How did you get the cushions to “stay alternate”?

First put a candle on jukebox, then cushion ontop of that, then broke and placed chest, and then cushion ontop of jukebox and chest

The bottom ones do have the merged slot texture due to being powered by the running jukebox, you can just barely see it behind the items.
The top ones don't, as chests are non-solid and don't conduct the power from the daylight sensor.
(Also, there's small paintings attached to the backside of the top shelves to fill the gaps on either side of the chest. I gotta remember that trick.)

No he got it, I meant the snow layers thing. I’m still not visualizing how the last one got there but I’ll just try it myself later. I’m guessing it’s bc the chest isn’t a full block tall and then the light sensor was put against the planks in the back

You can see 3 cushions in chest’s block space, and they aren’t kebab-style

Cushions stay in their place when there is a block to take up the space that they are in or on top of.
So if you place a block that is less than half of a block tall and place a cushion, you can break the block that you placed the cushion on, and as long as you replace it with something else the cushion will not break.
This is why you can place multiple cushions within a single block of space and it could be at any level between the 16 pixels of a block's height. It's just a matter of figuring out the specific block to use for each height.

A cushion can stay at any level as long as it has a support block(aka, it’s hitbox is inserted into a solid block of any shape).
This seems to be 3 sne layers for the middle cushion, then break the snow and immediately place the chest. The top and bottom cushion are directly placed in the chest and jukebox.
