Help Multiplayer on pc
Im trying to do multiplayer on pc with my bf, but dont wanna pay for a server. Hamchi worked ages ago but i don't remember how to use it or how it works. Is there any way to do multiplayer with him without getting a server?

Are you in the same house? On the same wifi cause if so just start a single-player and open to lan in the menu in world, and there ya go

The same approach should work if not in the same household but with usage of Tailscale (equivalent of hamachi)

Oh cool does that require you to still set up your own server cause I set one up on my computer and use ngrok free

you should be able to just connect to your lan server enabled in game. Since Tailscale just gives you access to all connected devices, you can just connect by ip or domain name provided by tailscale and use whatever port you want to

why not join a public small vanilla server? either that or create a singleplayer and open it up to lan

Java or bedrock? I’m more up to date with Java but you don’t need a server anymore. You can open a world to lan. You can also have a friends list now. You’ll see little player heads when you hit pause in your world. Pretty sure you can just get him to join a world that way too.

I never tried it out myself but I’m pretty sure it has the same ability that bedrock has had for many years… just on java now.

Radmin is an viable option, its dafer than Hamachi and simpler to use, but you can use essentials mod to open a "server" for you guys and play together, just download it from curseforge or watch a tutorial it is pretty simple. Hope that i helped and sorry bad English

if you don't want to pay why not just join a server that already exists? plenty of regular vanilla servers to choose from

If youre not in the same house, Tailscale or Nordvpn's Meshnet come to mind. Puts you all onto the same virtual LAN.
Not sure what performance is like though. We use it to play Stardew Valley crossplay with pc, tablet and two mobiles without lag.

Use the essential mod is the easiest and fastest way to do it and you can play even with additional mods, yeah essential has microtransactios to customize your character but you dont have to pay anything to just play with your bf or friends
