I think you are misunderstanding how Reddit modding works and making assumptions based on that misunderstanding.
When we mod we have the option to remove something using no message at all, or if we leave a message it can be done either via our own account or left anonymously and attributed to the mod team as whole. It’s not an account that is created. It’s a system put in place by Reddit to prevent abuse of mod team members individually.
The existence of this is completely irrelevant to whether a topic is considered “in scope”. Having modded a geosub for a while now I have yet to see any mention of Israel/Palestine or Gaza not descend into utter disaster area within 3 comments. Even if something was completely non political within 3 comments accusations of genocide and terrorism are being thrown around. This often results in rule breaking comments that are not just against sub rules but the platform rules overall (eg hate speech). Given the strong likelihood of this, many subs that are not specifically political or world news in nature do not allow discussions on this topic. There will be plenty of other topics that are also off the list, just you won’t necessarily know if you haven’t tried to post them. Also some may seem similar in nature but cause far fewer problems because the “sides” are less entrenched/or one totally dominates the other on the platform and there’s not “side issues” relating to hate (ie Ukraine vs Russia is another active war where it is two countries fighting but the key difference is they are not two different religions that are also entirely wrapped up in their country identities so there’s less dog whistling as well as less outright hate). So conversations about other “similar” issues may not actually cause the same problems in terms of level of rule breaking comments.
