Scream no longer a priority?

I’ve been listening for years & years & i’m starting to understand that Scream isn’t their priority anymore. I can’t help but wonder if it’s because of the backlash against Caleb or if they genuinely have lost interest in it? Either way it’s sad since I really enjoy that podcast. They should make an announcement saying it’s no longer a thing or something in my opinion.

CRITICISM My problem with Morbid Ads

I am an original-ish Morbid listener (2020) and have and will always continue to listen to this podcast, but there is a serious problem with their handling of advertising. I’ve compiled a list of my major issues.
As a prelude, whenever you’re an influencer your likeness and niche often becomes your brand. Your brand and likeness is important to your audience and as soon as you jump into SELLING products completely outside your brand or selling products at all, you risk disconnecting you from your audience. Simply put, a good brand is partnering with products strategically to further your own business, and Morbid just continues to shoot themselves in the foot.

  1. Morbid ads disconnect the listener from the story. Although there is transition music between ads, especially on Spotify’s older episodes, new ads can be spliced randomly into episodes without any transition or music. This can startle listeners and is unpleasant generally when revisiting old episodes.
  2. Morbid has lost its brand. Why is my true crime podcast instead of being a vessel for storytelling trying to literally sell me shampoo, wine, and subscriptions for clothing stores? This is bad branding period.
  3. Some ads are in extremely poor taste. Specifically ones targeting “wow you just listened to some crazy gross stories how will you ever wind down, wow cheap wine subscription”. Obviously a marketing tactic but just tasteless when you’re not talking about a ‘difficult story’ true crime is actual crime and people.
  4. Ads don’t belong in a true crime podcast, or at least not randomly spliced into the middle of episodes. True crime is already a sensitive topic as a “genre”, but simply monetizing off stories of the suffering of others is morally dubious enough, further profiting and interrupting OTHER people’s stories with an attempt to distract and sell you something is in poor taste.
  5. Finally, do we need the ads? I don’t honestly know about their respective financial situations but are the ads actually necessary for themselves or an extra support? I obviously know certain brands require ads at certain time stamps, but eliminating ads or advertising at the ENDS/ONLY BEGINNING of episodes could honestly do at least something.

I do think advertising CAN be done in well, honestly leaning into the true crime side when it comes advertising CAN help this podcast with money if is an issue (which mI doubt). Partnering with company A that donates profits to [ crime related issue] or company B that sells self defense classes.
In short this is a fixable thing, just another bullet point to the growing faults this podcast has.

Edit: guys I wrote this at 2am cus I didn’t want to skip ads, I don’t actually care at all and just wanted to argue a side. To clarify I don’t share the opinion of half the things I wrote. 😭

Where to listen now?

Alright so ive been listening a while, and have pretty much always and only use YouTube Music to listen to my Podcasts, because I came from Google Podcasts years ago. However... ive noticed all new (regular) episodes after sometime in July seem to have been pulled and are no longer being posted to YouTube? Is there something I am missing here as to the reason for that, that may have been discussed on socials like IG(that I do not use)? And where else can/does everyone else listen to the episodes? Im trying to avoid yet ANOTHER app to keep track of, but im already having withdrawals from the "Morbid Ladies" as my wife calls them... haha. So where is everyone listening to them?

Thanks in advance, Weirdos.

I usually don’t like their interview episodes. I feel like like those should mostly be bonus episodes. However, I really enjoyed this one! I’m not sure if it was because I’m a millennial and it was nostalgic for me or if he is just that charismatic as a dude. I think it’s a mixture of both. Go watch the YouTube of it if you get a chance! It’s pretty good!

wondering if they will see my email?

Hi weirdo fam. I’m new to this sub but i’m wondering if anyone knows the likelihood that they are going to see my email? I’m sure they get tons of emails but if anyone has sent them one before and knows whether alaina and ash actually read it?

Missing episode

Guys - help. I seem to recall there was an episode, a part 1, led by Alaina, that was never followed up? And it gets mentioned briefly that they wouldn’t be covering it? But I can’t think what it was! I’ve scrolled through the episode list… any ideas?! Much appreciated ❤️

The Exorcism of Anneliese

I really don’t understand these girls sometimes. While listening to this episode, I was genuinely intrigued to hear that they don’t believe in possession. The same girls who went with Sam and Colby to a haunted house. Okay...

And then Ash tells a woman to “get a grip” because she blessed a microphone. GIRL, you believe spirits can communicate with you through a machine. Make it make sense. 😂😂

I’m trying to follow the logic here, but I’m struggling.

OFF TOPIC If you’re caught up and looking for a podcast

I’m loving The Storyteller: Narcissist’s Playbook right now. It’s a deep dive investigative series. I believe the Narcissist’s Playbook is the fourth “story” in the series but it’s so far 20 something episodes. Scratches my true crime itch with psychology in the mix.

Recommendations for podcasts similar to Morbid?

I am pretty much all caught up on Morbid and hate waiting a week for a new episode, or when i waited all that time just for a listener tale🫩 (i hate listener tales lol). does anyone have any true crime podcast recommendations with a similar style to morbid (banter, somewhat lighthearted, 2 or more people, interesting cases, etc). i already listen to Grimm and LPOTL. im not a HUGE fan of LPOTL but they get the job done sometimes. it doesn't even have to be true crime, i like cults and conspiracies, as well lol.

Fresno Nightcrawlers

I feel like I’m going crazy. Did they talk about the Fresno Nightcrawlers on the podcast? I swear I remember them talking about it in one of their cryptid episodes with a guest, but I can’t find it. I listened to all of their cryptid episodes today. Did they talk about it on one of their guests’ pods?

30th anniversary - Lindsey Green

So yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the Tennessee VS Paul Ware case that was the assault and murder of my cousin Lindsey Green. It was the first case in USA history to use Mitochondrial DNA in a court room.

It's unique because some people in my area and family dont believe he did it and was framed. The case had hopes in it and to this day it's talked about in my family.

QUESTION Saw something interesting but lost it

On Facebook this morning I saw a post that Alaina is doing an event (to do with the Butcher Legacy?) on September 26. I tried to go back to it but I can’t find it now.
Does anyone know if she really is doing something on the 26th & where it might be? Very interested in attending plus it’s my birthday that day!

QUESTION YouTube Uploads?

I asked about this a while back, because none of THEIR content is on YouTube. All there is are the Listener Tales. All the other cases are on Spotify. Excluding the bonus episodes and revisits, there are 12 (!) cases not uploaded to YouTube. Does anyone know if they have mentioned no longer uploading to YouTube?

CASE DISCUSSION Leo Frank case

I just finished listening to the Prosecutors coverage of the case and on the same day they released part 3, Morbid put out their episode on it. Why is this case suddenly popular right now?

Daniel LePlante: new fear unlocked

Holy effing sh!t, I listened to this case today and….
First off, how does your teenager disappear and live in the literal walls of someone’s house for SIX MONTHS and you’re just… unaware there’s an issue and then you bail him out when he gets caught and then you somehow don’t put him under lock and key and he goes out and (spoilers but iykyk).
But also, how do you make sure there’s no access to the inside of your walls and ceilings?!? Because the thought of someone lurking in there is a new fun fear I’ve discovered. (Mostly joking but yuck!!!!)

EPISODE DISCUSSION The Disappearance of Daniel Robinson

Usually I am all logic and don't immediately jump to this thought - but did anyone else think ALIEN ABDUCTION with this episode/case? 👀 I am still thinking about how bizarre this one is.

QUESTION Why are people such haters

True crime podcasts are the only ones that really keep my interest and they’re perfect for when I’m in the bath, crafting, etc. but not all are created equal and I’ve found this is one of the only ones where the voices don’t annoy me, plus I find the gals funny.

Why are people such haters? Why are there so many virtue signaling pearl clutchers who want to act like true crime hasn’t been entertainment for decades upon decades at this point? What is it about this podcast that seems to draw particularly vocal critics?
