Every month, I used to get a text message from Mint mobile on the day my data allowance got reset, like this one from last May:
Mint Mobile: It's a new month and you've got a fresh tank of your Mint monthly 15GB of data. You've got until Jun 13, 2026 to use it.
I appreciated this, because it reminded me to go screenshot my data usage in Settings > Cellular (this on an iPhone), check to see if any apps had used more than expected, and then reset the statistics, so I would have accurate numbers for the next 30ish days.
My plan renewed in July. The last message I got was in July, saying:
Mint Mobile: Your Mint 12 Month 17GB plan has been successfully autopaid until 07/13/27. Now get back to enjoying the no bill chill life.
No mention of "fresh tank until Aug 13, 2026", and no messages in August, September, or October.
Why did they stop? Can I get them started again? I've set a monthly reminder in my phone to go look, but since Mint is ultimately the one that decides exactly when it resets for the next month, I may have to check a few times each month to find that it has, indeed, reset.
What would be ideal would be a push notification from the Mint app each month when the plan resets, but can I at least get the push notifications back?
(While we're at it, the semicircular "speedometer" gauge of how much data is remaining for the month - it would be awesome if their were another concentric semicircle that showed what percentage of time in the month was left - that way if the data allowance was running down considerably faster than the days in the month, it would be immediately obvious from the gauge ("ah, I've got 30% of my data left, but 45% of the month left, maybe I better cut back a bit"). Though that doesn't affect me as much these days, as my original 10GB plan got upgraded to 12GB, then 15GB then 17GB, and I still only use 5-8GB/mo.)
And finally, for those who might say "you should just switch to unlimited!", thanks I've already considered that. I'm happier with my 17GB plan as it is now - it's far more data than I need (though 6GB wouldn't be quite enough), and it's 2/3rds the cost. Plus Unlimited used to be subject to video "optimization" and hotspot limits, but I don't know if those still enter into the equation. In any case, I'd rather pay $20 than $30. And even if I was on unlimited, I'd still be checking every month to see what had been using the most data, because I'm curious that way.
