So I went through a traumatic experience last year. Was home bound for 3-4 months and during that my beard became patchy and started shedding a ton of hair.
BUT now it looks like it’s growing back but I need a 2nd opinion if it’s really growing back.
I did go to a dermatologist and she said it’s stress induced alopecia. She said it can grow back in weeks months or even years. I thought she was just giving me false hope. But now it looks like it’s growing back but just wanna confirm if I’m coping or not .

I am looking to start applying minox liquid once a day specifically for my moustache area (I know twice a day is recommended for faster gains via the FAQ) and I am terrified of having my very touchy cat come in contact with it..
I was hoping to be able to get to class and apply, then at the end of my classes have it washed off, etc. And I'd be keeping the product in my locker.
Is there any lasting issue about it lingering on my skin despite soap? Or should I just accept my awful facial hair.

I’ve been taking minox for 1.5 months using foam 2 times a day . Im 44 years old didn’t notice too many issues with the minox maybe a little face flushing. I upped my dosage to half a cap starting last week and come this week I started noticing my blood pressure was high , sweating, increased heart rate tight throat , etc etc . I just happened to have a dr apt they took my BP and it was 148/98.
Dr said it’s not from minox because it’s foam but that’s only thing that changed .
I’m finally getting results and have to look out for my health . I want the best of both but what are suggestions here , stop altogether (will there be any side effects ) or lower it to one time a day and leave it there see how I feel ?

Finally getting comfortable with my current beard, also first time giving myself a line up and fading to make it look cleaner. Thinking about reaching 2 years of use and then slowly tapering off. Been using only once a day for 3 months now and progress is still good enough? What you guys think?
r/Minoxbeards • u/JBLimSpeaking • 7h ago
Not sure if thats dangerous since its doubling the dosage and do people shed hair from the head from using it on beard?

I don't have a very symmetrical face. Alongside that, one side of my beard seems to grow thicker than the other.
I just want to know if I'm imagining this or if it's as obvious to me as it is to you.

12 week milestone, picture one is 4 weeks. Seeing good transitional hair growth and terminal is getting thicker. Still no real upper cheek growth but I’m assuming that’s one of the harder areas to grow. Excited for the next 12 weeks.

MONTH 1 - 2.5 mg
MONTH 1 (to this day) - 5 mg
I hate it, it looks darker in pictures and in flash, but in person it looks almost transparent. I actually hate this.
Also there are white hairs that in some angles look black nd in others they look totally white...
I HATE HOW SLOW THIS THING IS AND I DONT KNOW IF THE WHITE HAIRS WILL EVER GET DARKER...
Anyways you can check my progress in my account i think

Is there any reason I keep growing vellus hairs but 95% of them never turn terminal? Over a year in and Minox is definitely growing new vellus hairs, but they never turn dark and stay blond/white. I quit nicotine and improved my fitness routine/diet to improve circulation, use a dermastamp once or twice a week at 1mm, cleanse and exfoliate and face mask, and never skip applications unless I’m sick or on an occasional overnight trip, but not seeing the progress I want.
I used Minox at 20 and had quick results but stopped due to itchiness and acne. 29 now and get zero side effects + live a much healthier lifestyle, but seeing people’s quick and perfect results here dims my hope. 5% Rogaine Foam for anyone wondering.

I’m taking accutane aka isotretinoin and was wondering if it would help as much as topical tretinoin.

I'm planning to get a 0.5mm dermaroller. Can someone tell me whether to get a 192 needle one or 540? Also, can anyone in India share a link for it?

For those of you who have used minoxidil for beard growth for several years, have your gains plateaued, or are you still seeing new growth?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have been using minoxidil for 2–5 years or longer.
My question is whether beard growth eventually slows down significantly after the first year,
even if you continue using minoxidil consistently. For example,
during the first year, someone might notice major improvements in beard density,
new hairs appearing every few weeks, and previously empty areas gradually filling in.
However, after the first year or two, they might feel like their progress has almost completely stopped, with very little new growth despite continuing the same routine.
A friend of mine experienced something similar. He saw substantial beard growth during his first year of using minoxidil, but now he barely notices any new growth compared with that initial year. This made me wonder whether beard growth naturally reaches a plateau after a certain amount of time, or whether the progress simply becomes much slower and less noticeable.
I would love to hear your personal experiences:
How long have you been using minoxidil on your beard?
When did you first notice that your progress started slowing down?
Did your beard growth completely plateau, or did you continue seeing gradual improvements after the first year?
Did you eventually develop a full, thick beard, or are there still areas that refuse to fill in despite years of consistent use?
Have any of you experienced a second wave of significant growth after seemingly plateauing for months?
If you reduced your application frequency or stopped using minoxidil altogether, did you notice any changes in your beard density?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who have used minoxidil consistently for at least 2–3 years, rather than people who have only been using it for a few months.
Did minoxidil genuinely stop producing noticeable results for you after the first year, or does beard growth just become much slower as time goes on?
I’ve been reading about the theory that people claim that tretinoin can help overcome a minoxidil plateau and make hair follicles more responsive again.
I’m interested in real experiences from people who have actually tried this combination, particularly for beard growth.

I knew I didn't had enough hairs to look good in a full stubble before minox but I really forgot how I looked like. Today I found the first two photos and wow lmao. I started nearly two years ago, stopped after a few months, started again and did a year or so of (not so) consistent application. Sorry for the low quality pics lol.
I also did some microneedling with a Dr Pen but I haven't really been through with it tbh. I used liquid for most of the time and switched to foam in the last 3 months. I don't really know if I should keep on going and maybe start to microneedle 1 time a week. I'm afraid I could lose hair even though it looks terminal to me. But I wanted to focus more on regular skincare and getting better skin: minox it's a pain in the ass to use between hydrating creams, BHAs and stuff.
Anyway this has been a really tiring yet satisfying experience. Be patient and trust the process :)

I’m 23, Black, and struggling to grow a full beard. My cheeks are very patchy, as you can see in my pictures.
Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to buy, where to buy it, and how to use it?
Money is not an issue. I’m willing to invest in anything safe that actually works.
If you’ve successfully grown a beard from a similar situation, please share your exact products, routine, how long it took, and before-and-after results.
I’m looking for real personal experiences, not advertisements or fake promises. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with Foligain Minoxidil Foam for beard growth.
I’ve been using it for almost a year, once a day, mainly on some patchy areas of my beard. Unfortunately, I haven’t noticed much difference or any visible improvement after all this time.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Do you think using it only once a day wasn’t enough? Would it be worth trying twice a day, switching to another brand, or trying the liquid version?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and advice, especially from people who had little or no results at first but eventually saw improvement.
Thanks!

r/Minoxbeards • u/mistar_z • 1d ago
1-2 before.
3-4 after.
Like in person I can transparent fuzzy glow if the light hits me just right, but I don't know if I only see it cause I pay more attention to it now.
