Welcome to MuslimParenting!

One of the best gifts we can give our children is giving them a good and healthy upbringing with the love of Allah in their hearts. Our future communities will be shaped by our children so it is essential we raise them to be productive members of society that hold onto Islamic values.

There have been so many questions since I've had my kids, like "When should I start teaching the kids Quran? how to ensure there is love for Allah when they grow? how to deal with some of the challenges in the West? How to have a healthy relationship with them according to the Quran and Sunnah? How to explain certain Islamic topics.."

I noticed many other parents also had these questions and even more difficult questions that required some more insight.

I created this sub so that parents and parents-to-be can talk about how best to raise our children.

Sending newborn pics to family/friends?

• Upvotes

Alhumdulilah my wife and I welcomed our first baby last month.

With relatives now finding out we are trying to find a balance of sending pictures and looking for advice. My wife and I are on the same page of not sending any pictures to relatives but trying to find a solution also to share the joy.

We have family overseas who is also asking to see the baby, but we are also having family here asking. The main reason for not sending pictures is of course evil eye and anything else related, so looking for the best way to protect our baby but also share this beautiful and joyful occasion with family.

What are things you did to protect your baby but also share the joy with family? Did you also read any special duas to protect your baby in the early days?

JazakAllah Khair

Video Game for Muslim Kids

Assalamu alaykum! I've been building a game for my son, and it's now live for everyone: Khalifah, a gentle Minecraft-style world made for Muslim kids. They build a village, pray with their neighbours when the adhan calls, and learn at a little madrasah. Free, with no ads, no accounts and nothing to buy. It plays in the browser on a computer: https://khalifah.app

Would love to hear what your kids think!

I have two daughters that both have Muslim mothers, I am trying to teach myself Arabic and learn about Islam for their sake and both of the babymothers families sake but I really do need help

I have two daughters that both come from Muslim mothers, I have been trying to teach myself Arabic and learn more about Islam out of respect for theirs and their mothers heritage so I can teach them but I am really struggling with some parts lol, I really don't mean to be disrespectful but I am really REALLY confused about that whole Aisha situation lmao. I have seen scholars either straight up say its false or say it happened but give it various explanations, can someone please help me understand? I don't want to hear a biased Christian give their opinion because me and them are practically in the same boat, we don't know or understand Islam enough to give an answer on it. I don't want to "debate" it, I just want to understand it. I also have a son that has a Hindu mother and my WORST fear is being unable to explain Islam correctly to the kids and my son either grows up disrespecting the religion of his sisters or both my daughters end up not understanding their mothers religion enough to respect it themselves. Please help me understand so I can help my kids understand, all of their mothers families already hate me I dont want to give them another reason lol

How do you stay close to Allah when life feels uncertain?

Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, and even when we make dua and try our best, we may still feel worried about the future.

I’m curious to know how you keep your faith strong during difficult times. Is it through salah, reading the Quran, making dua, or reminding yourself to trust Allah’s plan?

I’d love to hear your personal experiences and what has helped you find peace during uncertain moments.

Introducing Rooh and Rhymes! ❤️

Assalamu Alaikum everyone! 🤍

👉 youtube.com/@roohandrhymes786

I know there are thousands of channels providing Islamic content for kids. But this channel is surely different...HEAR ME OUT!

In a world full of content that pulls our children away from their deen, we wanted to create something that pulls them back — gently, beautifully and in a way they actually enjoy.

I personally write and rhyme all the content, poems and nasheeds myself after thorough research. No false information, no misleading stories. Simple kind lessons and engrossing stories to explain kids akhlaq and make them good little humans.

On our channel you will find:

🌟 Islamic moral stories

🎵 Original nasheeds — instrument free

🤲 Daily duas and adhkar

📖 Quranic values made simple for kids

💖 Lessons on kindness, honesty, patience, sharing and good character

🌙 Bedtime stories and duas

Everything is free. No ads pushing wrong values. Just pure, wholesome content for your little ones.

If this is something your family could benefit from, we would be so grateful if you checked it out, shared it with other Muslim parents and made dua for us. 🤍

JazakAllahu Khairan for your support. May Allah put barakah in every family that watches. Ameen. 🌸

We built an app for Muslim mums - looking for our first 100 Founding Members 🤍

Assalamu alaikum everyone 🤍

My husband and I have spent the last year building an iPhone app called Nummu, and Alhamdulillah, we’ve finally launched it.

One of the reasons we built it was because we felt that Muslim mums often have to jump between so many different places — one app for prayer and Qur’an, another for pregnancy or cycle tracking, somewhere else for parenting information, and then Reddit/Facebook/WhatsApp when you want advice or simply want to speak to other Muslim parents.

We wanted to bring those things together in one place, built specifically with Muslim women and mothers in mind.

Nummu includes prayer times, Qur’an, du’as and dhikr, pregnancy and cycle tracking, children’s growth and milestones, Islamic parenting guidance, and a community where sisters can ask questions, share experiences, support each other and create their own groups.

The community is actually the part we really want to build now. We don’t want it to become another app where everyone downloads it and nobody talks 😅

So we’re looking for our first 100 Founding Members.

We’ll give those sisters Nummu Premium for life, completely free, as well as a permanent Founding Member badgeon their profile.

All we ask is that you genuinely use the community — make posts, start conversations, ask questions and interact with other sisters. You don’t have to promote Nummu or leave us a positive review. We’d much rather have your honest feedback about what you like, what you don’t like and what we should improve.

If you're pregnant, a new mum, raising older children, TTC, or just interested in being part of an Islamic community for women, you’re very welcome 🤍

📱 Nummu on the App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/app/id6764867887

🌐 Website:
https://www.nummu.co.uk/

If you’d like to be one of the Founding Members, comment below or message me and I’ll arrange your lifetime access.

And if you do join, please introduce yourself in the Nummu community — we’d genuinely love to get to know the sisters helping us build it from the beginning.

Jazakum Allahu khayran 🤍

Is there any hope that his first word will be Allah?

Any parents here who maybe had that?

Most parents want it to be Mama or Baba but most people tell me that it's not possible for him to say Allah first.

How do you deal with food waste with young children?

I have a toddler that is still exploring food. I’m finding that there’s a lot of food waste at the end of meal times, sometimes I can keep stuff for next meal time but other times it’s not really stuff I can feed her again but then again it really pains me to throw food away.

Would love to hear any tactics other parents have to address this!

My muslim fathers so strict and i cant imagine living my whole life like this

So I'm gonna start with a small factown about my country and Islam is live in a country where it's very VERY normal to see a Muslim girl wearing croptop and shorts everyday and going out at night freely without getting judged just like most arabic muslim countries so living in here while having a strict father makes me go insane he doesn't allow me to wear croptop neither shorts, jorts, mini skirts , not even a sleeveless shirt! I'm not allowed to have my hair down not allowed to straighten it or embracing my curly hair not allowed to u see nail polish or makeup not allowed to go out or to have a personal phone (I'm a high school students btw) and the list keep getting longer but I still love him tho he do the best thints for me I mean I studied in private schools my whole life and plenty of other stuff and I be so happy whenever he's proud of me or say something nice about me.and.I'm the middle child and prolly his favourite too cuz I always get the top grades being a part of every compition got alot of awards and never said no for anything he says...and I can't imagine myself making him disappointed in me but tht ties my freedom too I wanna face him but I'm scared of his reaction ...im still a lot wards high school student but I can't live on this rules my whole life (sm ppl gonna say he won't be tht stict when u get older but he will never cuz he was trying to convince me to wear hijab this year and I kept avoiding the topic just bcz I didn't wanna say no and he planned wt kind of life I'm going to live already) I even broke up with my bf (dating is normalised in my country) just bcz I was scared that he will know ..but my dream is when I become 18 which is not far away I wanna wear whatever I want go where ever I want ..date if I wanted too and live freely but if my father is strict till then...I'll prolly lose my mind

Plsssss guys if anyonecan help me to deal with my father especially ppl who have similar experience and that's it.

Muslim parents, I’d love your honest opinion on a Seerah app idea

I’m researching an app for Muslim children around ages 3–7, focused specifically on the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

The idea is to make the Seerah something children can actually enjoy engaging with from a young age, rather than something they only learn through books or formal lessons, at a much later age where habit / character changes become quite difficult.

Think stories from the life of the Prophet ﷺ, audio stories, nasheeds, games and interactive experiences, all designed around helping young children learn about his life, character and Sunnah.

The goal is ultimately to help children know, love and connect with the Prophet ﷺ from a young age.

For parents with young children:

  1. Is this something you would genuinely want for your child? Why or why not?

  2. What do you currently use to teach your child about the Seerah?
Books, YouTube, cartoons, madrasa, apps, stories at home, etc.

  3. What do you feel is missing from the Seerah content currently available for young children?

  4. What would actually keep a 3–7 year old coming back to something like this?
Stories, games, characters, audio, interactive activities, rewards, etc.

  5. Would you pay for a high-quality Seerah app for your child?
If so, would you prefer monthly, annual or one-time payment, and roughly what would you consider reasonable?

And probably the most important question:

Do you think a children's app focused specifically on the Seerah is compelling enough on its own, or would you expect it to cover broader Islamic learning as well?

I'd genuinely appreciate honest opinions, especially from parents who have already tried Islamic apps/content with their kids. Good or bad, I'm trying to understand whether this is actually a problem worth solving.

Salam everyone,
I posted here a while back about the picture books I make. I've decided to make them all free to download and print at home. Every page is drawn by hand, no AI.
If you know a family, teacher or masjid who'd enjoy them, please share. I hope your little ones love them 🤍

Muslim Parents: Would you actually buy this?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have a Yoto Player for my toddlers and LOVE it for screen-free entertainment that’s super simple (and sturdy) to navigate for little ones, but I really wish there was a Muslim alternative with Islamic audio/content designed specifically for kids.

I’m considering actually developing one.

If it was a high-quality player with physical cards kids could use independently, would you pay around $100–120 CAD for the player + starter cards?

And if you saw a real working prototype, would you be willing to preorder it at a discounted launch price, or would you only buy once it was in stock?

Please be brutally realistic bc I’m trying to figure out if other Muslim parents actually feel this need too.

What do you find difficult about teaching Seerah to your children?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

For those who teach Seerah to their children, what do you find most challenging?

Is it finding age-appropriate resources, keeping children interested, difficult language, too much text, or something else?

I’d genuinely love to hear what has worked or hasn’t worked for your children.
