball carriers within arm length let alone directing a block. (another CPU only mechanic)
- perimeter blocking ai vs user is a different game completely whether missed assignment or poor technique it’s always an adventure to see who and how ai teammates block

Lastly the I understand the concept of aggressive and conservative zone strategy but it seems to only affect CPU defenders.
- User ai defenders are still passive to react on routes entering their zone. Either standing still taking false steps or just simply not attacking the ball in flight
- CPU defenders are able to break off coverages whether in man or zone to go for interception while AI players and even User controlled players fail to animate
- CPU has access to far better coverage animations than user players (the press, route jostling, and breaks on routes) I mean I’ve seen dlineman cover 99 spd WRs on downfield routes strictly off animations alone

Overall every play is a HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION or science experiment (play a vs play b equals this result). You can literally feel your user defender being taken out of position or freeze to help CPU players make catches or miss tackles. You see defenders in coverage do the same to create openings. Then lastly you’ll see animations clip to help the cpu (swats where arm doesn’t extend or goes thru the ball)

It’s not football or even a game any longer. It’s simply a RPG with turn based outcomes. The speed threshold the composure mechanic wear and tear all these new added features change the performance of user players only.

It’s so hard to play a single game due to feeling like I’m not in control any longer

road to the cfb playoffs hack or something

Is there a hack or something on road to cfb playoffs. Played multiple games, all of sudden I’m playing a person and I’m winning, the other person is struggling, I’m then having connection issue, and bam I can’t do anything on my screen just taking delay of penalties over and over again.

Questions Home field advantage?

I get things like audibles, snap counts and simple communication can be affected by crowd noise, but what's with the receivers icon disappearing or showing "?" while they're sitting wide open? Let's be a little realistic. There may be miscommunication on a route but crowd noise doesn't paralyze the QBs arm and eyes and he should still be able to throw a wide open crossing route or get it to the wr on a screen. Anyway to turn that part of the feature off?

Dynasty Players not imporving?

I was playing dynasty and got training results. 1 player improved their dev trait. But the whole roster saw no stat gains whatsoever. Has anyone else had this issue?

Looking for mods for cfb 27

I was wondering if there was a mod that can import a cfb draft class to madden without manually putting in every player attribute when editing class in madden. If not, any game changing mods that are recommended?

Road To Glory Need help, im ass at QB...

I'm trying to play QB but i swear no one is ever open on runs, i cant peg it because my OL just lets defence through and when someone is open and i lob the ball for the easiest catch in the world they just drop it or fumble. I'm honestly so lost on what im doing wrong, im waiting for animation to finish, im waiting before someone is open, if some one isn't but there is a little room for me to make a run i do that but nothing ever goes well. If no one is open and i need to make a throw good luck to me because the opp Int on a ball park of 80% of the time its so irritating, i can't even win a QB position battle because of all the same things.

Dynasty Vote for my next job 🏈

Post image
60 Upvotes

Was just fired after my third HC season at Stanford, I was putting together a decent team and actually beat #2 Miami in year one and was ranked as high as 16 my final year before finishing 7-9 and beating Indiana in our bowl game.

The schools lower on the list I'm considering are also Cincinnati who have an athletic QB or San Diego St who has a shitty team but decently fast RBs. Might be forced into a downgrade here because none of the three star schools seem to be accepting my interest. My Pipeline is Northern California and I typically run a Spread/spread option usually.

Dynasty CFB 27 Coach carousal is broken.

Post image

It’s hard to ever get good job offers and at most you still only get 4 to 6 options it seems a year even though there’s “interest” you can show towards teams.

However another thing that hampers this is Head coaches never seem to go down prestige. Like from A+ to B for example.
I’m so tired of seeing head coaches that perform terrible get hired to other big tier programs.

It makes no sense.
Here James Franklin has put on multiple losing seasons and is still A+ prestige and gets hired to Florida St.

Silverfield was just at Florida st and went 2-10.
What does he get? Hired on to Auburn and still has a A+ prestige.

I don’t think I’ve seen one coach down rank and it affects which schools even want to hire you when all the coaches just stay at their prestige or increase only.

Three games in and the coaching carousel is still a joke.
EA doesn’t listen.

Dynasty Which Backfield Creator to Start?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

For context, I’m going in to year 4 after being 5-7; 7-5; 5-7. I usually force myself to sim 3-4 games every season. My play style leans toward Dual Threats and Backfield Creators at QB. Last season I had a pocket passer statue at QB and struggled but had a strong run game. My O-Line is almost entirely well rounded archetypes and is solid. My running backs this season are freshman and sophomore backfield threats so I won’t have as much of a true run threat as I did last season. Only one wideout of note. I’m better with dual threats and backfield creators cause I can scramble quickly for a gain, usually between offensive lineman more so than outside the pocket. I’m leaning toward the freshman mostly cause he’s star development and has 96 throw power, but I’m worried about the lower acceleration rating.

Discussion Historical college football sim looking for research volunteers!

Me and a friend are developing something called Dynasty Forever, a college football simulation where you can start a dynasty in any season from 1956 onward and rewrite CFB history.
We’re looking for fans willing to help research historical rosters, schedules, stats, and coaching staffs for their favorite schools.
Even one roster or an old media guide would be a huge help!
If you’re interested in contributing, here’s our research form in the comments!
