Iāve been thinking about Steve Golin and how much his influence helped shape Mr. Robot. He was an executive producer on the series, but his contribution went beyond a credit: Sam Esmail has spoken about Golinās belief in the project and how his enthusiasm for television helped encourage the showās journey from an unfinished feature idea into a series.
In a Scriptnotes interview, Esmail remembers Golin as āa geniusā and talks about how Golinās excitement about television helped him see the potential in telling the story as a show. That support mattered. Mr. Robot became a singular, ambitious seriesācinematic, unsettling, and willing to trust its audienceāand itās lovely to know Golin was part of the story behind its beginnings.
So, thank you, Steve Golin, for believing in Sam Esmail and helping Mr. Robot find its way to the screen. And thank you, Sam, for making something that still gives fans so much to think about.

Small note for accuracy: the Scriptnotes conversation is an interview with Sam Esmail, not Steve Golin; itās included because Esmail discusses Golin directly.

Just finished it for the second time, when I first watched it I was drug dependent and I thought...wow this is a good show just for it's concept. This second run-through and the ending of Darlene being the anchor really hit me hard. I'm from very functional family, so much so we know that we love each other unconditionally to the point we don't say it enough. After this watch, sober, I had the uncontrollable urge to let my sister know. Tell your family you love them, all I got from my sis was an "ok" but that's all I needed to break down and reiterate the fact we don't say it enough. What a show...
